  • OMG the original Avatar!!

  • Holy moly! Jason Lewis IS John Smith!

  • This is my favorite scene from the movie. You can feel the intensifying emotion their feeling when they're staring silently at each other.

  • I DO love this movie, by the way. It was my favorite Disney movie when I was little kid. Even when you know the history, you like to forget it for a few moments and just relish the beautiful colors and music. I was heartbroken (literally) when I learned the real story of Pocahontas in 3rd grade.

  • Ho hum. If we were going for historical accuracy here, they would have included the fact that Pocahontas was actually 12 when she met John Smith (who was a short, middle-aged brunette with a big ego), was kidnapped years later by the English (I think), and also was eventually converted to Christianity, renamed Rebecca, was married to John Rolfe, had a son, and died of smallpox at age 23.

    Yay.

  • Pocahontas has and always will be my favorite Disney movie. Too bad they had to ruin this relationship with the sequel. You can't build this love up and then crush it with historical accuracy. If they wanted it to be acurate they should've made this historically accurate, but then we wouldn't have this great movie.

  • whats the tune for this called? please?

  • I think is one of the best scene compared to all the other scenes in disney movies when the lovers see eachother for the first time in my opinion

  • pocahontas is the prettiest disney princess.

  • @pipingdryad AHGREED! screw belle, lol

  • Wow. I heard that Pocahontas falls in love with John Rolfe in the second film. Why the hell she falls in love with another damn guy? Do I care about real history? Hell no! Disney Company does not need to make exact same as real history! This is entertainment! Anyways, Pocahontas and John Smith is a cute couple rather than being with stupid damn John Rolfe..... If I was Pocahontas in the second film, I will dump John Rolfe, and I will wed John Smith instead!

  • i hate how n umber 2 is different then the first onee i wish she was still with john <3 :(

  • Pocahontas 1 is so much better than Pocahontas 2, because Pocahontas and John Smith are together, and because of "Colors of the Wind" which was my favorite Disney song when I was a little child! My favorite Disney song now is "Best of Friends" from Fox and the Hound!

  • 1:45 - classical Disney moment.

    3:39 to 3:43 - lolz

  • they just don't make movies like this anymore

I don't care about new Disney at all

  • lol. i think i like the real john smith better than disney's version of him. real john smith was short, redheaded, a notorious liar who told tall tales about his adventures. A real character! i think disney should have used elements from him to beef up their johhn's personality.

  • John Rolf??ROFL!!!!

  • i love this part he puts his gun down because he sees a gorgeous young women, and then he takes his hat off

  • notice that "if i never knew you" is playing in the background.

  • I'm 15, and I can already say that Pocahontas kicks Hannah Montana and the new Disney's ass!

  • Comment removed

  • Vote John smith !!!!! LOL

    boo the other dude rolf...

  • Such a beautiful scene. And notice that there aren't even words spoken in the first few minutes! It's a beautiful movie.

And let's not forget, this movie was OBVIOUSLY not aiming to be historically accurate. It's not even claiming to be. It's a romance fantasy, just like the movie Inglorious Basterds was a revenge fantasy. Neither are meant to be historically accurate, but to present a story.

  • i dont understand why, when the whole disney story has been inacurate, they decide to make her end up with Rolf like in real life. I mean if they were gonna do that they could've made Pocahontas n Smith FRIENDS not lovers. N if Disney wanted to b acurate then they shouldve drawn Pocahontas to look like a 12 yr old like she really was. Point is, I HATED the 2nd movie, plus the animations were horrible

  • so little words yet so much was said.

  • Pocahontas the best disney film ever!

  • This scene alone kicks every disney movie's ass. Except of course, The Lion King's final scene.

  • Okay so wind started singing when they met, the compas pointed him meaning her path led to him, she saved him, she followed him before he even met her, he didn't kill her when he had the chance to, but she ended up with Rolfe. Please tell me how that makes sense

  • @theprincessactress Right? it's like can the signs be any more clearer??? and to make everything worse, Rolfe wasn't even as hot as John. can you say fail?

  • Well, yeah, the sequel did suck because of the fact her and John split up, but in history they never really were together, she just saved him.

