@HungeryDead actually they are a development of the first vtol aircraft the SC1 which was designed and built in Ireland by Shorts, the aircraft was sent to Hawker to be developed further into the harrier via the P.1127 and the kestrel, the SC1 first flew in 1957 long before the harier even existed .
