I don't know....I love me some choral music, I just think the charm of this song is lost when to many choral...cliche's, I suppose?...are conceded. The arrangement leaves, something to be desired...a kind of...I don't know...perhaps its the intense enunciation and the rounding out of the vowels.
Well performed, but I think rather generic as far as arrangement and composition/performance go. On the right track though.
@farmerboy56 You are correct, or at least it was collected there. I'm sure it was written by one man, not sure if it was written for one voice, and judging by its being recorded in the Sacred Harp, I would assume there is at least an arrangement for a choir, though it would be for Shape-Note singing, no doubt...which, I think, would work brilliantly. The modern arrangement and delivery just seems a little...I don't know. Bland? The lone voice is just my preference for this one anyway.