  • God , this scene gives me goosebumps- this is like in mytop 5 favourite disney film's. The music... and ah gosh it's just amazing <3 and @MsBrokenBallerina couldn't agree more, that is one stupid sequel !

  • If I was Pocahontas I would have been like "who are you you came to my land"

  • I love this movie but it. it is so historically innacurate that I hate it at the same time. if that even makes any sense to all you.

  • @Anglebuddy18 Yeah but really, you can't rely on Disney for historical accuracy. If you want that, read history books, you know?

  • I love this part it's so romantic. If only our world was like a Disney movie

  • Love at first sight. I think theyre so cute together. Its a shame that they made a sequel, but I am not letting that ruin my favorite movie so I just pretend it doesnt exist. :)

  • 2:07 simply gorgeous.

  • I love how she learns English by friggin' osmosis, lol. Ah Disney.... Whatever, she's hot. So I'll overlook it. I just wish everytime they showed her straight on (ie most of the movie), her nose didn't disappear.

  • God, I LOVED her eyes whenever they did that close-up! Hell, I loved the way everything in this movie flowed so naturally, with all the colors, and the characters....*le sigh*

That was the REAL problem with the sequel (and most of Disney sequels in general):

    -the animation quality SUCKED!

    And:

-the story should have been more developed and thought out!

  • This scene always takes my breath away. Always. So beautiful, it almost makes me cry..

  • i wish my hair blew like that in the wind :) haha. john smith is such a gentleman <3

  • I love Meeko at 1:10 and 2:42. Also, Flit at 3:39.

  • 1:48

One of the most beautiful moments in film history. The music, the haunting imagery, it gives me chills every time.

  • i love that moment, indeed one of the most beautifull moments in film history

  • yes agreed. its one of my top fave scenes in movies.

  • in disney version, pocahontas looks much older than she really is.

in history books, i read that she's only 11 years old when she met john smith.

  • yeah and they were never involved she did marry john Rolfe though the guy in the second movie

  • @ROSE911GUNDAM

Yes,you have right! In this film is around in teenage to adult age! But this film is amazing, too!

  • 1:40 Prettiest hair animation you'll ever see xD

  • @MagikPantz I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that :]

  • i never understood why they colored her eyebrows brown instead of black

  • they made the eyebrows brown because they thought it might make the Pocahontas's face too harsh. now days celebs etc eyebrows never match the hair colour tee hee

  • makes sense and celebrities do that

  • @halfiemimi my eyebrows are black & my hair is dark brown naturally.

  • yeah, but you are not a cartoon tee hee

  • @hypnosegirl16

my hair is auburn and my eyebrows are dark brown.

  • The instrumental of "If I Never Knew You" gets to me everytime. One of my favorite scenes in any movie ever.

  • at that time she was only 11 or 12

i find it kind of gross that they made a 'love' story out of this

i used to love this movie..and i still due

but im doing a project on her and now i find that kindof gross..

nooooo!!! hahah oh well still like the movie :3

  • *__* It's magic

  • this movie is the reason i start drawing

  • what shampoo is that girl using because her hair is gorgeous!

  • This scene and the whole movie are simply AMAZING! too bad they just had to come out with a stupid sequel that splits John and Pocahontas up

  • @MsBrokenBallerina omg I know! I think anytime disney makes a sequel it sucks!

  • @MsBrokenBallerina dude I agreed! What's up with the second movie?! Bummer. The first one was epic.

  • @MsBrokenBallerina Technically, that's the real story.

  • @MsBrokenBallerina i know!! so what if in history pocahontas ends up with rolfe?? john smith is hotter and everything else about this movie is innacurate so wtf?

  • @evillittletree hahah...john smith is DEFINITELY hotter :)

  • @MsBrokenBallerina I think that is because she married John Rolfe.

  • @MsBrokenBallerina the sequel sucked balls

  • the music when they meet is beautiful

    i love this scene <3

  • great movie but why do all the brits have american accents??? american accents didn't even exist in those days! that's so typical disney/USAish. Plus there's nothing more charming than a cockney lilt which john smith would have had :)

  • Who freaking cares if they existed or not. (Btw if you noticed they do have accents, John Smith is the only one who doesn't.) As far as I'm concerned if Disney makes an amazing movie like this they can add all the "American" accents they want as long as the quality makes up for it.

  • why does she have red eyebrows??

