Lovely low noise level you've got there. I wouldn't have heard him due to a sometimes S9 buzz every 68kHz from what I can only imagine is a switched mode power supply next door.
It's definitely not anything from my own QTH as I've shut the power off at the main breaker and connected my TS-570 to a battery. Same thing.
Nice videos and I really like your neat desk unit. Thinking of putting something similar together myself.
Hi Josh, thanks for the nice comments, yes the radio is very good, so is my antenna!! My 950 has modified filters which really do make a difference. I built my desk unit myself also highly modified!! cheers, James G0SEC
Hi again Josh, yea a pain sometimes switch mode supplies, have yout tried rfi filters on all the mains leads and whatr antenna do u use, if your using a beam then its not so bad but if its a wire antenna try using a balun too, the noice blanker on my 950sdx is the best ever in my opinion, knocks most noises dead. Hi James, I use a Sandpiper V9 vertical on my back lawn, grounded with an earth rod and has a 1/4 wave radial for each band. The noise is just as strong on my battery SW radio. I've been considering getting a Timewave ANC-4 or the similar MFJ unit so I can phase the noise out. I've tried the blanker on my Kenwood and on my Icom but I can't detect any difference unfortunately.
My other options are ask if my neighbour minds unplugging stuff to discover what's doing it or for me to move house!
