Weeks 3, 5, 7 and 9 they will beast you like fuck, watch out for Kit Musters, and if youre told to do something, DO IT, then youre off to collingwood for youre 28 week TT.

To anyone thinking of the Royal Navy go for it, seriously if anything the trainings just too fucking easy (i know you might thinking "but you were in the marines") but it really is, training regimes for the marines and other combat roles could often be fucking harrowing but the Navy praises you if you so much as bang out 20 press ups.

No, not necessarily, but a decent portion of people who join some form of military service do so because they are poor. You can't really slack off either so people either work hard, and gain a lot from their service or they get the boot pretty quick.

Did you do a seperate maths test as well as the standard entry test? I went to apply last year as an Artificer (is that what you are?) and did not think I could pass the maths test. I am seriously considering applying again so would appreciate some pointers.

mile and half in first week and week 7 , swimming test with overalls in first weeks aswell, bleep test cant member when that was, press ups and sit up bleep tests to, they are all easy to pass but ya should go all out and try be the best in ur class, get under 10mins for mile and half and get full marks on press ups and situps

Get revising for your pyschometric tests ! If you are going in as a AET you have to get high marks especially in the maths and mechanical comprehension sections. Keep an eye on the clock in the tests you get like 10 mins to do 30 questions while the questions are not particularly hard you will be pushed for time.
i was offered that one but didnt want it,you have to score high on the test so practice now,concentate on maths and mechanical reasoning,also check out psychometric-success on the web its a free site and learn the names of the tools!
also go to your local library and ask for any book on technical comprehension or reasoning.also do some revision on basic gcse maths.and just remember the basic rule with gears-if the connecting line is straight then the direction of gears is the same,if the lines are crossed then gears go in an opposite direction.
I've done some mechanical comprihension tests and did quite well, I'm gonna try find some more free ones on the net, and try some technical comprehension and reasoning later tonight. Today i went to liverpool and went aboard the Ark Royal, I got taken on the flight deck and up ontop of the ski-jump, onto the bridge and an ME showed me around the engine room, I got a full tour of the ship it was great. I met loads of AET's and now i really wanna join. Are you in the RN jen567mws?

really sorry,i've just now been able to check my mail,so sorry if i'm too late.from what i remember maths questionsanything from subtraction ,multiplication,numb.sequencies,i think circle areas and circumfurence,some algebra,i think distance mesurment,weight mesurment,division questions,fractions percentages,ratios etc.on mechanical the questions really vary its all down to common sence REMEMBER THAT bolts theway gears turn,how weight,gravity can havean affect of speed or direction onanobject
and random questions like which is the best way to put the stick in the ground to hold up a tent(deep ground lower part facing tent uper part away from tent) ,how long the rope must be to an anchored vessel(never go for the short one)which direction will an object go if its being pulled or pushed in a certain way and never forget gravity effect,and its easier to pull a heavy object when the rope has gone through lupes round eg another circle cause it takes some of the strain of the weight off
what i did was answer all the easy questions first then spent more time on the ones you need more time for,then if i couldn't answer something then just guess,if you are taking too much time on one then just leave it and do all the quick ones first!

see it wasnt that hard,thats really good for a 16 year old,you've done better than most people with degrees who dont pass!if you've done the interview and then the med.and the PJFT you wont have long until they send you off to raleigh and its better to be able to reach the RNFT time before you get there!
I start on the 16 of november, basic training is gonna suck in the winter lol. I got in as an AET, cant wait, I'm gonna miss my family alot though. Got 2 weeks paid leave for christmas though :D:D

Worth it though for when im traveling and having run ashors in cool countrys :D .

hey remember me? I'm on 2 weeks leave now, done 5 weeks at Raleigh. Loving it mostly, just kit is so annoying :(. Dartmoor was hell, and we had a kit muster 2 days after it so i was extremely tired, had to get up at 3:30am to do ironing and stuff. Passed it though, get to go to the raleigh club after the holiday, woot :D . Naval military training was a fun week, i was 2 shots off getting marksman :( . due to pass out on the 30th of jan (providing i dont get back classed between now and then :\ )
4 more weeks and you'll pass out,they'll keep you on your feet there, so the time will fly by in no time.i hated ironing,the food and was pretty much crap at everything : ).Enjoy your time on leave and M/C.

that was cool. In the American Navy your position is known as a Gunners Mate in one capacity or you could be a Fire Control tech especially with the missle systems. But myself I prefer the main gun or as we call the five inch gun. All purpose round

ha ha....i agree. i worked with the yanks lots of time at sea. they once call me up telling me that they had found a new contact on thier radar and wanted halp to find it what it was...which of course...ended up being the Royal Navy type 42 hms nottingham that was showing on thier radar. they could not work their own radar properly!!

