  • you guys are just stunnin the heck out of me!!!!! Brian Wilson really needs to meet and hear you guys if he hasnt already.I think he would dig you and actually want to play with you guys for real...you do the Beach Boys justice...and you get Brian's genius!!!

  • Where can we see these guys?

  • You guys must get together and tour the US to get some more recongnition here . The agents wil be calling if you do . Just think of being in cities like Atlanta , NYC , Philadelphia , Seattle , San Francisco , and LA !

  • @darling67 Must... have... blonde... pussy!!!

  • Astounding work, brian would be proud.

  • It never ceases to amaze me that after playing possibly the most famous opening chords in the history of pop music, some in the crowd don't recognize the tune until after the vocal starts.

C'mon, man! Kneel down and pray at the altar of Wilson.

  • Such a great group!!! What an uninspired name!!!

  • I love the hand thing at 2:12!

  • just incredible,so talented, where are you now, were is the cd and dvd ...GB UK

  • Wow!

  • The FENDERTONES GET IT!!!

  • Hey, that guy playing vibes....Could that be? Nah. But still.......

  • Well...this is quite impressive! These guys sing really, really good. It's a perfect Beach Boys song. Well done guys!!

  • Nobody touches these guys. Even Wilson's own present band would have a tough time following these kids. Can't believe they don't get a tour booked....although the expense would be staggering with this many bandmembers.

  • Nobody touches these guys. Even Wilson's own present band would have a tough time following these kids.

  • This band is simply AMAZING!! The sound and rhythm is spot on! Reade McCardell the best of luck with your solo career! You know how much I admire you! The Best.....Dot

  • PleaseLarry do tell how you know Kenny . He has a great voice and ahat is he doing now?

     Larry

  • Please put out a DVD.

  • Freaking unbelievable! They're great!!!

  • So how do you know Kenny ? He is a great talent. The Fendertones from the 60's and 70's are obviously not the same band.. Larry waiting with baited breath

  • These guys are the best Beach Boy cover band - period. Excellent harmony and true to the original recorded version.

  • Stunningly good!!!

  • I hope the singer never cuts his sideburns!

  • BBOYS 50th anniversary year 2011.

Clearly gathering all of these gents again to reprise these wonderful concert efforts would be a priority.

the summer of 2011 needs to be an 'endless one'

FENDERTONES do it for the fans and hopefully a great stipend too....

I'd pay to see you come through town....

    jctoronto

  • Do these guys still perform ? been a Beachboys fan for over 40 something years --- these guys hit the sound and music perfectly --- better than the Mike Love touring band now ---

  • A lot of the original band members are in the New Church Live band:

    newchurchlive.tv

    Click on "Watch / Music"

  • I can't begin to imagine the hard work that these lads have put into this.. Possibly the best live cover of any song on this site. Brilliant!

  • at times the lead singer looks like Zack Morris from Saved By The Bell

  • Unbelievable sound given that it's live! Great cover. Who are these guys?

  • Easily the best Beach Boys appreciation band out there!!!! The detail in their arrangements are uncanny. Brian must know about these guys by now. I'm certain he is blown away! Too bad he couldn't hire these guys as his back-up band!! As much as I appreciate the Wondermints these guys are better. Love them!!!

  • impressive co-ordination -badly needs remixing for distortion

  • Simply awesome--you young men are really, REALLY on to something very special . I hope you appreciateit, although I really don't know if you can --as I do, 64 y/o & a lifetime fan of this magnificent music. Beautiful. Wolfsky9

  • wow. Great job!

  • this is cool... but the whole glee stuff is getting old and annoying. didnt need all these dudes to sing this original song/...but its cool until i seen ll the other guys....keep it real and not to many heads on a song. especally a beach boys cover like this...

  • @gpanchdizzle Personally, I don't make any glee connection here. This is just a great live version of a Brian Wilson classic, as Brian produced it. He had the BBs overlay most of their vocals in the studio, and had many of the instruments overlaid or recorded in the old L.A. analog echo chambers, so hats off to The Fendertones for capturing that sound before a live audience. Having been to more BB concerts than I could ever recall, this is just outstanding in every detail.

  • 12 guys on vocals and a band that might rivals Brian's touring crew? Outrageously good!!!

  • I love the guy with the blonde hair. So cute!!!!!!!!

