lol...how do you call 93-97's good...they had an old motor that wasnt very susceptible to light modding, and made of cast iron. 98-02 they changed the bumper and hood, and gave it one of the worlds best engines ever. All GM v8's are based off of it now. There are countless LS1's with 1000+hp, even one with 1680hp. The new LSX block is based off of it which can handle up to 2500hp. There was nothing but upgrades from 98 to 97...the lt1's can't hang with the ls1's

98-02 the front end looked worse than a fat mans package. And if you want to spend $15k+ on modding a LS1 to have 1000+ hp and run off racing fuel then be my guest. But most people just throw in a better engine, get 700hp out of a 400-450 small block and run off of pump fuel. So sorry, you're shitty LS1 can't roll with the hot rods.

maybe you should check out the LSX. Cast Iron block based off the LS1 with 2 extra headbolts per cylinder. With LS7 heads and a Cam..it'll do 650HP all motor. More than any big block can do without turbo/blower/nos...unless its like a $20k motor like a 572 big block.

LSX can handle up to 2500hp, and the block is only like $2k retail.
