I think I like the dash layout of the older model better than this one, this one looks a little inflated and occupies a tad to much space, also the radio control buttons are scattered to far out over the dash, replacing the radio with a space kit might be impossible and the remaining buttons over the dash will serve no purpose.
Looks pretty cool, but why do modded ones brake all the time? I keep hearing that once you mod it, it becomes extremely weak. Prone to failures. Where as other cars are less prone. Some cars like the Cobalt SS/TC become more reliable when you mod it because GM's so cheap and put plastic everywhere.
@vahdyx It's not that modded ones break, it's that there are stupid people doing stupid things to their cars. It happens to more than just Mazdas believe me. Just like with any car you've got to mod it right.

We have a 2009 white Speed3. I wanted a red one, but we got a better deal on a white one (Three dealers...one car each). Most common remark from a driver whose (insert car here) just got it's rear handed to it: "What the hell is that?" I always say it is a "Kia" just to throw them off. Absolutely invisible to police. a great sleeper. Surprisingly, doesn't corner as well as my former 2000 Mustang. Stops so quick you have to watch the mirror for tailgaters.

Okay so I have a 2005 Acura RSX type S, and my car comes with 210 hp stock. All engine....no turbo. Why is it faster than this car in the 1/4 mile and 0-60 ? I only ask because I have a baby on the way and I was looking into getting a car that is still fast but has enough room for a family...ya know.

Still, I think the MS3 or Cruze SS (if real) will be my next car. When I done with College, I'll get something better.

I just picked up the 2011 model in Black earlier this week. I like red, And the blue is certainly pretty on this car but every color I looked at other than black looked like a Pokemon from the front. Other than there being quite a lot of torque steer through first and second I've found it to be a great little car.

@DaveDude571 Are you a true car enthusiast? If you are, theres no better way to be one with your car unless you have a manuel. Speed 3 is definitly better than your normal 3. However, if this is a car your gonna get rid of, and already plan on getting rid of, don't go for the speed. Speed6 is indeed a good car, but it shares the same engine as the 3, so its up to you really. If i had to chose between those, I'd get a speed 3. my personal want will always be the rx-8

So I started thinking more about the speed3 and the speed6 and I decided that the speed6 has more than I would ever need (haha even the speed3 has more than I would ever need) and it's too expensive for how many miles most of them have now. I think I will eventually get a 2010 mazdaspeed 3 and enjoy driving a stick shift.

It sucked up you learned on a beat up can and get into your new mazda and go crazy on the clutch cause your used to a crappy one =P. Just have someone sit next to you and teach you to get the full details on what to do and what to do the least.

@k6k6k6Darkie can't remember who did the comparison, but they ran this with the WRX, and this beat the subie int he slalom. that's FWD beating AWD in handling, go Mazda.
I test drove one yesterday. I'm 5"8 and I felt the roof was right on me. There would probably be plenty of leg space for you in this car, it is spacious in that reguards but you would have to drive with your head out of the sunroof.
Almost bought one of these, but I went with the regular 3s instead. Why? Because the Speed 3 only takes premium gas AND gets about 5 MPG less than the 3. Yes, yes, I KNOW you're trading that premium gale and mileage for power, but who does this really make sense for in our world of crippled economy and $3.00+ (regular) gas? I enjoyed my test drive of the Speed 3, but not enough to justify paying nearly .25 more per mile over the lifetime of the car. That's a LOT of money, Youtubers!
I've been looking at sporty cars in this price range and this can't even compare to a V6 mustang. The mustang is faster 0-60, 1/4 mile, better brakes, handles better, and gets better mileage. Not sure on warranty but the Mustang probably has that too. If you want performance for the price this isn't it. It would be better if you have people to drive around or have to drive in the snow in the winter. I'm not sure about finish quality though I might need a test drive.
@SauceCaptain Yep if u don't gotta drive in the snow, or you aren't worried about putting a car seat in the back for a kid Mustang v6 is the best deal out right now....but if u live up north where snow is an issue, front wheel drive, or AWD is a luxary. If you got the money the new 2011 subaru wrx will beat the new v6 mustang on the 1/4 mile and 0-60 no bull shit, and i aint talkin about the STI, i mean the WRX, look into it bro it might be worth the extra 4,000.

