I searched for an access point on my ds and it has a red lock. According to the official Nintendo website that means that I need to find my WEP key. I logined to my router and went to "Wireless Settings" and I have a WPA security so how do I connect?

(Thats at least what the nintendo website says) So I go to my routers login and go to security and it says I have WPA as my security and it also says the key to it. I tried typing the WPA key for the WEP on the red lock and already knew it wouldn't accept it. Is there any other way to get online besides switching my router to a WEP security?

@zacgamer01 you could look for an unlocked one. it doesn't require a password ( WEP key ) if the one that is red is yours then, i guess you have to try to share your internet connection, in order for it to work, now you can change the settings so that nobody else around you can use the network, so once you get the access point then you enter the WEP ( before that, you may have to change it to WEP , if avaliable )

@kayla2fine4you I did change it to WEP, but someone I know said it could somehow seriously damage my computer(s). I have 2 computers and a laptop running off of it so if I screw them all up then I'll be screwed. I already changed it back to WPA after a day of having it on WEP. Thanks for the help though. :D

if u try to connect and u see a locked lock symbol then u need the wep key. its on the back of ur router a 10 digit number, or how ever many numbers

no, the WEP is the password you set for the WAN.

the number on the back of your router is the product sample number, or it could be any number of things.
