Honda said they won't unveil the car until it laps under 7'20 at the Nurburgring. And expect a Type R variant as well. I'm just happy that the top 3 Japanese super cars are back. Supra NSX and GT-R. They're all great.

im a toyota man myself i own 2 jza80 supras but i wouldnt compare those three cars cause they're all different gtr 4wheel drive nsx mid engined and supra front engine rear drive they're different beasts and they're all magnificent supercar with performance matching or bettering germans and italians for half price, anyway peace man keep loving toyotas they rock.

this isnt a supra. take a supra to a track they are trash, not even that good at drag vs a nsx or lingenfelter. this is LEXUS not toyota... this is actually a pretty nice track car, it would still get raped by a f430 though.

I didn't think the GTR Spec V could be beat for less than $200,000, but I was wrong. Both the LF-A and GTR Spec V CRUSH the Corvette ZR1 though and have FAR FAR better reliability on top of that. You'd have to be INSANE to buy a ZR1 when EVEN a base 69K GTR beats the Corvette ZR1 at the Ring.

horsepower isn't everything. A car with 1000 horsepower at 8000 RPM that only has 20 horsepower the rest of the powerband is nothing. The lotus exige s does 0-60 faster than a camaro SS with only 250 hp. Not to mention that getting a camaro to be able to handle anything like those cars would take extensive and expensive work. There's an extent where spending less money for similar performance is a good thing. Then there's cases where it still doesn't compare. There's a lot to be said about feel.
@CCLemone This car makes 552hp @ 8,700 RPM and it only makes 354 ft lbs of torque. Looking at those numbers alone this car is gonna be weak as hell in a straight line unless its revved to redline.

@cardshark525 The point is that this is not a pure track car that should only be driven on circuits. They should have forumulated it to be similar to the R35 GT-R or Corvettes where the HP and Torque are balanced. This would make for it to be a much more enjoyable car and accomplish Lexus' objective for the LF-A. I personally think they should have gave this car a 6.0L or greater if they wanted to keep it N/A or used forced induction if they wanted to keep a small motors.
Ok think, 6 liter engine should be V12, because of smoother work. That would be another 100,000$ more expensive and more added weight. So 4.8 liter V10 very light is better choice. I ve read somewhere that they said about 100Ibs heavier can be V12 with 6 liters, but yes, can produce much more power, probably near 650-700bhp. Power and torque isn't everything always, look ZR1, with more power and torque still losing on any race track from LF-A. Same weight.

Its powerful but it needs that extra torque to make that power useful.
I see you dont know much about real race cars, simple, lightest V12 ever made is in Formula 1 by Honda, period. Lightest commercial V12 engine is from BMW (McLaren F1). So 6.0 V12 from Toyota never can be like this, maybe but this is not Toyota s way. 4.8 V10 1LR-GUE is lighter than LS9 from ZR1.
GM claims 209mph as top speed for ZR1,LF-A stops at 205mph with less power. ZR1 have 505 RWHP what is waste of power, u really sure that you know relationship between power, torque and RPM
@2jzgtejza80 All I am saying is to make the power that the LFA has more fun and for it to be faster it would need more torque which can come from more displacement or FI. If the LFA made matching torque it would probably trap 127-130mph in the 1/4 mile compared to the 124 it does and would also do an 11 flat compared to the 11.7 it does now due to a stronger torque curve.
@2jzgtejza80 That extra torque would also make it much stronger on road courses as well due to better power delivery out of corners. I love the LF-A but I wish it was half its price and it made more torque. As for displacement to weight GM LS motors have been making light, high displacement motors for years. This is all due to making a simple design. Simple designs always win price to performance.
LF-A is still pretty heavy 1550kg comparing to 1520kg ZR1. YOU are right in some case, but power is product of torque and RPM. Lexus engineers are construct engine using Formula 1 experience. Root of power is displacement, (i was drove friends ZO6 LS7), so I know what you want to say. ZR1 and ZO6 are faster in roll-on test starting roll from 0-200mph in highest gear (Top Gear show). I also thinks that they construct bigger engine still V10 but about 5.5 liters and get higher power
Most things that people don't know about engine is that: This engine using standard system injection, not modern GDI (Mitsubishi), FSI (Volkswagen, Audi), actually a EFI like Ferrari Italia 458. Also this engine have cross-plane crank what is more similar to american cranks and sounds better than plat-plane V10 Carrera GT. Firing order is similar to LS7 series engines. It's made from billet of spec alloy (Aluminum-based, and Magnesium, Titanium)
I know man, I'm not constructor of LF-A, but when Lexus doesn't earn any money on that car, probably worth this 400k. Look at some Euro exotics, they are overpriced comparing to LF-A.