  • i've spent allot of time between last night and this morning checking out these videos...these guys are amazing. absolutely amazing! i would go to see them anywhere!

  • Not bad, but takes 20 to perform what 5 perfected, goes to show how perfect the original is.

  • @Toddy71 I'm curious. Which of the Beach Boys do you think were playing the saxophones? Trumpet? Vibes?

  • @Toddy71 Hal Blaine - drums Frank Capp - vibraphone Roy Caton - trumpet Al de Lory - organ Steve Douglas - tenor saxophone Carol Kaye - bass guitar Jay Migliori - baritone saxophone Jack Nimitz - bass saxophone Lyle Ritz - upright bass Howard Roberts - guitar Leon Russell - piano Billy Strange - tambourine (guitar?) Jerry Cole - 12-string guitar Carl Wilson - 12-string guitar
  • @Toddy71 Brian Wilson - vocals (double tracked)

Carl Wilson - vocals (double tracked)

Dennis Wilson - vocals (double tracked)

Al Jardine - vocals (double tracked)

Bruce Johnston - vocals (double tracked)

Mike Love - lead vocals (TRIPLE tracked)

  • Man, that is truly amazing!

  • Having viewed BW at the Roxy, I like this better. More voices sounds better and this sounds more like the record. BW at the Roxy sounds a little sterile to me. Very good, but sterile.

  • Lead vocals pretty weak....backing vocals nowhere near Brian Wilson's band....compare this to the video of BW's band at the Roxy, you'll see what I mean...

  • Amazing....the Boys themselves never sounded better than this.

  • Great version but the guy on falsetto is the weak link and he seems to love himself!

  • Words can't describe how good these guys are....!!

  • Edwin - where in PA can you and the guys be seen? Can you post any concert dates or answer inquiries regarding this - privately if not on youtube?

  • really really good. made me smile BIG!

  • Thanks, excellent tribute!

  • They can harmonize as well as the do, but, without the band equivalent of The Wrecking Crew, this performance would not get it.

    Bravo! to the musicians.

  • I've watched this 3 -4 times - these guys blow me away. And what a spirited tribute to BW and The BB's. It's like Mozart hits the beach. (and he probably would have had he lived a little longer - like three hundred years)

  • I agree with the other posters here...you guys should be touring as a Beach Boys Tribute. I'd pay to see a performance this good!

  • very nicely done guys!!!!

  • Hmm. Here in Las Vegas, we have all sorts of tribute shows and bands. Beatles. Four Seasons.

Yet no Beach Boys. You guys could be it. If someone contacts you, it's not a joke. If this is as good as I think it is, you could be in a showroom here.

  • You guys a freakin great! Are you from Ca? I'd totally dig info on shows. Yeah I love Calif Girls!!

  • WHO ARE THEY? Reincarnation of the Beach Boys in the 60s?? AWESOME!

  • Do this band tour. Beats the Wondermints.

  • No chance...Instrumentaly nowhere near.

  • Absolutely Awesome!!!! Gave me chills.

  • Actually, Mike did NOT write this; BW did it when he quit touring, & the guys were gone. Yes, after doing Acid, he wrote it; Mike had nothing at all to do with it. Note: this song was Bruce Johnston's 1st vocal as a BB; he's heard clearly on the chorus. Wolfsky9

  • Brian and Mike wrote this in 30 minutes

  • Acutally, Brian wrote this composition himself. Mike sued Brian in the 1990s and later received writing credits for California Girls as well for several tunes on the Pet Sounds album.

  • On the Smile DVD Brian said he came down from his room after taking LSD and started the first piano chords, then Mike added the next chords and they finshed it in 30 minutes

  • That is interesting. I will take out my Smile DVD and re-read it. Don't know how I over looked it. Thanks for the clarification. Love & Mercy.

  • very fuc**ng good :)

as a big big beach boys fan over the years i have digested their harmonies and these guys get it so very close!!

  • very nice. Mucho enjoyo! Gracias.

  • real close

  • I have to say they sound dam good . rivals the beachboys

  • not even close

  • 10 guys to do the job of 5. Says a lot. They are very good though.

  • Don't forget : The Beach Boys always doubled their vocals (stereo pairs) and did overlapping parts on additional tracks. They used up to 14 tracks of vocals in any given song, kind of like a Beach Boys choir (5 x 14 = 70 voices) at various times in the song!

