  • @jamesrayment Put at it this way, when Hudson first played live with 'em, he didn't sound right. He clearly justified his role with FNM with this reunion.

For those wondering why the solo sounding different, Hudson clearly played off the original Commodores solo, as to not overstep on Big Jim's take.

  • @soundgardener75 Just for anybody interested, and quite lazy, here's the link to the original. It has quite a few elements you wouldn't imagine weren't put there by FNM originally. /watch?v=7XcTyEKSnYg&feature=related

  • mp3iiffy works again wooohoooo awesome - google mp3iiffy

  • i'm feelin it. great tune

  • it was very magical to be there

  • He pulls this song off well compared to the rest of the concert, but it's definitely one of the best songs for showcasing his range and control, it's a concert favorite, and he obviously gives it a lot of practice. He pulled this one off more or less to perfection. I just don't think I'll ever get used to the way he wildly goes all over the register and doesn't stick too well to key when live with FNM and Mr.B. He's obviously better with relaxed fans, I'm just uptight about that stuff. Anyways.

  • I would have trouble pointing out Patton going "all over the register" when it comes to Faith No More and Mr. Bungle performances. Maybe some Fantomas ones, especially so at the falsetto bits. And as far as this one being "perfect", I'd have to say that the one on the Jay Leno show back in day was far better.

  • Lmfao what is he doing in the curtain? :') Damn i love Mike.

  • should've seen them on SNL years ago. the big fan in the back ground, he was straddled to it singing Epic going around in circles LOL

  • FNM should make a live cd of the 2009 reunion tour!!

  • We had a great time yesterday evening here in São Paulo with Faith No More's gigs. But I think Download Festival had a better setlist.

  • 2:06 wtf is he doing

  • spitting at the camera, think he missed and got the camerman instead tho, nice shot

  • lol

  • amazing voice!!!

  • I LOVE YOU Mike.

  • its funny how ppl have to make comments how they h8 other genres like nu-metal, i for one like all types of metal that has a good melody to it and sounds good. And if that has to include bands like FNM, Korn, LB, Dream Thearter or whatever, ill listin to it without bitchin about it.

BTW, FNM were nice @ download!

  • the solo was so-so... :/

  • Jon Hudson hit a few sour notes in the middle there.

  • yeah :)

  • Liked how he covered up the little slips in the solo.

  • actually he didn't , those are the notes in the commodores version.

  • I'll take your word for it. I don't listen to the Commodores if I can help it. Thanks for clearing things up. At least Jim Martin played it "right".

  • amazing. epic! :)

  • 2:10 Miguel Bosé!

  • Patton hates so called Nu Metal like Limp Bizket. Once asked the question "you are responsible for bands like Limp Bizket" Mike replied "we're not responsible! their mothers are!" Classic Patton.

Make no mistake, FNM has nothing to do with shitty, terrible Nu Metal bands.

  • i like this. awesome concert on Hungary, Sziget festival, august 16. concert of the year, just simple. thank you ang long live faith no more

  • You are dead, you can't feel a thing...

  • ??What??

  • Beat that ? I think not. Thank the Commodores.

  • how can they sound so fresh and modern playing songs that date more than 10-15 years back!

  • Actually, "Easy" is originally a hit single by Commodores, recorded in the lates '70s..But FNM version, es equally awsome

  • 1 of the greatest moments of my life seeing FNM back again after 11 years......fucking amaizing!

  • the 2 bands that came on before FNM owe thier careers to these guys , without FNM we would not have had korn , limpz biscutz etc ... i have waited and hoped to see them live again and i was not disappointed , better then ever ...

  • yeo totaly agree FNM are 1 of the most iconic bands of all time in my books, modern music as a whole not just rock would be completely different and in my opinion it would be much worse off, this was just an unbelievable day that ill never forget, limp bizket and FNM in the same day....i was in heaven!

  • it's awesome. The prettiest and the best performance of this song.

  • it's beautiful  ;_;

  • orgasmic, to see this guys live again? that's fuckin' crazy, thanks for everything...

  • Their gig in Dublin is already sold out. Looks like I'll have to find a tout.

  • id give my left arm.....and some !

  • why fnm doesn't play "midnight cowboy" it can be suitable with "easy" ?

  • i was in the crowd for this, and when he mentioned social security checks, everyone around me was like "what the hells that?"

    good times :D

  • every member equally awesome....the fact that they are back together deserves a standing ovation, period. Im jealous of everyone who got to see them at the download fest

  • you gotta act like you know!!!! lovelove love mike!!! i love this sooooo muchhhhh and i was singing along to it right at front!! love love love

  • Jon Hudson is Hot Damn COOOOL !

  • hudson is no Jim Martin....

  • 0:39 reminds me to a david lynch movie, red curtains, red dress but in this particular ocassion is Patton but no the midget. Sorry by my English!

  • patton's a big movie fan, it's a tribute :)

  • Oh yeah! FNM and Mike Patton fans! This guy is awesome, the most versatile singer on the history of rock n roll, maybe, Tom Waits is close...

FNM, Tomahawk,Fantômas and the 10.000 other Mike's projects, everything's great!

But...what about Billy Gould?? He is a incredible bass player! One of the bests from RNR! Or Funk Rock or whatever! Not mentioning the fact that the main idea and the attitude to put FNM back was his idea!

    So, thank you Mr. Gould!!

  • @leoppsouza gee man you're ptrety righ on that one, he's a really creative player and composer!

