No film causes such weird feeling. You can't describe it, but you know it is there. You just want to walk .. on endless field .. with this song playing..
One of my favorite movies. My favorite part is when Charlie And Bob are sitting in the field talking about how how they have to take in Jesse. When they walk about jesse gets angry and Says "From now on, you'll ask for my permission! From now on, you'll ask to be excused!" Great scene. Also when Jesse is standing on the ice talking to Charlie. Great scenes. Beautiful movie and soundtrack.
I too consider this to be an unappreciated masterpiece. It is my favorite film of all time. What a shame that such brillance goes unrecognized. Casey Affleck's performance is a revelation. This is quite a audacious piece of filmaking. The open spaces and stares say way more then a dozen wagon chases, gunfights, and high noon confrontations. What a serious statement to come out in a time when current cinema has grown medicore and stagnant. Bravo to Andrew Dominick.
i love this movie. what's crazy is they play this song on the Water for Elephants trailer and it took me SO LONG to remember where I had heard this song. really bizarre they took it from this movie. amazing.
"I go on journeys out of my body and look at my red hands and my mean face and I wonder about that man who's gone so wrong. I've been becoming a problem to myself."
I love brad pitt, i think some people put him off, cos they think hes just a bit of a pretty boy, well theres no denying hes fit, but hes such a good actor, and i like all of the films i have seen him in, and i like that he doesnt just do big blockbuster films
There isn't a word to desribe the perfection of this film. I don't think anyone can understand what a true masterpiece is until they see this, and only those of us who know what to appreciate in film will truly understand it. I feel like I am part of a secret club of only a few members, and we have such brilliance all to ourselves.
@MrTimeControl agreed...i always ask people if they saw this movie...those who have..dont get it like i do...and thos who havnt well..whateer...but yea...some movie eh/..i actually watched it...then when it was over .watched it again/...back to back...ive never done that with a movie b4...suck brilliance
in a way i am glad this movie never got recognition. Critics and stupid people havent ruined it yet with over analyzing and ignorant reviews or comments. None of my friends have seen it and in a way i feel selfish not showing them but i just dont want it to become anything. I dont wnat it to become just another film.
After watching this movie several times and being unable to describe it, it comes down to what Dick Liddle knew best, poetry. This whole movie is a single poem about the tragedy of Jesse James' and Robert Ford's lives and what was lost and forgotten through the hysteria and legend of Jesse.
The best part of the movie was when Jesse and his brother was looking at each other after they robbed the train. There was no dialouge but you could feel what they were saying. His older brother was disappointed in the way he had raised Jesse to be, he tried to keep Jesse on a narrow path and raise him right, he was disappointed in himself, BEST MOVIE EVER
When listening to this i feel thankful to the Lord that he gave some people such gifts as to create this music. There is so much beauty in this i feel like my heart is gonna burst.
Whenever I hear this song I think about the times when I was three and my brother Devon who was six would spend summer nights with our grandmother Nancy and grandpop Dal in Kansas. Every night we would play in the wheat fields and chase the dogs and look for garden snakes. Great times. The music in this movie was pure excellence. Brilliant!
Just beautiful... I have so much respect for composers, especially brilliant ones such as Nick Cave and Warren Ellis who composed this stunning piece.
@TheKipKadillac A celesta. It resembles a keyboard but sounds like a glockenspiel, sorta. And then they use violins and cellos, guitars, chimes, harps. What ever instrument there is I'm sure they used! Your right, it is amazing.!
Feels like music not made for this earth, just sends chills through my spine every time I listen to it. Brilliant movie as well, some awesome photo shots
@CTrace I think it may be because "Song for..." implies something in mood and tone that fits the characters in the film and how they are portrayed; "Song For Jesse" is a soft, minimal and brief piece. It's charming and pretty and underspoken at the same time. "Song For Bob" starts off moody and imposing and slowly builds into a heady and beautifully sad, rich, and layered piece. I think saying "Jesse's Song" or "Bob's Song" implies something written to them rather than for them.
Everytime i watch the scene where this song plays, and listen to this song anywhere, i get shivers up my spine and feel for Jesse's struggle. That is an achievement among many others that i respect most in this film!!!!!
I think the movie studios end up owning the rights to music composed for films and they use them for trailers and other things - Hans Zimmers score for The Thin Red Line has been used in alot of trailers I think the first was Pearl Harbour
didnt the music fit the movie perfectly? yeaaah that probably sounds cliche here, but i mean it REEAAAALLLYY fit the movie. Definitely an underrated film.
@Flameincheese Fucking damn strait, all these fucking children who only know this song because of that, this film deserved SO much more fucking credit than it got. So again, FUCK WATER FOR ELEPHANTS, THIS IS A FUCKING REAL FILM!!!