@Brims131 well obviously you wont get too far in a muscle car, or anything with loads of power, especially if you've got an iron foot. It's really about how prepared you are for the snow, if your car's got snow tires, if you know how to handle it in the weather that you're driving it etc. If you're an idiot about it you can drive a tank and end in a ditch. Tirerack.com does reviews for tires and things, their snow tire review used a 3 series RWD bmw, drove pretty well in deep snow.
The 2007 is FASTER 0n 0-60 and quarter mile. This driver is dreaming. Yes, the new speed3 may handle a bit better and stop a bit faster BUT overall, the 07 is the model to own. If only they would put that new hood on the 07 model..now that would be HOT.

@TheUberDeity lol even the VQ35DE 350z's are fast than the speed3 stock for stock. modded you can't compare a FI engine to a NA engine. The initial possibilities are unfair when you can get 50+h from a tune and a few bolt ons from the speed 3 whereas you can maybe get 30hp from full bolt ons and a tune of the Z. The HR and 370z blow even modded MSP3's out of the water until they start putting close to 300whp which isnt that hard to obtain you just dont see many that do.
Man, i would love to get the speed3, i have a 2005 mazda3 s and love it very much, would like to pay it off first and then get the speed3, also need to test drive before i actually like it

I own a 2010 Mazda 3 s hatch. I felt the same way at first, it is ugly, but it grew on me. As for the car itself, when I test drove it I was hooked. The quality, it won Highest Resale Value award over the perennial Honda Civic, and you can feel the quality not only in the interior but also in the way it drives. Its chassis set up is fantastic, ride quality superb. And as for that front end "smile" it grows on you as well as on your face when you are driving it.
6.4sec 0-60?? That doesn't seem right. My '03 WRX is quicker off the line stock by almost a full second. Don't get me wrong, my wife owns a Mazda3 Sport and I love the damn thing....great handling, quick acceleration, quiet, comfortable, room, etc etc. But that 6.4 number bothers me. Maybe I expect more from 263HP versus 227HP? Love Mazda!!!
@spd2549 but after the AWD launch of the WRX the mazdaspeed will catch and pass it easily. You get more from the mazda than the WRX, you get better handling, better braking, better interior, more power. the only advantage of the WRX over the MAZDA is the AWD,
@deadbeat86 - That's kind of what I already said. My wife's stock 3 5-door does handle better than my WRX, the interior is nice. I love it, as I said. All I was pointing out was the 0-60 time. Whoever was driving for this review didn't do it any justice. According to Car and Driver, they were able to get times in the 5 second range, which sounds more like it's capabilities.
Damn nice car, but I gotta go with the lower priced and much more fuel efficient non-turbo model.

i want the mazdaspeed ^ back get rid of hat piece a shit v6 versions i hate FWD there are alota great cars like this one that have really good power to weight ration but the tires always struggle to handle all the power wish they made this car RWD or AWD woulda been the best like its previous predicesser the MS6 then that woulda been great but i do have to say i do like this car not to fond of that grill looks like a balooga whale

@DaveDude571 Are you a true car enthusiast? If you are, theres no better way to be one with your car unless you have a manuel. Speed 3 is definitly better than your normal 3. However, if this is a car your gonna get rid of, and already plan on getting rid of, don't go for the speed. Speed6 is indeed a good car, but it shares the same engine as the 3, so its up to you really. If i had to chose between those, I'd get a speed 3. my personal want will always be the rx-8

@orochiThing hey I appreciate the help. I have been thinking and alright I'll be honest, I have never owned a manual, but I really want to learn more and get one. So I started thinking more about the speed3 and the speed6 and I decided that the speed6 has more than I would ever need (haha even the speed3 has more than I would ever need) and it's too expensive for how many miles most of them have now. I think I will eventually get a 2010 mazdaspeed 3 and enjoy driving a stick shift.

@DaveDude571 Well, theres always a possibitey on messing up on an automatic car as well. Its jsut that, every manuel car drives and shifts different. It sucked up you learned on a beat up can and get into your new mazda and go crazy on the clutch cause your used to a crappy one =P. Just have someone sit next to you and teach you to get the full details on what to do and what to do the least.

@Zantek007 its not the same category and a si doesnt run 6.6 it runs 6.9-7.1 u should compare it to a scion tc or something similar. A ms3 is more heavier and luxurious but still manages to handle better than cars twice the price

I test drove one yesterday. I'm 5"8 and I felt the roof was right on me. There would probably be plenty of leg space for you in this car, it is spacious in that reguards but you would have to drive with your head out of the sunroof.

