Superb my friend, the music in that film is what makes it my favourite ever movie and i would've thought it was sacrilege to remix it but you have done an awesome job!!
Still enjoying the look on peoples faces when I play this in my taxi.priceless!!. Now. How about re doing the theme from The Persuaders??. (don't think john Barry will mind now he's gone upstairs ).
I also love the film, love the music, loved the era.
long story, but I was asked to be in part of the film, when shooting the banger racing bit at Haringay Stadium in 1979, as i was runner up world final winner that year.
was the last year banger racing took part at haringay.
I think many many uk people over a certain age would know and love the tune, but few would know from where it originated.Capital radio in London used it for traffic 20+ yrs ago I think. Terrific job, makes me want to dig out the old synth and learn again.thankyou thankyou thankyou
@groomercab I used to listen to Capital Radio in the early to mid 1980s but cannot remember it at all - perhaps it was later. Then again, I was not interested in traffic information then.
@dnch Hi and thanks , I used ableton live 7 to extract the sax solo, just bringing the original track in as audio, found the time signature and cropped certain parts then used EQ for the rest...took quite awhile!
Absolutely top class; this really is an incredibly impressive version of a fabulous old film theme. I've never really understood why this theme isn't better known, or why it's so damn hard to get hold of! Thanks so much for all your hard work on this.
I've never seen the original movie, or heard the original music before, but I was very impressed by your version, your sound is just so professional now! You seem to have changed your methods a bit, using computer software such as Ableton Live. I've heard its a very good program.
No more words than WOW. Beautiful arrangement Mick. Knew it was gonna be special but......*****. Just dug out from the east coast blizzard. No internet at home. Nice treat to welcome me back to work.
That was a fantastic production in every detail. The only thing that could make it better, is having that fine piece of sound and motion (as well as all your other stuff) carefully burned to a CD, that would spin in my car while I make the car spin on a beautiful, saturday morning. I think I will paypal you in advance just to make sure you make a CD before the summer.
Mike, outstanding work. Of the two movies from the early 1980s that has some of the best synth tracks, one being Vangelis and 'Bladerunner'. The other being 'The Long Good Friday'. You have recaptured that astmosphere with your works.
cheers, Im ashamed to admit I spent nearly 2 weeks on this, the first week trying to replace the sax bit which I then decided to leave in:) the second week tweaking and redoing sequences over and over. That opening sequence is hard to nail right, the notes are easy but the swing/flow of it is tricky.
That seens normal to me. Afterall your task was far from easy. I happen to own a Andromeda and I was thinking to remake a song , maybe Vangelis "spiral" or something similar.
I wont have to tell you that your excellent production motivated me to do so.
Thats Real Fantastic

Hey!- Good work! I am not familiar with the original, but this is well done!
I was wondering what compressor you use. The ducking is done so nicely. Lots of crisp lead and drums.
Thanks