Did you do a seperate maths test as well as the standard entry test? I went to apply last year as an Artificer (is that what you are?) and did not think I could pass the maths test. I am seriously considering applying again so would appreciate some pointers.

(the officers food is worse than tha recruits) lol x

You do realise a single attack on a surface vessal, dont matter how big or how small with todays weapons could kill every single person on that. So thats 2,000 people on a aircraft carrier or 220 on a frigate or destroyer? Trust me, theirs a real threat out their. We wasnt sitting in action stations for weeks for the fun of it.

Say to the UK MOD not to build our 8 new T45 Destroyers and leave the new Astute class submarines and abandon the 2 New aircraft carriers that will shortly be arriving. Army and the RAF just doesnt offer that, im sorry.

I was posted to iraq last august...ya see...we go where there is a threat to national security as in we go where we are needed.. so when your next sipping a pint in an exotic country just remember that there's REAL armed forces personnel risking there lives whilst you sit there doing nothing for nobody.

mile and half in first week and week 7 , swimming test with overalls in first weeks aswell, bleep test cant member when that was, press ups and sit up bleep tests to, they are all easy to pass but ya should go all out and try be the best in ur class, get under 10mins for mile and half and get full marks on press ups and situps

Get revising for your pyschometric tests ! If you are going in as a AET you have to get high marks especially in the maths and mechanical comprehension sections. Keep an eye on the clock in the tests you get like 10 mins to do 30 questions while the questions are not particularly hard you will be pushed for time.

i was offered that one but didnt want it,you have to score high on the test so practice now,concentate on maths and mechanical reasoning,also check out psychometric-success on the web its a free site and learn the names of the tools!

also go to your local library and ask for any book on technical comprehension or reasoning.also do some revision on basic gcse maths.and just remember the basic rule with gears-if the connecting line is straight then the direction of gears is the same,if the lines are crossed then gears go in an opposite direction.

I've done some mechanical comprihension tests and did quite well, I'm gonna try find some more free ones on the net, and try some technical comprehension and reasoning later tonight. Today i went to liverpool and went aboard the Ark Royal, I got taken on the flight deck and up ontop of the ski-jump, onto the bridge and an ME showed me around the engine room, I got a full tour of the ship it was great. I met loads of AET's and now i really wanna join. Are you in the RN jen567mws?

Wow,thats really good,i didnt know they let you go meet the branch you want to join and atleast you enjoyed it.When you'll have a look at the test you'll see its dead easy try to answer as quick as possible and if you've got like 5 sec. left on the clock just guess the rest of the questions.this is going to sound silly but i'd rather not say.Also take the test when you feel you're ready to phone em up and tell them if you need more time.

really sorry,i've just now been able to check my mail,so sorry if i'm too late.from what i remember maths questionsanything from subtraction ,multiplication,numb.sequencies,i think circle areas and circumfurence,some algebra,i think distance mesurment,weight mesurment,division questions,fractions percentages,ratios etc.on mechanical the questions really vary its all down to common sence REMEMBER THAT bolts theway gears turn,how weight,gravity can havean affect of speed or direction onanobject

and random questions like which is the best way to put the stick in the ground to hold up a tent(deep ground lower part facing tent uper part away from tent) ,how long the rope must be to an anchored vessel(never go for the short one)which direction will an object go if its being pulled or pushed in a certain way and never forget gravity effect,and its easier to pull a heavy object when the rope has gone through lupes round eg another circle cause it takes some of the strain of the weight off

what i did was answer all the easy questions first then spent more time on the ones you need more time for,then if i couldn't answer something then just guess,if you are taking too much time on one then just leave it and do all the quick ones first!

Worth it though for when im traveling and having run ashors in cool countrys :D .

hey remember me? I'm on 2 weeks leave now, done 5 weeks at Raleigh. Loving it mostly, just kit is so annoying :(. Dartmoor was hell, and we had a kit muster 2 days after it so i was extremely tired, had to get up at 3:30am to do ironing and stuff. Passed it though, get to go to the raleigh club after the holiday, woot :D . Naval military training was a fun week, i was 2 shots off getting marksman :( . due to pass out on the 30th of jan (providing i dont get back classed between now and then :\ )
