This is one game show that I have grown up with. When I was a kid,I was always fascinated with the big pyramid. I always hoped at the end credits that they would show a big closeup of the crown. But now I know that it happened more in the 70's than in the 80's. Gameshowluvr86,It is amazing that you have a lot of episodes from all of Dick Clark's versions and even Bill Cullen's version. You Rock!
I attended a luncheon where Dick Clark was present. He was sitting at a table with his wife about 15 feet where I was sitting. I could have gone over and spoken with him but he gave off vibes that he didn't want to be disturbed. He actually appeared kind of shy. This was four months before he had his stroke.
What would've been cool would've been if he'd included the clip of the guy who used to host the game show block. I remember that guy would come on for just a few seconds just before the Pyramid Intro!
Geordi LaForge was a Lieutenant Junior Grade in the first season, and a full Lieutenant in the second season. He didn't become a Lieutenant Commander until the start of season three.
Ya know that little jingle that we hear at the start of the video before the Pyramid intro? Did USA play that intro before the start of every game show? What would be shown on the screne while this music was playing anyway?
This episode of The $25K Pyramid came on right after Season 3 J! and before the Family Week of color Password which was at the Ilene Ryan/Guy Williams week at that time. Say gameshowluvr, was Family Challenge and Wild Animal Games on in reruns the same day as this episode of The $25K Pyramid reran on GSN?
It was '90s Joker's Wild, '90s Tic Tac Dough, Press Your Luck, $ale of The Century, Scrabble, '80s $25,000 Pyramid, and '80s $100,000 Pyramid. :) Remember it like yesterday!
I thought TicTacDoe came on right before Press Your Luck and that Scrabble came on right after Press Your Luck. Regardless, I deffinetly remember Scrabble coming on right before the Pyramid! What I always thought was weird was that although the game shows always came on in the same order, they seemed to very in terms of what time of the day they came on. For instance, I remember seeing the pyramid probably as early as 1:30 Central, and possibly as late as 3:30 or 4:00 Central.
Sometimes later than that! Can you clarify? Oh yeah, weren't you supposed to be in school during the afternoon game shows on USA? LOL! When you taped these, did you tape the commercials as well? I'd love to see some of those again! Another thing, I'd recommend to you that you include, "No Coppyright infringement intended." in the description of future videos. Otherwise, YouTube may remove the videos, or possibly delete your entire account.
Gosh! Back when USA was actually worth watching in the early nineties! It'd be great if they could do a game show block again! The only thing I remember about the "USA Game Shows" as I called them was looking forward to Press Your Luck because after Press Your Luck (or "The Whammy" as I called it) was Scrabble! and after Scrabble was the Pyramid!
I believe this was a Tuesday episode of that week, gameshowluvr86 which means that this episode was reran on GSN on May 22, 1999 and also, Gene Wood returned to his announcing booth on Child's Play this same week as well and Tuesday's episode of this week had Dolly Pressler making her first appearance on CP. So gameshowluvr86, if you have time, can you post the May 16, 1983 episode that used to be available at Page O' Clips?
I think that whenever Vicki Lawerence, of all celebrities, is on a particular game show, such as the various "Pyramids", you can always tend to expect the unexpected.

Back when USA was actually worth watching! Thanks a lot for including the infamous bumper in there; that really takes me back to a simpler time . . .

How ironic is it that Vicky mensions a scrabble board at the beginning of this episode, and scrabble had just gone off! LOL!
DorvellTStewart 2 years ago 3
Seeing LeVar had Reading Rainbow begun yet?
nextbarker 3 years ago 2
Actually, it would start a few weeks after this week of episodes aired. (it started on June 6, to be exact)

And this was four years before LeVar Burton took on another role: Lt. Commander Geordi La Forge on "Star Trek: TNG."

Yep yep! It was me. ;)

When did you tape this video?
1983, or "more than 1983"?
floridapanthersroar 3 years ago 2
This was a USA re-run from the early 90s.

When in the early 90s?
floridapanthersroar 3 years ago 2
I think it is from 1992. Didn't USA Network air the 1982 episodes a year later?

"Reading Rainbow" was one of my favorite shows as a little kid.
Also, did you know that LeVar also did "Pyramid" in New York City?
vnisanian2001 3 years ago 5
Yup. LeVar's first appearance on Pyramid was in 1977, when he was about to film Roots, right?
gameshowluvr86 3 years ago
I loved reading Rainbow too. I wish I grew up in the 80's though. I grew up in the early 90's. :P
Wolfman12395 3 years ago 3
Yes, Josh, his first appearance was in 1977.
Also, don't forget that he was also a regular on "Star Trek: The Next Generation", and was the voice the Kwame on "Captain Planet and the Planeteers.

By the way, you gotta like Vicki's intro at the top of the show (0:25) She's all like... "I have arrived!" lol.
