Robert, you mention FPV Goggle systems. I would love to try something like this with my model ship but I have no idea how they work. Where do I look to get them? Any help is appreciated.
Your thumb wouldn't slip off if you'd fly with your thumb and pointer finger. I used you fly with my thumb until I got into high performance stuff like you and a friend of mine told me the same thing and he said you will feel the airplane better and have better control. I did it and it works. That was 22 years ago and never went back to the thumbs only.
@APACHEMAN747 Yes I guess, out of the goodness of my heart, I will build you one and give it to you as a gift. Oh Credit card details would be good just so I can get your delivery address from that :D
@lerto89 : It can reach for a few miles, much further than you could see. I've used FPV Goggle systems with onboard camera and been able to fly 1 1/2 miles away before I turned back. Quality Transmitters and Receivers are the key to confidence in control. Thanks ~~Robert.
Nice video. Nice lookin plane. it's a shame that the motor quit on ya and I love the part at the end when it runs off the runway a bit and you start coaching her with encouraging words. I do the same thing with my heli, lol. Sometimes ya just gotta talk to them. Nice landing, too.
That shows just how good the real deal bird was designed !!! They can actually fly on 2 engines in an emergency, not recommended but they can. I spent 5 years in the U.S.C.G. as an AD3 in the 70s. Flght Mech HU16e Ol'Goat and HH52a Sea Guardian SARcrewman. Gotta go out, don't gotta come back. 4 Winged S,s.
@Sanvorae : To build new you are looking around $2000 dollars. The kit alone is $500, the Retracts around $300. Then motors, receiver, servos, air line kit and misc parts. Thanks for the question.. ~~Robert.
Great save on the take off. As you see in the video i sent i had engine quit in flight and see can see how the airplane reacted when it happened. man I was all over the rudder just to keep her straight and level. Never make a turn into the dead engine she will snap roll before you know it and land her hot with no flaps you need all the airspeed so the rudder will be affective. Ive lost two C-130s due to engines failing on one side.Thats why i went to electrics their more reliable .
@fordtech08 : I know exactly what you mean. Every tip I have ever given to other pilots about engine out was racing through my mind! LOL. I would go electric too, but it's just so cool with the 4 nitros buzzing! Thanks for the cool comment man! and the video response!
For a minute there just after you Lifted she rolled on you I was like rudder rudder aileron and you came out of it, then it was ok now whats going on? Oh Engine out I see. that was close good job handling the big bird... Diamonds >>>>
Gutsy flying, RCRB!! A little thing like an IFE doesn't phase you!! Maybe with a little foamie I wouldn't care, but that gem of a plane would command a lot more respect and caution from this Chickens**t pilot!! Woot!!!
@Dad3Sons : Believe me, my heart was pounding when I realized I had an engine out. Thankfully it was an inboard engine though. Thanks for the cool comment man!
Awe man ya had me on my toes the whole time. Word of advice... lol if you get a flame out LLLLLAAAAANNNNNNNNNNDDDDDD the motha! But nooooooo, you had to do a couple circuts didn't ya????Surprised ya didn't try some rolls and loops too! Great job man, I was cheerin for ya!
@youtwoba : LOL, thanks Tom! I was nearly holding my breath the whole flight. All I wanted to do was land, but I didnt want to panic at the same time either. It actually flew half decent, just had to hold a bit of rudder. Again, Thanks Tom! Appreciate the Cheer!
Nice save but one word of caution not a good idea having someone touch your transmitter while you are flying. He did not know where your flap switch was. In my opinion just not a good idea letting some fool with your controls. I am sure he meant good and was trying to help you out.
@photobart1 : It's all good, the guy you heard was the original owner of this C-130. He's also the field trainer out there. We fly together all the time so I had to problem with him flipping the flaps on since I was full on busy controlling the yaw. Of course you heard him say he wasnt sure where I programmed flaps so he didnt touch the radio. But you're right though, no one should be touching the radio except your spotter in an emergency, a spotter you know and trust.
@carlosmurphy4u : Check it out, Hobby-Lobby FlyCamOneHD camera. Has a belt clip that also allows you to slip onto a baseball cap. Instant Hat Cam! Unfortunately, there is no zoom you can control while in hatcam mode. But for a Very Small Lightweight camera, this thing takes some awesome video.
Wow a great landing, the scale speed at touch down must have been 300+ mph!!