So my big respect for this Version, very cool.

  • You guys are FANTASTIC. Excellent job.

  • wow amazing...

  • Just wish I could hear the bass voice in the chorus better...but shit, Mike Love never sang it right live. These guys should be touring. I'm sure Brian would NOT like this kind of competition!!

  • BUENISIMOS

    DELIRANTE!

  • To edwinherder : well then , being from Pa. , the Fendertones can get to New England that much quicker.... : )

  • Brian Wilson's attention to detail is repeated here with these guys from Texas. Don't suppose they will ever come east to New England, ie New Hampshire or the Boston area. Larry

  • This band is from Pennsylvania, not Texas.

  • @goodvbns You do know the Fendertones were a band in the 60's and 70's right? AND they were a garadge band that only made 2 records. Ask me how I know, and ask me how I know "Kenny Hart", the singer from the band.

  • You guys are amazing!

  • Go ahead Reade, ( in 2nd trio from right wearing Brown and Tan Horizontal Striped Shirt) You are FANTASTIC! Not only that, you are a real GEM of a Human Being on this Earth!!!!! A real sweetie if I say so myself!!!!!! Keep up with your other TREMENDOUS Band!

  • this is mindblowing, awesome job

  • You've reproduced the amazing sound of the Beach Boys to perfection!!!

    Fantastic band!

    Congrats and thanks for posting!!!

  • It is encouraging to see (hear!) how the Fendertones respect the music of Brian Wilson and the Beach Boys. Give me hope that long after the original group has passed from the scene, fans will be able to enjoy their music live in tribute that honors the sound as well as the songs.

hey, Fendertones, are you guys still together? Working on more BB tunes?

    {Click BB45s for rare Beach Boys video archive playlist}

  • and a danelectro too

  • Hold it, aint that a rickenbacker (why fendertones)

  • The lead vocal is a million times better than Mike Love could EVER pull off. I am sure Brian is proud of this...

  • GOD BLESS YOU .

Finally.... young peope on the right track.

  • If they are Fendertones, why is he playing a Rickenbacker?

  • I don't know, good observation! LOL Where's Al Jardine when you need him, on the Fender!!

  • brought on the tears - you can't ask for more, many thanks

  • Good job mr. Vadoor

  • My god this sounds great!!! What a sound!!!

    Fantastic job!

  • Fantastic!!!

  • These guys are absolutely fantastic! If you ever come to Australia, I'll be there!!!!!

  • Great ! Someone should send a DVD of this to Brian Wilson

  • What a great idea

  • Go Ahead The Fendertones....You are all great and a HUGE SHOUT OUT to Reade McCardell....You sweet person You!!!!!

  • I am already thinking.... how cool it would be to be a Fendertone

  • Great!! Did someone noticed that the singer looks a little like Dennis when he was a teenager??

  • this is really sweet.

  • you guys make me smile

  • Cool stuff man.

  • This is the 1st time I'm hearing these guys. As a life time fan of the BB's, these guys are great! keep up the good work guys, you rock! Wolfsky9

  • Just superb. They should do a show for Brian Wilson's birthday or something. I bet he would love it. This was perfomed 4 years ago. Are the Fendertones still at it?

  • really brilliant. They should be the official beach boys cover band!

  • Pretty good and got all the music off-pat, but singers need to watch their pitch at times. Really enjoyable.

  • Eh, the Beach Boys never completely nail it on stage either.

  • Majorly wonderful!

  • Beautiful!!!!

    Congratulations, guys!

  • i love this :D

  • Magnifico !

  • Thumbs up.

  • I saw the Beach Boys live back when they were all alive. They never came close to sounding this good live.

    Well done.

  • yeah,,early 60s beachboys,,,do these dudes tour? b an wicked show live man

  • They are absolutely great! Even the brass section is perfect!

  • Jesus, 12 guys needed to sound like the

original Beach Boys!! Long Live The Original

Brian, Mike, Carl, Al & Dennis!

  • They needed 12 guys to sound like the BBs because Brian overdubbed all of the vocals on their songs for a fuller sound. The Fendertones use multiple guys for each part to duplicate that vocal overdubbing on the soundtracks.

  • atletico45

no-one is comparing them both but you have to agree they sound awsome?like you said long live Brian Al Mike unfortunately Carl & Dennis are no longer with us r.i.p

  • Just very impressed, well done guys.

