To be eleven years old and owning this single...wow...in its day this rocked harder than most music. Even more, for it to be a signature song from my first chrush... My compliments to this band, their music has aged so well..
I'd like to point out that, in the majority of TV appearances by groups of this era, they simply lip-synch'd to the studio recordings of their songs. I always enjoy finding true live TV perfromances, like this one (and like the Beatles performing Help live in Blackpool). It proves whether a band was really a working live band or not. The Hollies certainly were one of those. Top it off with great song writing (Bus Stop, Carrie Anne, On a Carousel), and you've got: Wow.
@FarnhazenBrep Live is better & the bands would have preferred to play live, but acoustics, logistics, budget, time constraints, etc. it wasn't really practical (though there were some exceptions) to bring orchestras into a studio for the variety shows, much less rehearse. The organ hadn't evolve into the synthesizer yet. Even if they were faking, the kids just wanted to their idols sing their hits. Their agents booked them, they flew in & appeared. Let's give 'em a break?
I understand all that. I've been a bass player and audio technician since forever.
I wasn't saying that bands who lip-sync'd their hits couldn't play live. I was saying that I'm glad that so many live TV performances have been preserved, so we get to see groups actually perform their songs live. It proves they really had the stuff.
By the way, be sure to check out the Beatles on Blackpool Night Out, if you haven't already.
Aside from a young Paul McCartney, Graham Nash is in a class by himself as far as be able to sing sky high without breaking. When asked, David Crosby simply shakes his head and says "How do he do it ??"
Imagine this: a rock band with THREE, count them: 3 lead singers. And each singer sings three part harmony in a fresh, fabulous style! oh yeah, and the Hollie's songs were great too!
These videos are the closest thing to a live Hollies recording from that period. They recorded live twice for album release in 1968 (only one tracks has appeared so far) and I always wished for one to be issued. They were consumate musicians and good tunesmiths too.

Graham seems in a good mood here. I guess any of us would be if we knew we were less than a couple of hundred days away from the explosion of CS&N on the scene.
Just an all around kick ass band. Man they were great. What every garage band aspires to, but rarely ever approaches. Easy to see why they were so popular.
Is Tony playing a Ric 12 string? i wish his amp was turned up. the harmonies for this concert knock me out. where did all these great clips from this concert come from?
@1jimbones This is a festival in Split, Croatia... in sixties musicians like Shadows, Cliff Richard, Procol Harum and Hollies were guests during the intermission. This archive footage was broadcasted on croatian national tv couple years ago....
@49erBW I don't think that Tony is playing a 12 string Ric. I certainly can't hear that he's playing a 12 string, especially on the single string pull-off licks. He's playing a 360/6, not a 360/12. On the 1967 video that's floating around he's playing a Les Paul and doing the same licks that sound the same. When Tony did play a 12 string, it was a Vox. I don't recall any Hollies tunes that have a Ric 12 on them, except maybe You've Got That Suspicious Look and even that doesn't sound right.
Love Graham, very much like Allan here. Nice video to revisit time and time again. The Hollies were professionals in every sense of the word, and still are.
Nash is amazing. I had no idea he had been in The Hollies (all these bands are before my time). My first memory of Graham is from the "Woodstock" film and song of the same name with Crosby, and Stills. An amazing talent-indeed all these guys are truly gifted. Love The Hollies.♥
Has anyone else noticed that a lot of youtube videos have sound that goes in and out? Still, like everyone else I love tthis song and the whole British Invasion music.

Allan Clarke is so lame. It seems like he's looked and acted like a 50 year-old for his whole life. It's no wonder Graham left to hang with the hippies in California. I mean, look at him dance!
This is one of my favorite Hollies songs. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to get too much airplay on oldies radio stations. Brings back terrific memories of the 60's.
I just found this video, one of several from a concert. What fun to watch them entertain the audience. RRHOF should create a separate wing for them for keeping them out all of these years. A great group with so many terrific songs.
its a joke that these gods arent in the hall of fame....allan leaves in 2000 ,the hollies try and find an identical replacement and couldnt as theres only one god....elvis kicks the bucket and 5,000,0000 sound alikes follow[some better]....whos the unique singer here....send your answers on a postcard.....they say elvis is the king but god is higher and allan you are the greatest pop vocalist of all time......period

The Hollies of all groups deserve to be in the RRHOF. As a mega Nash fan I think it's strange that Graham isn't two timed like David Crosby and Stephen Stills when the Hollies eclipse Buffalo Springfield completely and fly even higher than the Byrds.
This live performance is just" Superb" just proves that these guys were the best of all time !!! they Sound Great and look so Fine..they need to be in The Hall Of Fame..Now! not in 10yrs time..
