  • Top artist, top song and...top shirt!

  • WHAT GIANT FUCKING AMP IS THAT?

  • @Sethummms It's a Fender. Probably a Twin.

  • @biggerbigd Must be super custom because that thing is HUGE.

  • @Sethummms Well, it's a prop. I think he has the real amp in the corner of the big fake one so he can mic it. It is pretty funny though.

  • @biggerbigd Hah I wish it was real though.

  • Spacewolf!!

  • Great version.

  • This version destroys the album version. So fantastic.

  • @berkleejam YES IT DOES. Everything I see from him live is SO much better than the albums!!!!

  • Ryan is so gifted

  • what a great fucking song...wow

  • What's with the GIANT amplifier behind him? Clearly this is some sort of gimmick?

  • @TheElectromagnet Hahaha just noticed that! yeah that can't be real! the knobs are like 6 inches wide

  • This performance is insane. He rocks this so hard!

  • I was in the audience and was amazed that I had gotten ticket while walking along Broadway earlier, not bad from all the way from other side of the world while on holiday...

  • you fuckin beauty!!!

  • I'm sorry. This is just flat out great.

  • @MattJZ NO NEED to be sorry!! You are so correct!!!!!

  • The mans a fucking genius.

  • RIP spacewolf

  • @cjonezz1 Gibson ES-355

  • I watch this several times a week and can't tell you how much I hate that stupid Lenscrafters joke at the beginning and then Paul Shaffer's annoying laugh "haaaaa" But awesome performance by Ryan, as usual

  • RIP Chris (bass player)

  • Spacewolf

  • He's so pasionate and hot, I bet he is such a good lover.

  • @cupcake099 He is.

  • Yeah, come to norway next time Ryan!:D

  • how old is ryan adams? he looks really young. i always assumed, from his voice and his lyrics, that he was older...

  • He was born in 1974. I totally agree with you!

  • just turned 35

  • he looks alot like river cuomo in this

  • Ryan in a Maiden shirt! How cool is that?!? I have been a huge RA fan for ages, and it kills me to say it, but Cardinology sucked. That's the FIRST time I have ever been disappointed by a Cardinals album. But, hot damn, this live version of Fix It is soooo much better than anything on the album!

  • Cardinoligy is great. Ok, maybe 3 or 4 song aren't good.

  • ryan adams is a big iron maiden fan, btw :D

  • i am so glad i go to see them.ryan and the cardinals are truly the best live band on planet earth hands down!there live shows are like u said better than the albums.they have the ultimate band.

  • Best musician on earth indeed. I too have been saying that for a long time.

  • Best musician on earth.

  • @krystaa1 best musician on earth?? i love Ryan Adams but he is not even in the top 10 musicians on earth.

  • @23mccraw it's all opinion. hahaha!

  • I've said it before and I'm going to say it again: I TRULY believe that the live versions of these songs from the last Cardinals album (and Easy Tiger as well) sound BETTER than the cds! THEY DO! WHAT A GREAT FUCKING BAND!!!! PLAYING FUCKING KILLER TUNES!!!! Hands down Ryan Adams and the Cardinals are the best live band I have EVER heard!!!! Unfortunately I have NOT seen them live myself.

  • everything just opens up at 2:09. Brilliant.

  • nice video - god I hate Letterman though!

  • que amp usa? :o

  • I think Ryan Adams is one of the truly great singer/songwriters of his time, but as a guy, I can't for the world figure out why women swoon over him. I guess fame trumps looks (whoops, now I am starting to sound like angry Jeff)

  • srhs-He's friggin hot! Those lips..........and superior fashion sense. LOL!!!!!

  • Essa música é do caralho!!!

  • is that monstrosity really the amplifier ryan's playing out of?

  • Nah, that's fake. Funny though, right?

  • Its just a cabinet that hold 4 amps, made to look like a really big Princeton amp.

  • Ryan visit spain!!!

  • I like this version better than the album version. I wish it was on the album instead.

  • to assault me or anyone for that matter that is NOT in the public spotlight is not only ignorant, but is pathetic... I laugh at you yet I feel bad for your life and those that have to put up with it...do us all a favor and kill yourself!

  • Poor you. I can recommend a good therapist. Call me.

  • "the best lack all conviction while the worst are full of passionate intensity"

  • His glasses are cool. His hair just looks good. And his name IS ryan adams, he didn't robbed it.

Jeff you are a little gaylord.

  • Jeff you dense twat he was born David Ryan Adams....I reckon I would have 'dropped' David too. He's had a good run in a mostly cynical business, and has worked with some great artists and vice versa, and above all has written songs that most modern higher profile singer/songwriters couldn't dream up in a million years. Original, underrated, and a great performer. I bet you've worn some pretty shitty clothes in your time eh? It's what comes from 'inside' the man that matters - as with you dick.

  • wow, listen to this guy.