@ASacredSpirit Dude... Same here. First thing I said last night when I saw that trailer before True Grit... I thought, "Really? REALLY?" I'm glad I wasn't the only one who noticed it.
The Assassination of Jesse James is a great film, and Nick Cave is a fantastic musician, and now this wonderful song will be known for that stupid trailer instead of the original, beautiful images it was meant to set a tone for.
@ilovecorn97: I did! I fell in love with the trailer for Water For Elephants and with the song that accompanies it. I am so looking forward to that film (and I know I'm gonna cry...) lol
What the hell is Water For Elephants? I came to this video to listen to this music that was specifically made for this wonderful movie, but all I see is people for some reason praising Water For Elephants as if that was what gave birth to this piece.
@cannabisabuser Water for Elephants is a 2011 movie based on a bestselling novel. Pple are likely praising it because it's trailer is where these ppl would've first heard this. They're not just praising this bcos of that though, they are embracing the fact that a piece so beautiful from an obviously wonderful movie can be a part of another story which can be just as wonderful as this movie,,perhaps even bcos of this music. I think that commenting "water for elephants" on this video is like going to a Beatles video and writing "ACROSS THE UNIVERSE" and leaving it at that. The Assasination of Jesse James and it's score were both beautifully made, and it deserves way more credit that just calling it worthy because it is in a trailer for an upcoming movie. Just sayin'
@btopsmoviechannel i think there s another song in the trailer for water for elephants...when that elephant comes out that...whatever that is..you don t happen to know that song to?:D
@aceupyoursleeve2 I am very much aware that this is NOT from Water for Elephants. It's from the trailer, dip shit. I am just mentioning Water for Elephants because the trailer was recently released.
2007 Oscars were BULLSHIT!!!! No Country for Old Men - pathetic flat and dull film, The ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD is the BEST MOVIE OF 2007!
No Country for Old Men was still an amazing modern western; but there's no denying that this score deserved some recognition. Reckon ours will have to do for time to come.
Un des meilleurs film qu'il m'ait été donné de voir, jeu de rôle d'une rare intensité entre les divers protagonistes, prenant, des images et angles de vue parfois tout bonnement divin. Bref, un film qui laisse des traces...
One of the best and misunderstood Movies in the last years, besides Moon and The Road. The best Moviesoundtrack besides Haibane Renmei, Cyrano de Bergerac and In Bruges.
Hey man he was just saying that this movie never got what it deserved and he is exceptionally correct. It never did! It should of. But some people just are not deep to understand this movie. There are a lot of hidden messages when Jesse and Robbert speak. And the music is so atmospheric. Not to mention the shear quality of acting. This was one of the top movies for me. And trust me i have many.
You know what. Fuck the Black Eyed Peas, Katy Perry, and all the rest of those phonies out there only making music because of the money. THIS is real music.
Why we arent concentrated on make simillar type of movies??! this is super movie!, ah in Robert Ford. place i wouldnt do that... Btw : I would AAA this movie just like Avatar... because i like Avatar not for effects, but because of sense, which actually are simillar in way we are "digging" in to wild,in to animals home...
its been said a hundred times already, but this movie is fucking perfect. Such artistry in film making has become lost to the formula of the summer blockbuster.
this is the best movie i've seen for a long time. nick cave and warres ellis are the best musicians of our time. they are the best and last of their kind.
This is one of my Favorite movies, ever. I have always loved western movies and am intrigued by the lifestyle. The music and the movie together were masterfully put together. @pAiNfUl666d3ath, thumbs up

2007 Oscars were BULLSHIT!!!! No Country for Old Men - pathetic flat and dull film, The ASSASSINATION OF JESSE JAMES BY THE COWARD ROBERT FORD is the BEST MOVIE OF 2007!

@MegaHavesomefun no country is excellent but this film has more soul. I think.

No Country for Old Men was still an amazing modern western; but there's no denying that this score deserved some recognition. Reckon ours will have to do for time to come.

@LSnicket4 I love that movie, but another modern western i really love is 3:10 To Yuma..

this song always reminds me of the scene from Waterworld when they go to dry land.

THIS is real music.

in turkish . . . (1)

its been said a hundred times already, but this movie is fucking perfect. Such artistry in film making has become lost to the formula of the summer blockbuster.