This is an awesomely crafted engine...Codeveloped by Yamaha, who is one of the greatest engine makers in the world. Toyota's partnership with Yamaha will shoot them to the top of the performance car world, as has their first offering, the IS-F, and now this.
alright so, lets recap. There's a new GT-R. Possibly a new NSX. And hopefully a new Supra (not a Lexus). All cars put out 450+ hp (or so people say). Now all we need is Mitsubishi to revive the 3000gt/GTO line and make it supercar worthy.

I'd rather pay high dollar for something with a lexus badge then toyota, toyota ft-hs toyota hybrid synergy drive(supra) would go for close to 70 grand so save 10 and buy a nissan gtr
The new supra coming out in 2008 as the '09 supra is going to be a hybrid synergy drive with 400 horsepower. I also heard that toyota may also make a supra that will have 500 horsepower. But thats just a rumor. The supra will look like the lexus supercar and have a V8 engine, instead of the I6 that toyota had used. Personally I am interested to see how the V8 will perform compared to the I6, because the I6 worked so well with all the upgrades that you could put on it.
I'm pretty sure the older supras will destroy the new one, because the older ones are so much easier to modify. The older ones had a great platform to start, and you could easily crank out over 1000hp from them, I'm not sure if you could do that with the new one that might come out, but we'll see what happens.
You're talking about the the FT-HS which no one knows for sure if its going to be the next supra. I personally believe the FT-HS looks more like a celica and the LF-A looks more like a supra. I also hope the LF-A is the next supra because it looks much better and has more power.

Well I like the Tundra, but its not Diesel so if you're looking for alot of towing power then the Ram. But the Tundra won the MotorTrend 08 Truck of the Year, and they have a decent selection of trims and customability, so they're pretty damn good. Toyota stepped it up alot this year in the pickup industry. Also, the Tundra will cost alot more. All depends on what you plan on using it for though

A stock Camaro compare to the GTR yes, but put the same twin turbos from the GTR onto the Camaro and you'll get a WAY better bang for your buck.
Half of the GTR's power comes from boost and not torque.

And it's for $225,000US, far from the 30,000$US MK4 SUpra. Its suppose to be competing against the Corvettes, Gallardos etc. SUpras are supposed to be against Mustangs and Camaros.

I didn't think the GTR Spec V could be beat for less than $200,000, but I was wrong. Both the LF-A and GTR Spec V CRUSH the Corvette ZR1 though and have FAR FAR better reliability on top of that. You'd have to be INSANE to buy a ZR1 when EVEN a base 69K GTR beats the Corvette ZR1 at the Ring.

even supercharged you'd spend close to 10-15k making it a 50k car and one that would not sound as nice as the GT-R does and not as technologically advanced.

horsepower isn't everything. A car with 1000 horsepower at 8000 RPM that only has 20 horsepower the rest of the powerband is nothing. The lotus exige s does 0-60 faster than a camaro SS with only 250 hp. Not to mention that getting a camaro to be able to handle anything like those cars would take extensive and expensive work. There's an extent where spending less money for similar performance is a good thing. Then there's cases where it still doesn't compare. There's a lot to be said about feel.

@CCLemone This car makes 552hp @ 8,700 RPM and it only makes 354 ft lbs of torque. Looking at those numbers alone this car is gonna be weak as hell in a straight line unless its revved to redline.

@cardshark525 The point is that this is not a pure track car that should only be driven on circuits. They should have forumulated it to be similar to the R35 GT-R or Corvettes where the HP and Torque are balanced. This would make for it to be a much more enjoyable car and accomplish Lexus' objective for the LF-A. I personally think they should have gave this car a 6.0L or greater if they wanted to keep it N/A or used forced induction if they wanted to keep a small motors.