  • Ahh Jeff. So sad, man. Each of your criticisms is a comment on his appearance. I hope some day your finally happy enough with yourself, to not judge another on what they wear or look like. I'm truly sad for ya, man. Your comments speak volumes about you. Hope you someday come to some true depth and personal honesty. It's liberating.

  • that IS his name ... david ryan adams. what r you talking about?

  • chief.

  • His amp could be a bit bigger though:)

  • Yeah, cardinology is a solid, but it sounds so much better and so much more 'ryan adams' live.

  • I would say 5'7" or 5'8".

  • i saw these guys live super skills explosive, they opened up for oasis the greatist gig ive ever been to

  • Yeah - LOVE R.A. - but the Cardinals are freaking amazing too. That guitar solo at the end was perfection.

  • i love it..

  • LOVE this song!

Odd song to be wearing an Iron Maiden shirt tho.. :)

  • Ryan Adams has always been perhaps one of the nicest voices on the planet. I think anyway.

  • What a voice! wow!

  • What's with the huge Fender amp?

  • its actually 4 amps inside a cabinet

  • no its not. its an artifact. he uses normal amps, two fender twin reverbs if i remember right

  • no, i think the other guy is right, i think there's 4 amps in there and the "cabinet" is made to look like one big huge amp.

  • maybe, maybe

  • I really LOVE his glasses. They're great.

  • he's way more talented than i wish he was. bah.

  • lol what the hell is that huge fender amp that thing is awesome.

  • It a cabinet that holds four amps. you can order one from the fender custom shop

  • Kind of looks like Rivers Cuomo here.

  • Even though Letterman can be a bit of a douche, the man still has excellent taste. I love that he's had both Tom Waits and Ryan Adams on the show so often. Two of my all time favorites.

  • my top two favorites!

    cool!

  • Haha, nice! I love them both. Tom Waits is amazing, and Ryan is one of my all time favorites too.

  • I think he sounds great... and of course he could wear a burlap bag and still look good!

  • i don't know what was going on that day with Ryan, but i have never seen/heard him perform "Fix It" like this before. Damn...

  • much better than the album version. the producer on that deserves to be shot for incompetence.

  • does anyone else think that Ryan Adams looks like Rick Moranis' love child?

  • aww thats funny... but no ... Ryan Adams is like the hottest thing.. I think its these glasses that may him look like that actor !!

  • yup, 100% spaceball

  • huge amp

  • love how Letterman always has him on

  • yes, going to see him on sunday!!!!!

  • They sounded really tight that night.

  • Letterman totally rocks!

  • nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Damn, I love Ryan and the Cardinals!

  • some things can't be fixed

  • Love Ryan Adams, can't stand Letterman.

  • letterman is such a munter

  • What's a munter? Does that mean prick? If so, I agree.

  • I hate to tell you but that won't be happening any time soon. In march he will be stepping away from music possibly for good due to lingering health problems.

  • What health problems? I thought Ryan gave up drugs and heavy drinking a couple of years now.

  • That's true but he is suffering from a ligering inner ear problem that is messing with his hearing and he's not sure what will come of it.

  • I don't understand why anyone would be pissed if someone likes their music enough to wear their t-shirt. I'd be flattered.

  • Yes, he really likes Iron Maiden. He's a huge fan of metal.

  • Does anyone know anything about that amp he's using?

  • The giant amp isn't really an amp at all. It's just a housing for his amps. He's using four Fender Princetons in there.

  • what the year of this guitar he plays?

  • Wish I were you.

  • Noel

  • best song on the album.

  • Ryan is so underrated!!Great record go buy

  • I love his constant multi-genre evolution, I mean, this is such a far stretch from "Jacksonville City Nights", it's almost hard to believe. All things considered, he might be the greatest songwriter of our generation, if not also the most prolific... And he still reminds me of Rick Moranis when he wears those glasses.

  • I love your comment!

  • those glasses are hot !

  • What a great f**k you song. Just paid $260 to see him in Atlanta in March. IF the tix are real, I'll have no regrets! Hope he changes his mind about ditching the Cardinals.

  • Absolutely brilliant. I've played this song to death on my ipod (and Magick, the following track on the album). Thank God no-one can hear me sing it in the car on the way to work every day!

  • Dig the Iron Maiden T' from the album Stranger In a Strange Land late 80's. Big contrast between Maiden and Adams. Dude gets influences from everybody.

  • Great live performance. Love this song!

  • What an amazing song, I wish it would last longer, but hey good stuff comes in small packages, just like "Everybody Knows" short but powerful songs, I fucking Love Ryan Adams.

  • who likes electric guitar but doesn't like Iron Maiden??

  • a fuckload of people

  • songs like this make my life better.

  • Live version is so much better than recorded version. You got it down live guys. Recorded is awesome but live has the mojo!

  • I find that is true with most Ryan songs, his voice live is so pure.

  • Essa música é foda!!!!!!!!