  • yea anders, chad, XJ, dylan and everyone i remember this its amazing... its now one of my favs... thanks back to the beach boys ha

  • I can't stop playing this song, very well done fendertones i must've played this now arond 20+ times (in one night) absolute awsome thank you.

  • This young guys do an amazing show. The original BBs can go into a nursing home and these young guys can continue doing their songs. They are simply very good! Great voices, great musicians! They will maintain alive the great musical treasure of Brian Wilson and the BBs.

  • Awesome! The only thing they couldn't duplicate is Carl Wilson's sweet voice on the high parts. They hit the notes, but Carl's voice is incomparable!

  • Makes me "Smilely Smile."

  • Wow, are you ever going to do this again? It was great and even people who have never herd of Bryn Athyn love it.

  • This is fucking incredible. Honestly thought I was dreaming for a second.

  • I'm a Beach Boys fanatic, and these guys nail it!!

  • ~20 man band = beach boys?

  • Oh wow.. dare I say they could rival the Beach Boys and the Brian Wilson Band? The only thing that the BW Band has they dont is Brian Wilson himself! LoL...

I wonder if these guys do parties...hmm.

  • Nice job Jimmy V.

  • Nice tribute. Deserve credit for giving it a good shot! Very nice.

  • The Fendertones are superb. By using numbers instead of Brian Wilson's genius studio techniques they can re-create the Beach Buys songs just brilliantly. Tribute bands are sometimes a bit naff but anybody that can re-create the BBs on a stage deserve an award.

  • Normally people are not usually interested in hearing exact covers of other artists music, however, not the case with the brilliance of The Beach Boys. The biggest compliment to Brian Wilson IS an authentic reproduction of his creations.

Why wasn't this band at The Kennedy Center Honors? Amazing!

  • Love it!!!!

  • This is too good, if I didn't know any better, I woulda assumed this was fake. The lead singer has Mike's intonation perfect, even how he pauses for a beat in the beginning. I wish I could download this

  • You can download this. Download the latest real player and it allows you to DL vids.

  • I like this singers voice far more than Mike Love's.

  • The Pendletones would be proud!

  • i wonder why somebody hasn't signed them to a big record contract to a big company??? they are missing a great talent !!!!i'd buy there recordings!!!!!

  • Wow ! These guys sound good !! Thanks for the post.

  • I have listened to Brian Wilson's music with the Beach Boys every day since July of 1963. Seriously - every day. The Fendertones 'Get It'. I too hope there's more to come. You're all terriffic. Keep up the great work.

  • Hi Cam! Me too!..I bought everything they did!..and still listen everyday..and in 1995, my dream of ever meeting the Beach Boys came true..TWICE!! this is how nice of a guy Carl Wilson was..I met him with his Mom..he talked with me one on one, took photos and invited me on their jet at our local airport when they flew in for a concert in Connecticut. I just happen to be there that day! I'm a pilot.

  • Hearing these young men re-create the magic that is the music of Brian Wilson certifies the "genius". It makes you appreciate that the incredible vocals were comprise of Brian, Carl, Dennis, Mike, Al and Bruce. At last count, it takes between 12 to 15 voices to reproduce those angelic harmonies. Fendertones, you rock! Love and Mercy.

  • WOW!!!! Holy Cow! Just listen to those background vocals...layered just right...

I wish they all could be California Girls...yea...I Dig The Girls...WOW!!..close your eyes..put on a set of headphones....listen...pretty darn good! Brian would be proud!...:-)

  • Very nice! :D

  • Just perfect, any more ???

  • Just unreal... Any more available??

  • What more can be said about you guys. Your sound is fantastic. Another superb performance. You will be very welcome here in the UK.

  • Love it!

  • The guy on the right at 2:13 looks like a young Jan Berry from the early 60's!

  • What makes it great is that the the guys doing the vocals (enough of you), can concentrate on that and the band does their thing. I hope there is more to come, down the road. thanx again

  • I literally have the chills...

  • Cool beans.

  • Awesome!

  • Thanks for posting! You guys are great! Carry on the legacy of the Beach Boys!

  • Another great job - possibly the best yet. Brian would be very impressed, I'm sure.

  • any hope for another "back to the beach boys"?

  • The Fendertones do another great job on a Beach Boy classic - thanks.