  • 2:07 I like too much that part because you see her face so closely and her eyes and lips look beautiful

  • i love the way john takes his hat off, as he comes towards her, so cute. beautiful scene, such a shame they wrecked the fantastic storyline with the second film. screw historical accuracy!

  • @kimm4580 word!

  • I just realized the song playing during John Smith seeing Pocahontas for the first time is a mix between "If I Knew You" instrumentally and a bit of the finale song of the movie, which is a reprise of "Colors of the Wind."

    Goshes, I <3 Disney films. :3

  • * "If I Never Knew You," I mean.

  • 1:46 and on. That was incredibly done! I wish Disney movies could still be like this.

  • I feel your pain completely

  • this has always been one of my favorite scenes... so exquisite...

  • What's his name(the racoon) used to crack me up!

  • shouldn't john smith have an english accent?

  • there is actually reason to believe that the brits spoke more like the americans at the time.

  • ....was that Mel Gibson as John smith??????? o.O

  • this was my favourite part in the movie when i was little! there was something magical in this scene :D and i still love this so much..

  • Pocahontas does not look like a 12-year-old in this Disney movie.

Pocahontas was born in 1595. She was 12 years old in 1607 when she first met Captain John Smith.

Historical records do not suggest that Smith and Pocahontas were lovers.

  • there is no evidence that bambis mother was shoot when he was young either.

  • Comment removed

  • I LOVE this scene! It's so beautiful.

  • this part makes me shiver, the look in her eyes...

  • Oh, my God!

    I still get chills!

  • 3:15 to 3:38 ... pure magic

  • I always thought John Smith should've been the one for her =/

  • This scene has so many interesting nuances, like the confrontation between the Old and New World, and John Smith recognizing the beauty of this new land when he sees Pocahontas.

  • @degree7 That's so true. There's a depth to this movie that people don't even realize is there. It portrays the clash of ideology between the Europeans and Native Americans beautifully as well.

  • Is that Mel Gibson voicing John Smith?????

  • Yes! And he sings in this film too! YAY!!

  • A-wesome!

  • Ahhh....the good old days! Now were stuck wit Miley Cyrus no sangin ass and fuckin wannabe "Pure" Jonas Brothers

  • de las peliculas ke tienen unas esenas romanticas ke te transportan a eso y sientes ke el corazon late con estas esenas y la historia es lo mejorrr

  • LOL 3:40

  • i really, really wish that they put the music starting at 1:41 into the soundtrack or something so i can listen to it over and over again...i know "if i never knew you" has a similar theme, but its not the same :(

  • I love her she's so pretty but her lips have always bugged me. At times in the movie when she's meant to be sad her lips are always set into this weird upturn that makes her look as though she is smiling.

  • i totally agree..and then u go and see number 2..nightmare......i just wish they hadn't created the second movie..

  • I don't think I'll ever get sick of this movie <3

  • Disney films are the best, I love pocahontas since i was little, but this scene caught me and i would play it over and over again with my barbie's.

  • i just love the way he gets caught into her eyes, i love this scene(L)

  • Esta é a melhor parte!

    Tao LINDA!

    Tambem querooo xD

  • She's so beautiful <3 I love this!

  • FAVORITE DISNEY SCENE OF ALL TIME

  • i totally agree!!!!!

  • beautiful eyes

  • The music at 1:46... my ears are in heaven :) Very beautiful

  • Then searh for "If i never knew you" :)

  • I LOVE THESE MOVIES.

  • I love this movie sooo much! The music beginning at 1:46 ist the much best i ever can imagine for a scene like this. This movie makes me dream, that "this" can happen to me one time in my life too, this love at the first sight without many words..

  • LOOOOOOOOOOOVE her hair (:

  • LOL

  • What I love about Pocahontas is it is very different to the "happily ever after" Disney animation. And of course she is the 1sr Disney colored princess. Am I right on that? Well non the less I love rare beauties like her . :)

  • Actually, she's the second [next to Jasmine]

  • That's true, but Pocahontas stands out more (in my opinion) because she was the first to be placed next to blatantly white characters. Jasmine was in her movie with everyone else being Arabic. It didn't SEEM as if she was of color.

  • This and the final scene are the best scenes in the movie... if not of all time. xD

  • I agree with you :)

  • favorite scene in the entire movie!