  • @leoppsouza I'm glad to see fans finally recognize just how talented EVERYONE in this band is. Big thumbs up to leoppsouza for giving Billy Gould his due.

  • @leoppsouza How the F**K can you forget!!!! his first and most progressive band... MR BUNGLE?

  • I agree, withoud him they couldt play, so why should you say he`s bad?!?

  • Tesla and Lady Gaga (+ Nickelback). A testament to both the old and new time shit-storm. Viva la Faith No More!

  • i think the crowd sucked because they cant sing the chorus loud as mike

  • That's so bogus the critiques are just as entertaining whether they are good or bad. The fact that anybody would come to this video and watch it just to give it a bad comment is even more humorous. As far as I'm concerned more people that don't like this band should watch this stuff. The fact that you called out Lady Gaga is pretty funny since Patton's recent influence by her has got that video over 100,000 hits.

  • fair enough people dont like fatih no more, but if u dont like them dont comment, and leave you opinion 2 urself. my personal veiw FNM Rock. Mike Patton is a GOD.

  • Well said Mandy.

Maybe all of us who like FNM could go and watch videos of Lada GaGaaaaaarh and her ilk and tell all those people we hate her..? I could just do with wasting a few more hours of my life!

  • lulz

  • lame?!? It's fucking FAITH NO MORE! Mike Patton has the most versetile voice in rock.

  • Tesla? *giggles*

  • Tesla? hahahahaha. you knob jockey.

  • Wow...

    Its fucking great!

  • better front man, patton or anthony kiedis

  • Mike Patton...................

  • Yeah, Patton can actually sing :^P

  • are you high?

  • your talking about two different singers.1,patton can sing 2.kiedis sucks!

  • it's gotta be said: john hudson is a pretty mediocre guitar player

  • He´s million times better than you or Martin.A Fact.Don´t be hurt.

  • Yeah, he definitely plays a couple notes out of tune in that guitar solo.

  • No he doesn't.

    (it's called interpretation)

  • How is that an interpretation? He clearly plays that solo with the same number of notes and the same phrasing on the album version, just in the wrong key.

  • pyroseed, Jon's playing the guitar solo as it was in the original Commodore's version. It was actually Jim Martin who chose to change the notes for the album version and older live performances.

(I know what you mean though, the Jim Martin version was a little better).

And I can't agree that Jon's mediocre, he really steps up to the plate. Nothing against Dean Menta but he couldn't pull off quite a few of the more complex FNM tracks nearly as well as Jon.

  • Gotta be the best gig i've ever been to. Patton is God.

  • Saw them at Brixton, same set, totally awsome

  • some whore who writes for an english newspaper said about that faith no more's cover of "easy" was "ill-advised" and said everyone was left bored and unimpressed with it. she also thought it was a new cover song along with "poker face"...

    some whores, eh.

  • r they playing reading, i wanna go see them there 2 :'(

this was amazing. best gig EVER, i was blown away!!!

  • They should be on the mainstage!

  • cannot wait for this at reading festival

  • Why are they not on mainstage, kick kings of leon off and put them up imo!

  • Some A-Hole booker missed the EMail saying they wanted to play. Noticed it AFTER booking KoL. Guess he got a P45 the next morning. ;)

  • FNM are playing Leeds/Reading?! i didnt even know that, now i've got something to look forward to instead of laughing at the vain indie kids

  • Yes! I only caught the set from this song onwards because I was dragged to Motley Crue (I felt like I was the only person there who didn't like them), before seeing this. I don't like Kings Of Leon at all, so FNM it is I think!

  • Stunning Fucking Stunning <3

  • I love how he was twirling in the certain. After seeing FNM at download i have the upmost respect for them! Loved them!

    x

  • TOO AWESOME!!!

  • voice sounded so powerful after he said "come on you can sing"

  • everytime i watch this i'm still gonna get as emotional as i was when i was there on the night.

  • awesome! will never forget this was just so great to witness one of the greatest bands of all time!!

  • Amazing how insynch the crowd is with the band. Definately they were stoked to be witnessing them jam that night.

  • It was so emotional when Mike started singing this song.... It was beyond amazing... I can't believe I was there.. I'll never forget it

  • Mike in the curtain, how damned cute is that?! I just wish they would have kept the camera on him instead of going to the crowd. Personally I thnk they showed too much of the crowd, I don't think anyone watching was doing so for the crowd.

  • I love Mike singing while struggling with the red curtain.

  • well said Thinchap, the man is untouchable and so are the band. F uck it i,m gonna fly to germany or france or anywhere to see them, you just couldn't pass up a chance to see these guys play

  • i was there, best fuckin show EVER! and i'm gonna head over to paris in august just to see them too!

    long stand FNM dude!!

  • i remember smoking a joint with my friends when they played this at Download, what a band, what a show... what a week (nearly!)

  • Still amazes me how he can do this straight after Surprise You're Dead. I don't care what anyone says, no one can touch him as a vocalist.

  • Agreed. His voice is equally strong throughout the entire range, not to mention all the other stuff he can do with it. No one else has ever been simultaneously as versatile and powerful.

I also like how FNM still seem more cutting edge than bands 20 years younger. The rest of the world still hasn't caught up with them in terms of originality.

  • Fully agree.

  • well said good sir :D

  • well , the late singer of queen was also very strong on vocals..i kinda see patton as his succesor...

  • As a hardcore Mercury fan, I agree!!