Almost bought one of these, but I went with the regular 3s instead. Why? Because the Speed 3 only takes premium gas AND gets about 5 MPG less than the 3. Yes, yes, I KNOW you're trading that premium gale and mileage for power, but who does this really make sense for in our world of crippled economy and $3.00+ (regular) gas? I enjoyed my test drive of the Speed 3, but not enough to justify paying nearly .25 more per mile over the lifetime of the car. That's a LOT of money, Youtubers!

I've been looking at sporty cars in this price range and this can't even compare to a V6 mustang. The mustang is faster 0-60, 1/4 mile, better brakes, handles better, and gets better mileage. Not sure on warranty but the Mustang probably has that too. If you want performance for the price this isn't it. It would be better if you have people to drive around or have to drive in the snow in the winter. I'm not sure about finish quality though I might need a test drive.

@SauceCaptain Yep if u don't gotta drive in the snow, or you aren't worried about putting a car seat in the back for a kid Mustang v6 is the best deal out right now....but if u live up north where snow is an issue, front wheel drive, or AWD is a luxary. If you got the money the new 2011 subaru wrx will beat the new v6 mustang on the 1/4 mile and 0-60 no bull shit, and i aint talkin about the STI, i mean the WRX, look into it bro it might be worth the extra 4,000.

@Brims131 well obviously you wont get too far in a muscle car, or anything with loads of power, especially if you've got an iron foot. It's really about how prepared you are for the snow, if your car's got snow tires, if you know how to handle it in the weather that you're driving it etc. If you're an idiot about it you can drive a tank and end in a ditch. Tirerack.com does reviews for tires and things, their snow tire review used a 3 series RWD bmw, drove pretty well in deep snow.

The 2007 is FASTER 0n 0-60 and quarter mile. This driver is dreaming. Yes, the new speed3 may handle a bit better and stop a bit faster BUT overall, the 07 is the model to own. If only they would put that new hood on the 07 model..now that would be HOT.

the car is sick my buddy has one and it is one of the nicest cars in its class i have been in..... yes its slower then last years model but the car is not made for drage if anything its a hwy runner and can hang with the best of them... we were on the hwy one night and ran into some friends in there 350z and they couldnt touch us another buddy was in his new BMW m5 and we were hanging with him...yes he was pulling awaay a bit but nothing like us to the 350z was sick i couldnt belive it

@TheUberDeity lol even the VQ35DE 350z's are fast than the speed3 stock for stock. modded you can't compare a FI engine to a NA engine. The initial possibilities are unfair when you can get 50+h from a tune and a few bolt ons from the speed 3 whereas you can maybe get 30hp from full bolt ons and a tune of the Z. The HR and 370z blow even modded MSP3's out of the water until they start putting close to 300whp which isnt that hard to obtain you just dont see many that do.

I own a 2010 Mazda 3 s hatch. I felt the same way at first, it is ugly, but it grew on me. As for the car itself, when I test drove it I was hooked. The quality, it won Highest Resale Value award over the perennial Honda Civic, and you can feel the quality not only in the interior but also in the way it drives. Its chassis set up is fantastic, ride quality superb. And as for that front end "smile" it grows on you as well as on your face when you are driving it.

6.4sec 0-60?? That doesn't seem right. My '03 WRX is quicker off the line stock by almost a full second. Don't get me wrong, my wife owns a Mazda3 Sport and I love the damn thing....great handling, quick acceleration, quiet, comfortable, room, etc etc. But that 6.4 number bothers me. Maybe I expect more from 263HP versus 227HP? Love Mazda!!!

@spd2549 but after the AWD launch of the WRX the mazdaspeed will catch and pass it easily. You get more from the mazda than the WRX, you get better handling, better braking, better interior, more power. the only advantage of the WRX over the MAZDA is the AWD,

@deadbeat86 - That's kind of what I already said. My wife's stock 3 5-door does handle better than my WRX, the interior is nice. I love it, as I said. All I was pointing out was the 0-60 time. Whoever was driving for this review didn't do it any justice. According to Car and Driver, they were able to get times in the 5 second range, which sounds more like it's capabilities.
