@jamesrayment Put at it this way, when Hudson first played live with 'em, he didn't sound right. He clearly justified his role with FNM with this reunion.
For those wondering why the solo sounding different, Hudson clearly played off the original Commodores solo, as to not overstep on Big Jim's take.
@soundgardener75 Just for anybody interested, and quite lazy, here's the link to the original. It has quite a few elements you wouldn't imagine weren't put there by FNM originally. /watch?v=7XcTyEKSnYg&feature=related
He pulls this song off well compared to the rest of the concert, but it's definitely one of the best songs for showcasing his range and control, it's a concert favorite, and he obviously gives it a lot of practice. He pulled this one off more or less to perfection. I just don't think I'll ever get used to the way he wildly goes all over the register and doesn't stick too well to key when live with FNM and Mr.B. He's obviously better with relaxed fans, I'm just uptight about that stuff. Anyways.
I would have trouble pointing out Patton going "all over the register" when it comes to Faith No More and Mr. Bungle performances. Maybe some Fantomas ones, especially so at the falsetto bits. And as far as this one being "perfect", I'd have to say that the one on the Jay Leno show back in day was far better.
its funny how ppl have to make comments how they h8 other genres like nu-metal, i for one like all types of metal that has a good melody to it and sounds good. And if that has to include bands like FNM, Korn, LB, Dream Thearter or whatever, ill listin to it without bitchin about it.
Patton hates so called Nu Metal like Limp Bizket. Once asked the question "you are responsible for bands like Limp Bizket" Mike replied "we're not responsible! their mothers are!" Classic Patton.
Make no mistake, FNM has nothing to do with shitty, terrible Nu Metal bands.
the 2 bands that came on before FNM owe thier careers to these guys , without FNM we would not have had korn , limpz biscutz etc ... i have waited and hoped to see them live again and i was not disappointed , better then ever ...
yeo totaly agree FNM are 1 of the most iconic bands of all time in my books, modern music as a whole not just rock would be completely different and in my opinion it would be much worse off, this was just an unbelievable day that ill never forget, limp bizket and FNM in the same day....i was in heaven!
every member equally awesome....the fact that they are back together deserves a standing ovation, period. Im jealous of everyone who got to see them at the download fest
Oh yeah! FNM and Mike Patton fans! This guy is awesome, the most versatile singer on the history of rock n roll, maybe, Tom Waits is close...
FNM, Tomahawk,Fantômas and the 10.000 other Mike's projects, everything's great!
But...what about Billy Gould?? He is a incredible bass player! One of the bests from RNR! Or Funk Rock or whatever! Not mentioning the fact that the main idea and the attitude to put FNM back was his idea!
@leoppsouza I'm glad to see fans finally recognize just how talented EVERYONE in this band is. Big thumbs up to leoppsouza for giving Billy Gould his due.
That's so bogus the critiques are just as entertaining whether they are good or bad. The fact that anybody would come to this video and watch it just to give it a bad comment is even more humorous. As far as I'm concerned more people that don't like this band should watch this stuff. The fact that you called out Lady Gaga is pretty funny since Patton's recent influence by her has got that video over 100,000 hits.
fair enough people dont like fatih no more, but if u dont like them dont comment, and leave you opinion 2 urself. my personal veiw FNM Rock. Mike Patton is a GOD.

I say support the real rock n roll musicians and not so called band that always to me sounds like there music is thrown together, no wonder classic rock is making a big return. Whats with the boring business type image as well, doesnt look cool and certainly not rock n roll
I dont think a band of this lame talent should headline one of the main stages while an amazingly talented band like Tesla are lower on the bill on the Sunday, "thats insane" and am not the first to say this, goes to show you that you dont need be talented to be a headliner, while bands like Tesla are kicking more serious ass on stage right now around the world than these guys.
How is that an interpretation? He clearly plays that solo with the same number of notes and the same phrasing on the album version, just in the wrong key.
pyroseed, Jon's playing the guitar solo as it was in the original Commodore's version. It was actually Jim Martin who chose to change the notes for the album version and older live performances.
(I know what you mean though, the Jim Martin version was a little better).
And I can't agree that Jon's mediocre, he really steps up to the plate. Nothing against Dean Menta but he couldn't pull off quite a few of the more complex FNM tracks nearly as well as Jon.
some whore who writes for an english newspaper said about that faith no more's cover of "easy" was "ill-advised" and said everyone was left bored and unimpressed with it. she also thought it was a new cover song along with "poker face"...