  • I love her hair! It's so awesome!

  • i think they're the best animated couple ever. so romantic . at the end of movie,"her" wind goes to John,it was destiny. And the first meet.was amazing ... I hate the second movie coz disney killed this magical love ;/ most beautiful Disney's movie(with Lion king)

  • I KNOW!!!

    I hated John Rolfe!

    Screw historical accuracy!

I mean since when did disney care about that?

  • So true! I mean, if they cared about it so much, they wouldn't have made this film in the first place. And since they did, they should have just stuck to it! I've always loved Pocahontas tonnes.

  • 1:11 heehee

  • Comment removed

  • LOVE the music in this scene. It's breathtaking.

  • in Pocahontas 2 she will marry another ( even when smith was ready 2 marry her)

  • i love her hair!!!!

  • 1:45 too beautiful for this world

  • they are one of the most wonderful disney couples EVER!! i love how when she "listened with her heart" she could understand english.

  • when she "listened with her heart" she could understand english is my favorite part~ i really wish that was true~ there'd be no need for ESLs and we'd all be multilingual

  • Haha..

    LOLING..

Its pretty amazing realy .. when you think about it lol .

  • how come at 2:01 she starts getting paler? is it because the fog was lifting?

  • hmm. go to 1:59 instead, cause 2:01 takes you to like 2:02

  • 2:11 the most beautiful animated woman

  • Well thats just my opinion

  • yeah! but even more beautiful than that is her sexy long neck at 3:52

  • Yes, I agree! But I think I meant 2:08

  • Yeah, what is the name of this song?

  • i love them...what's the song's name?

  • aww I love Niko and the other dude (the humming bird, I forgot his name)

  • The hummingbird's name is Flit.

  • oh, I just realized they are romeo and juliet...both stories have many resemblances...

  • the only thing that bugs me is that I wish John Smith had an english accent. He sounds american and then australian half of the time.

  • I love this movie. And this is my favorite scene in the film too. This scene is so well shot, all the angles and stuff. I think this is the most romantic Disney animated film. You posted a really good quality video, thanks.

  • They make a beautiful couple -- a perfect match :)

  • Love this scene. It's amazing.

How she stands in front of him... she doesn't seem real.

  • does anyone have the original score of pocahontas? i have the songs but im missing the instrumentals id really like to have this one 4 example

  • i agree...especially the music starting at 1:45, its a theme much used in the movie and so pretty!

  • A true example of the Disney Renaissance here. I really like how they conveyed this whole scene without a word being said. It just goes to show that you don't need constant chatter to be entertained.

  • pocahontas had probs two of the coolest sidekicks ever.

  • I love how they managed to create this silent scene out of animated characters, it's amazing! love it!! It like says more than words ever could! XxX

  • I love this scene, hubby HATES this scene: Oh yeah, he says, I just learned English in two seconds!!!!

  • That's the whole point of the scene. She doesn't "learn" english.

"Listen with your heart, you will understand".

They had a deep connection. They understood eachother on a spiritual level. They aren't speaking the same language.

  • yes, they are. she already knew just enough english for them to understand each other- the native americans picked it up from the first settlers in virginia.

  • Right. But, as we all know, Disney is highly inaccurate. This isn't supposed to be an educational movie. It's a love story.

She didn't know english. They understood eachother through the language of love (And by that, I don't mean Spanish or Italian)

  • it doesn't technically matter- like you said, it's a love story. most of what they say is in english so that WE can understand it!

but whatever language they're speaking, what they're saying is much more important :):)

  • This scene is amazing !

  • I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeee this scene....its like a dream....a magical romantic dream of love and existance of natural beauty and perfection

  • I saw an old painting of John Smith.....hes actually fat, bald and has mustache....

  • i wish i could meet a girl like that and we wud fall in love at first sight!

  • A love at first sight :-) :-)... :-(

  • disney really knows how to create epicly romantic/sexy scenes..

  • sigh, john smith is HAWT.

  • This video doesn't load, but I like this scene.

  • This makes me happy on the inside. :D

I wana watch this movie now.

  • This is my favorite scene in the entire movie. Every little detail is absolute perfection.

  • yes mine too...I love this part ...its so amazing..its like a dream...
