@donalwatzon Awesome! I guess you record your videos with the iPod. I use the ipad but use the back camera because it's 16:9 widescreen...but tough to frame since you can't see yourself.
Whenever I have an idea for a video I write it in a notepad extension for Google chrome. I rarely script everything I say, like I know some do, but rather use bullet point (if need be) which I'll just put up in a notepad document next to my camera utility program on my computer so I can see myself and a reminder of what I need to say
I start with setting up my tripod then I work on lighting then I put a "neat sheet" over my bed then I grab all the products I need to make a review then I postion the focas just on what I am reviewing and also make sure my hands wont be in the way
I do daily videos and the hardest part is coming up with something to talk about. Fortunately for me, I can talk about anything for a while, so it's just the topic. Usually it's something I see or read online that gets me thinking, other times I'm trying desperately to think of something in the shower. It's hit or miss. I never script because I don't feel right doing that (well, I've scripted once or twice because of particular things). I'm an off-the-top-of-my-head talker and it works for me.
Occasionally I just turn on the camera and something happens. I am a writer first and foremost, so I script nearly every episode. This this the only reason I've considered getting a tablet - everything else I can do with my lappy. I have a stack of old, empty, hardbound lab journals that my father had collected over the years. For the past two years I have been filling those up with notes and video scripts. I am never far away from my notebook. Old school but I love it.
The shower. Seriously, I don't know why, but if I think of a topic for a video, going in the shower is the best way to turn that idea into a flowing monologue.
If the shower's broken not only do I stink, but unfortunately so do my ideas.
I have a file in my audio editing software called "song ideas". I try to record every idea I have and put it into the file. Sometimes it is just a melody or some chords and I don´t touch them for over a year, or never again.
And I have a simple txt-file on my desktop named "songs to cover". I use it to only put the names of songs I hear in it and think I could make a cover of it. But again, it does not mean I will ever do the cover. It is just a file to look at when I don´t know what to do.
If I have an idea I write it down, as soon as I can. In a bank the other day I picked up a leaflet and used their pens to write down an idea. Then, if I think it'll grow, I'll make a text file on my desktop. I'll note down ideas as they come. Then, when the time comes and I think "I'm actually going to make this," I'll make a folder for the project, put the file in there, and any other files needed: ie scripts, animation software projects, images from the internet, video clips, sound clips. :)
Good morning Bill, and I got the coffee too. I use Notes on the iPod Touch and it's GREAT! Sometimes I have more notes then when I was using the StickyNotes. You could use Evernotes app too Bill to outline a YouTube. With it you can pull in & remember a particular news article you might have read and use it as a reference for the YouTube your producing. The Notes app thought is fantastic!. Simple but very useful in outlining thoughts for a project. You have a good one today!
I have a wordpad document I jot down topics i'd like to discuss, but ad-lib everything. I do script out those little "cutaways" though (tho they only last a few seconds each) But that's just the style I need to keep from being depressing and coming off as cynical
Now all I need is the time to film.
Oh, btw, my system hard drive on my main pc finally crashed after 15 years (yep to save $200 I had a brand new fast pc built but inserted an old hard drive) - good thing I save on a 2nds hard drive

I used to do that. But so many people have acces to my iThings now, i'd rather write stuff down on paper.

@MsGoodthing1 Good point. When the battery dies I'm sunk. I miss not being able to write legibly anymore. lol

@TheSchwartzcaster That's awesome how you use your writing skills to make videos. Without those we have finger shadows. :)

Love the Notes. A tour of Macon's musical history by a DJ Legend perhaps?

@TheWoodcreekFaction I thought in the spring I might be able to show Macon a bit.