  • Cool!

  • Fuck! can that guy sing!

  • i'd hate to be a roadie for a show that uses the amp that he's using on this. damn. huuuuuuuge....

  • I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's a fake... = P

I'm amazed no one has noticed that until now, though.

  • It's not a real amp...and it's on wheels. It's housing four Fender Princeton amps.

  • AWESOME!!!!!!!!

  • i've once thought ryan adams had no stage presence but after viewing some interviews, i so appreciate his individuality and now understand why he performs the way he does. he just wants to 'f*cken make good music'...and that, he does very well!

  • amazing songwriter. he's one of a kind.

  • Best songwriter of this generation. plus extra kudos for being from North Carolina!

  • aparently ryan listens to alot of black metal

  • whiskeytown is great especially strangers almanac one of my personal favorites!!!

  • fucking funny guy, wearing a iron maiden shirt:DDDD

  • ok...since the first time i ve heard this song i fell in love with it...i dunno who these guys are,...but...very beautiful voice, very very very nice guitar riffs, excellent song...who is the cardinals and who is ryan adams?they r not together?wow they should be...

  • Ryan Adams is one of the best if not the best songwriter of the last 50 years!! check him out especially an album called "29"..its amazing, if you dont dig that one then there are about 16 other albums he has done since the arly 90's till now, hope you check the other albums out

    regards,

    Victorian Dad

  • kadir1982- Checkout the band Ryan was in before the Cardinals (Whiskeytown) for some additional context. Adams is one of the most talented artists in America today.

  • Ryan Adams writes the most amazing songs today in America. If you think you like American country music but at the same time, can't stand it and if you want to have a near-death experience from listening to good music, then you need to add Ryan Adams to your music list.

  • ryan adams is in another league than connor oberst.connor sucks and sounds like he has shit in his throat and pants when he sings.ryan is the man no buts about it!cardinals fuckin rock!

  • Its all opinion.. I think Ryans better but Connor is not terrible by any small means. I think we're lucky to have musicians that still actually care about "meaning and depth" in a song and not just studio produced bullshit.. So dont hate just appreciate... But yes Ryan and the Cardinals rule the earth like Zombies running all around...

  • i agree, both are good but i favor adams a bit more.

  • As do I.

  • he is a little man...good music always

  • Neal Casal is awesome; the glue that hold this band together. Tasty guitar, great harmonizing.

  • Hi all

Big fan of this man and I think he just gets better and better, such a huge talent and should be given more credit at times. And the cardinals are amazing too. Great combo and mindblowing music, new album is dynamite.

  • this is kinda similar to 'Let It Ride' i feel.

  • pretty fuckin' awesome

  • Great song, and performance (and people say the cards are sloppy live). I can't understand these people bashing cardinology. Yes it's different, yes the production sounds different than other albums, its ryan adams! what do you expect? i love just about every ryan adams song i have ever heard because they are all passionate in different ways.

  • always on letterman

  • Well, he's already working on a new album. And he said that a lot of the songs are more in the crossed out name/cobwebs direction. I don't really understand the appeal for this song.

  • I agree mate, got into him when i was 18, whiskeytown days, heartbreaker, gold.. seen him few years back few times during heartbreaker. Stiil buy all the albums, but i preffer his solo stuff.. just me though..

  • The guy is always original and shows you something new with every album. Very few artists can say that.

  • i love his stuff so much, i got most of his records double. cd and vinyl

  • Auuuuuuuuu!! How about a tour in Europe, Ryan? And this time come to Finland, too. I miss ya.

  • I think Ryans new stuff is bloody fantastic. Im only 17 and i have every album including all his Whiskeytown stuff. Its all amazing. I think Cardinology is a bit different and a bit more 'modern' than his previous stuff and i think thats what he was trying to achieve.

  • All my friends dont know what Im talking about when I tell them about this guy. I just love pretty much everything hes done. I have every album two on vinyl. every whiskeytown, right now Im looking for THE FINGER, WE ARE FUCK YOU, that thing he did with Jesse Manlin. Hes just amazing.

  • screw that, how many people hear know who hazy malaze is? neal casal is the shit!

  • I'd love to know how many of Ryan's "fans" ever even listened to Whiskeytown.

  • I just got Whiskeytown's Pneumonia and a2 disc strangers almanac album. Pneumonia is awesome. I've wore that cd out. Stranges almanac has some catchy songs on it too.

  • Whiskeytown's finest album."Faithless Street" check it out!!!

  • I bought that when it came out in Raleigh! Great record! It's hard to believe that this version of Ryan is the same that fronted that incredible band.

  • I found a bunch of unreleased Whiskeytown songs on a bittorrent website. It's called "those weren't the days" a pre-Strangers Almanac album. or "demos" ITS REAL GOOD!! You guys should try to find it. There was nothing like listening to a new Whiskeytown album for the first time. You can relive that again!!!
