@NKNK1 This is actually FS2004 (FS9). My advice - install REX (Real Environment Xtreme) and good scenery packages. I recommend FlyTampa and Aerosoft - both outstanding developers. Thanks for watching!

@ProGameVideosN1 actually I left off the aviation sims with CFS2. CFS3 was shit in my opinion. Too repetitive. I was thinking about gettin the latest FS but I dunno if it would be entertaining enough for me. Plus, the size is a factor because my HD is basicly full. I have two 8600GTS working in SLI. WOuld that be enough to drive this game?

Hmm.. I'm not such a hardware freak :S

But I do know this simulator requires a good CPU rather than a good graphics card.

Maybe you can scan you pc for free, just google "Can you run it" and select Microsoft Flight Simulator X from the drop down menu.

If I where you I would wait with buying this sim, there are speculations about a new sim from Microsoft (Microsoft Flight) that is coming. And it is recommended to have at leats a joystick and later on, when you seriously fly, you can buy other hardware like rudder pedals.

When you get close to an airport that you will land at, how far away should you be before you start descending?

@tyler2010us - If you use an FMC, your top of descent point will be calculated for you. If you don't use an FMC, work out how many thousands of feet you need to descend. Then multiply each thousand by 3, and the result is the number of nautical miles it will take to do it. For instance, if you need to drop 30000ft, multiply 30 by 3 to get 90 nautical miles distance. Rough estimate of course as winds would affect your speed, but might be useful for guidance!
