@TheReducks As Ive played hockey for about 15 years, I can tell you the skates offer tons of protection. There is no way the blade would even come close to cutting the skate. Those skates probably cost over $300 and are most likely customized to the players liking. Theres tons of padding in todays skates.

It didn't seem like much, but if there is one thing that the NHL has always taken very seriously is using your skate against someone like Ryan did. For all of the people that don't understand the severity of this offense in comparison to Stoll or Chara - Using the blade of your skate is far more dangerous than any cross check. A skate blade is essentially a knife. If the blade cuts through the top of a skate (which is very possible), it could cut the foot and likely end a player's season, if not career. While it may not be as flashy as a huge cross check, it's more dangerous, and something that is completely frowned upon at all levels.
@bogey55. it's not as bad as you think. a stomp has no threat of cutting into the boot, the reason why you see people's legs, arms and in zedniks or malarchuks case, throat cut. is the slicing action of the blade, stomping will do nothing essentially.

@theONEshot17 once you ruin your foot or ankle, it will never be the same, of course it can end a career, so can a hit from behind, but a hit from behind isnt using a weapon, a blade is. In a court of law, getting hit from behind is considered "assault", getting cut or stabbed with a blade is considered "assault with a deadly weapon", they are two completely different things, it doesnt change in hockey.
Stoll slams White and INJURES him and gets one freakin game. Bobby causes no injury, commentators didnt even notice, but because hes in a Ducks jersey he gets 2 games. What total bs.

my younger bro was ranked top 5 in canada and he was at this tournament with all these scouts for going to the WHL and he got tripped and when he went to get up the ref said he kicked the kid and got thrown out of the tournament, 5 scouts went to him after that happend and they said "your very lucky your this good at hockey cause if you wernt i wouldnt offer you to the kelowna rockets" he took it and is playing on the kelowna rockets but if it were somone who wasnt as good, their career is over

@dinkenheimer the Subban vs Stall incident from last year in the playoffs wasn't intentional like this play was and it didn't deserve a suspension ( watch?v=8zMj70ISxVE ). This is the first time I have really noticed a stomp like this in a game and I think the NHL acted correctly with the 2 game suspension.

Any mentally stable hockey fan would agree with me. Ryan didnt slam Blums unprotected face into the boards (ala Stoll). If the NHL is gonna hand out suspensions on intent to injure, then make the suspensions more consistant. Especially during the playoffs.

It didn't seem like much, but if there is one thing that the NHL has always taken very seriously is using your skate against someone like Ryan did. Every single time this has happened the NHL has come down hard. So for people trying to defend Bobby Ryan don't bother. The suspension was well deserved.

For all of the people that don't understand the severity of this offense in comparison to Stoll or Chara - Using the blade of your skate is far more dangerous than any cross check. A skate blade is essentially a knife. If the blade cuts through the top of a skate (which is very possible), it could cut the foot and likely end a player's season, if not career. While it may not be as flashy as a huge cross check, it's more dangerous, and something that is completely frowned upon at all levels.

@bogey55. it's not as bad as you think. a stomp has no threat of cutting into the boot, the reason why you see people's legs, arms and in zedniks or malarchuks case, throat cut. is the slicing action of the blade, stomping will do nothing essentially.

@bogey55 are you dumb ? a stomp on the foot could only end some ones carreer if they had enough force to break through the skate, the skin and sever a bone. even then surgery could fix it. i have never herd of someones career ending from this. a headshot like charas on the other had can give you a sever concussion which could more likly end your career and your life early. reaserch has shown that concussions have been at fault for brain damage causing death. know what your talkin about dumbass

@theONEshot17 once you ruin your foot or ankle, it will never be the same, of course it can end a career, so can a hit from behind, but a hit from behind isnt using a weapon, a blade is. In a court of law, getting hit from behind is considered "assault", getting cut or stabbed with a blade is considered "assault with a deadly weapon", they are two completely different things, it doesnt change in hockey.
