I think it's a Line 6 Variax(e?) guitar. It has a selector to set what tone it gives through the pickup, I know that much. For instance, he can set it to 12-string mode and it'll sound like a twelve string :) Hope that helps. I believe he says the name of it in his JTR vid.

I actually think it would be awesome if artists actually did little instructional shorts like this for their own songs and posted them out here. It would give people a lot of insight into their style, and you'd also get to learn how complex some of their stuff really is.

Thanks for all the great videos man you are such a good guitar player! I saw Dave and the band in Atlanta last summer at piedmont 6th row AMAZING. I think I saw him throw in a new cord in the Chorus. dmbtabs are the most accurate tabs for dave matthews tablature. i have been using them since i started learning dave matthews music and they have always been the best i have ever seen. another way to find out how to play dave accurately is watching him live
