Rep. Charlie Dent (R-PA) challenged on taxes, oil subsidies

People who are rich lose incentive to work when they feel they have enough money and the costs of more work outweigh the profits of more work. If you increase the taxes, the level of work productivity will just go down. Similarly Charlie probably doesn't know this either, and wants to keep taxes on higher incomes low because of the voting populous in his area. Goes to show that lawyers and people yelling on their high horse and getting 15 mins of fame shouldn't be in charge of the economy.

I would bet that no one in that room knows that the "1%" as the occupiers call them pay over 1/3 of the tax bill every year, yet 50% of working Americans pay nothing. It's very easy for a lower income person like this man is to try and free ride the system by asking the rich to pay more when they all ready pay disproportionally more than the rest of the population. He clearly doesn't have a grasp of how volatile the Elasticity of the Supply of Labor is and what a higher tax rate could do.

Ugh, I've seen so many guys like the yelling guy. They read a couple of books or something and think they're a genius and know how to run things and start bossing everyone around and not letting anyone else speak. I bet no one in that room (Charlie included) has taken more than a couple of economics classes and they're all bantering about the economy like they think they know exactly to do.

In seeing a lot-seems like no one is getting the points to help others ubderstand-and I do think very highly of Congressman Dent. The thing that is a mantra and not proven-the trickle down economy. The problem comes when this is why we keep seeing taxing the rich as bad because we are going after the job makers. The one thing not being considered is GATT and NAFTA. There is no such thing as a trickle down economy because quite a bit went away in the 90's. The bush tax cuts will cost us 3Tdollar

I am a veteran and was denied my VA benefits in 2000, so I kept reapplying every 6 months until I finally got them in OCT., 2009 (Thanks Obama!)

You see Bush changed the eligibility standards for Va benefits to save money in the budget and 600,000 of us lost access to benefits. Obama said it was "Just plain wrong to do that to our vets." He changed it.

I hoped........and things finally changed!

Trickle Down Economic is a total failure. It's destroyed the US Economy.

And no matter how Republicans spin it, they fucked up. And now they are saying, lets do the same thing, that will fix it.

Rich people do not create jobs, never have created jobs, and never will create jobs. The last 30 years of "trickle down" has shown this. The last 10 years made it worse.

@Repbel1 Go look up "lagging economic indicators" and you'll find that unemployment is one of them. It takes a long, long time for unemployment to reflect policy changes.
