  • Using game, where off-the-ball movement is virtually non existent, especially when talking about moving into spaces makes this 'simulation' not very accurate and real.

  • Big teams use 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1.

Even the new Barca 4-3-3 is actually a hybrid evolved from Chelsea's 4-5-1.

  • ....especially with fast, adventurous full-backs getting forward and supporting the wingers. Furthermore, the best European club teams often play 451 rather than 433 in big games, i.e. with a denser midfield constraining the space for the opposing team whilst attempting to impose control of possession

  • Interesting approach, but too contingent on the specific teams, and the nature of the game itself. I wonder if the 'simulation' had been run a large number of times, over more teams... but even then, conclusions are better reached from 'real world' football. To take one example from the video, width is always good (especially when combined with quick passing, making the most of space) but unlike the simulation here suggests, this is not necessarily sacrificed in 442 relative to 433...

  • nice compare

  • really nice 5/5
