  • im also trying to learn off spin i spent ages on my run up. i got a lot more spin on the ball wen i changed the run up because i feel more comfortable wen i arrive at the crease. anyone got a vidieo to teach fellow off spinner how to bowl a doosra. Thanks..

  • I am trying to learn off-spin and improved when shortening my delivery stride-before i was leaping into deliver with a long stride and it wasn't working. I walked in briskly, inverted my wrist, and tried to bowl against a braced left leg. Got some spin this way-i have small hands though-hopefully i can vary length and pace to have a little success at least.

  • funny how most of the clips used involve west indian batmen

  • this is an excellent video it helped me improve on my offspin bowing.. excellent video

  • before this video i tried bowling off spin and it would turn out as a leg and now i can bowl off spin great video

  • mate you turn door knobs in a weird fashion

  • how on earth can people dislike this

  • Haha turning knobs, but great video

  • this is sooooooooooooo boring :-(

  • @fr21pie thats what every shit clueless wannabe spinner says!

  • @CorneredTigerz hey son im a very good spinner and i no to most its weird but to others its good now i play at a very high standerd i play at a pro clubs junior team if u dont believe me message me and ill link u to the team

  • spining isso easy

  • @lovelykhan90 No it isn't.

  • @lovelykhan90 More You Practice More You Improve......:)

  • There's a lot of nonsense talked about topspinners really. Most 'topspinners' are just offbreaks that don't hit the seam or don't turn off the pitch. Every spin bowler knows that it's impossible for every ball to turn on a reasonable deck. The Tim May and Colin Miller 'topspinners' in this video were just quicker offspinners that didn't turn much.

  • offspin is easy to be ok at but very hard to be great at

  • iee off spin and iee play for pukekoehe nz and ive got 16 wickets from 7 matches . iee think spin bowlers get this many wickets because at my grade not many players spin . under 14s

  • lol iv seen gatting get out off so many amazing spin deliveries. It's like Matthew hayden, the amount of times i have seen him get out of some of the worlds most amazing catches lol

  • i think off spin is one of thhardest bowl to play in bowling deprtment

  • why? its running your fingers over the seam when you release it or flicking your fingers and wrist when releasing the ball. its usually fingerspin as well so its easy to control. offspin is probably the easiest delivery to bowl ever.

  • the bowl drifts by it self when the ruff side is on leg and shiny side is on off and it the air is moving right or left side u can use the air to drift it in its easy.

  • that pretty sweet drift on the offbreak this dude bowled, does anyone know what causes drift?

  • magnus effect, its pretty cool, wiki it

  • haha gatting gets all the freakish spinning balls lol

  • haha yeah true ay, wasnt he the one that faced that freakish one from shane warne?

  • Do you mean 'the ball of the century' indeed he did.

  • "That is one beautiful delivery, I'm here to to tell you" LOL Ritchie your the best

  • his quotes are classics

  • is it me or is it stupid how one he shows the top spinner before the stock ball of the off spinner? and is it me or does his top spinner turn to just as much as his off break?

  • Turn isnt that critical, but the topspinner is very different

  • yeh it is kinda silly XD and his probably topspinner turns a little because us white people aren't known for our flexible wrists =P

  • Hmm i wouldnt say that.

    Boatha is king of topsin

  • i think anil kumble could dispute that title. not to mention that botha's troubles with throwing around 2006 support my point that it isn't exactly natural for some people.

he still has a very bent arm now. i don't doubt the legality, since he was approved after being knocked back twice, but it still shows that it's not all in the wrists for him.

  • So, most of his balls were fine

  • i personally think botha bowls too short

  • Yer he bowls short, but his topspin evens that out.

    NORTH FTW

  • ah i see.

i still think it gives the batsman a bit too much time to check out where its going

  • best of luck check your line and the length some people bowl/pitch the ball like in yorker length the length is one big step front of the batsmen and.......any questions ask me i will help you and bye.

  • Bouncing high?

theres one thing that fixes that.

    Topspin!.

Makes it bounce hard and low, so you want 50% top and 50% side spin. try getting the ball to spin on the seem also.

    Good luck!

  • topspin will make the ball kick up higher

  • a topspinning ball will loop in the air and drop quicker, hence kicking up and bouncing higher.

a backspinning ball will flatten out and hence hit the ground at a lower angle, staying low.

this is not a mistake, and it is very common knowledge. watch any tennis clip when the commentators mention topsin vs. slice. watch any baseball tutorial about a curveball.

get a pingpong ball yourself, give it topspin and see it dip. it'll be so light that w/ backspin it'll actually RISE beyond flat.

  • NO IT WON'T

watch any video of the flipper. backspin makes the ball stay low, and a topspinner on a normal wicket, pitched on normal length, may just go over.

topspin means the ball goes higher

backspin means the ball goes lower. not "over".

  • p.s. maybe the table tennis is what has confused you.

i used pingpong balls to exemplify what the ball does IN THE AIR.

AFTER THE BOUNCE, a cricket ball behaves in an OPPOSITE fashion to a pingpong ball.

a pingpong ball is so light that topspin 'drives' it foward, while backspin makes it 'dig in' i guess you could say.

  • a cricket ball is too heavy- a topspinner drops out of the air quicker and loopier, and just bounces up despite how the ball is actually spin fowards.

backspin slows & flattens it in the air, and the ball stays down, despite how you might think the backspin would dig/pop it up.

when talking about overspin with a cricket ball, what is most important is what happens before the ball hits the ground. the effect of non-sidespin after is negligible.

  • fruitjuice47, bullshit. u cant bowl off spin to save ur life. u got 3 wickets in 18 games, dont lie, its in the pavillion for proof.

  • ROFL! owned fruitjuice xD baha

  • I bowl leg spin, and mine bounces high too.

However bouncing high is a two edged sword. On one hand the extra bounce takes batsmen by surprise, meaning they get a top edge of just mess up, but on the other hand, you will rarely get the ball to hit the stumps, as it will just bounce over.

    Try bowling slower maybe?

  • I bowl offspin, the best advice I can give others is bowl your stock delivary 4 or 5 times in an over then do some variation like a arm bowl or a top spinner. I got 23 wickets in 11 games last season at 8.21, majority with the quicker arm bowl that catch the batsmen out and the batsman plays all around it either getting them LBW or bowled. Set the batsmen up.

  • boy butcher was unlucky there at the end it hit him outside the line of offstump, who cares if it was an arm ball that's still no out.

  • No shot offered though. Would've been close but I think Funky got the benefit of the doubt because Butcher wasn't playing a shot

  • @captcowan *sighs* brother, you should know the rules. Even if it pitches outside the line of offstump, if the batsman doesnt offer a shot, LBW CAN BE GIVEN!

  • i bowl off spin but i found out that my wrist movement of a leg spins wrong unn even though and can still do top spinners and arm ball because of my fingers

  • helped alot thnks

  • my offspin is wierd. the flight takes a sudden jump meaning my flight is long(too long but still grabs a lot of wickets) but as it reaches 2 feet infront of the batsman it suddenly drops, confusing him. i lik this technique

  • you have a lot of dip, it could also be because ur releasing ur stock delivery is a little too straight seamed like a toppy causing it to drop suddenly

  • sounds like you're bowling with a lot of overspin that causes the ball to drop sharply, which means you're probably not turning the ball as much off the pitch

  • Nothing wrong with that though, but the turn is important

  • fkn hilarious gatting gets all the massive rippers first warne now may hahaha each shit

  • Too bad he hasn't taught us the doosra, teesra and the quicker one.

  • yes excellent video, good camera work