Ok think, 6 liter engine should be V12, because of smoother work. That would be another 100,000$ more expensive and more added weight. So 4.8 liter V10 very light is better choice. I ve read somewhere that they said about 100Ibs heavier can be V12 with 6 liters, but yes, can produce much more power, probably near 650-700bhp. Power and torque isn't everything always, look ZR1, with more power and torque still losing on any race track from LF-A. Same weight.

The ZR1 would destroy the LF-A in straight line performance and that is a fact. The LF-A performs very close to the GT-R in straight line performance due to its lack of torque. Its powerful but it needs that extra torque to make that power useful.

I see you dont know much about real race cars, simple, lightest V12 ever made is in Formula 1 by Honda, period. Lightest commercial V12 engine is from BMW (McLaren F1). So 6.0 V12 from Toyota never can be like this, maybe but this is not Toyota s way. 4.8 V10 1LR-GUE is lighter than LS9 from ZR1.
GM claims 209mph as top speed for ZR1,LF-A stops at 205mph with less power. ZR1 have 505 RWHP what is waste of power, u really sure that you know relationship between power, torque and RPM

@2jzgtejza80 All I am saying is to make the power that the LFA has more fun and for it to be faster it would need more torque which can come from more displacement or FI. If the LFA made matching torque it would probably trap 127-130mph in the 1/4 mile compared to the 124 it does and would also do an 11 flat compared to the 11.7 it does now due to a stronger torque curve.

I love the LF-A but I wish it was half its price and it made more torque. As for displacement to weight GM LS motors have been making light, high displacement motors for years. This is all due to making a simple design. Simple designs always win price to performance.

LF-A is still pretty heavy 1550kg comparing to 1520kg ZR1. YOU are right in some case, but power is product of torque and RPM. Lexus engineers are construct engine using Formula 1 experience. Root of power is displacement, (i was drove friends ZO6 LS7), so I know what you want to say. ZR1 and ZO6 are faster in roll-on test starting roll from 0-200mph in highest gear (Top Gear show). I also thinks that they construct bigger engine still V10 but about 5.5 liters and get higher power

Most things that people don't know about engine is that: This engine using standard system injection, not modern GDI (Mitsubishi), FSI (Volkswagen, Audi), actually a EFI like Ferrari Italia 458. Also this engine have cross-plane crank what is more similar to american cranks and sounds better than plat-plane V10 Carrera GT. Firing order is similar to LS7 series engines. It's made from billet of spec alloy (Aluminum-based, and Magnesium, Titanium)

alright so, lets recap. There's a new GT-R. Possibly a new NSX. And hopefully a new Supra (not a Lexus). All cars put out 450+ hp (or so people say). Now all we need is Mitsubishi to revive the 3000gt/GTO line and make it supercar worthy.
Think about it. It would be sick, the good old battles between the GT-R/NSX/Supra/GTO. but this time around, these cars could be on the same level as Lamborghini, Ferrari, Porsche, etc.

none of you guys get it, the supra is simply a protottype concept vehicle, there is about 8 of them from toyota right now and most of them never see production, it's also not called a supra as they have nothing in common. The lexus lf-a is going into production although im not sure when but it will be a monster. I'd rather pay high dollar for something with a lexus badge then toyota, toyota ft-hs toyota hybrid synergy drive(supra) would go for close to 70 grand so save 10 and buy a nissan gtr

The new supra coming out in 2008 as the '09 supra is going to be a hybrid synergy drive with 400 horsepower. I also heard that toyota may also make a supra that will have 500 horsepower. But thats just a rumor. The supra will look like the lexus supercar and have a V8 engine, instead of the I6 that toyota had used. Personally I am interested to see how the V8 will perform compared to the I6, because the I6 worked so well with all the upgrades that you could put on it.

I'm pretty sure the older supras will destroy the new one, because the older ones are so much easier to modify. The older ones had a great platform to start, and you could easily crank out over 1000hp from them, I'm not sure if you could do that with the new one that might come out, but we'll see what happens.

Well I like the Tundra, but its not Diesel so if you're looking for alot of towing power then the Ram. But the Tundra won the MotorTrend 08 Truck of the Year, and they have a decent selection of trims and customability, so they're pretty damn good. Toyota stepped it up alot this year in the pickup industry. Also, the Tundra will cost alot more. All depends on what you plan on using it for though
