Do what I did... spend 200 bucks on focal speakers... yes; car speakers. They will make the piano SING. The vibrations are usually dust inside the speaker grille. which sucks, because it's a pain in the ass to take off.
i have an issue with my yamaha ypg 635. any D note going to D sharp and any A going to A flat or vice versa wont produce the sound until i fully release one of them.
Just got mine last Friday. So far so good, put the volume to max, no unwanted vibrations at all. The keys seems fine with no abnormality. Only complaint is the sound is a bit soft even for max volume....just need to hook up to some speakers later, but it suffice for home usage and pratice. Pretty happy with it so far. :)
Just set up my YPG635 and can't get it to power up at all. Naturally checked the power source, plug, circuit breaker etc. Anyone have any ideas as to what to do?
When did you first start experiencing problems with the speakers? I'm interested in buying this keyboard, but I'm kind of afraid after reading many reviews about the speakers giving out. Thanks.
@SexyStitches Don't blare it and you most likely won't have that problem.. But you just have to re-torque the screws about 6 months in, as they loosen up and cause the chassis to vibrate.
I had this board about 18 months ago, and to be honest, did not like it from day one. My problem was also with the speakers, in that they hissed really loud when nothing was playing.
I have another problem. Can anyone help? The "A" key that is next to the last one in the high register doesn't respond fast enough when doing a trill, etc. It doesn't physically stick down. My 625 did the same thing.
@nickviscuso Dirty/dusty connections on the board... if your warranty is out, remove the keyboard part of the piano and you can clean off the contact surface with glass cleaner.. (spray on the rag, NOT the board.) Otherwise, send er' in.
Oh yeah I know the problem is in the speakers. It's just a the crappy onboard speakers on the keyboards. The video is just up to show people that if they think they're getting their moneys worth for a $899 keyboard....they need to be prepared to spend another 150-200 on an amp.
sounds like a few loose components to me, nothing serious. If I owned it I would just take it a part, find the loose stuff and tighten every single thing down including the chassis.
Same problem with mine, ok in headphones only :(( I am thinking to return mine (got it from Costco). Looks like a lot of people experienced the problem.
just plug in into a line-in or auxiliar home amp and u will resolve your problem... or change the build-in speaker by ur self. Is not a technical problem, in my opinion!
It's pretty much due to the cheap internal speakers. I run the keyboard through my home stereo and the problem disappears, as well as sounding heaps better. Headphones are fine too.
I just returned one to the Guitar center where I bought it . It has a problem as described above . The C# middle caused an unacceptable vibration. When I got there the demo model did the same thing. They opened another and it did not. I am afraid this one might start acting up though. Yamaha was no help at all and denied there was a problem. With me I could hear it even on low volume. Not in the headphones at all. Who knows. Yamaha is not as reliable as they used to be.
Yeah I would imagine Yamaha would be a pain in the ass about it. At least guitar center gave you another one. I'm sure if it's not acting up it won't in the future, judging by the other comments its just a hit or miss kinda thing.
Mine does the same buzzing. Only on certain keys. It's most noticeable on the 001 Live Grand Piano voice. Through headphones it's fine. I plugged in a pair of cheap $30 PC speakers and got the same buzzing. It buzzes at anything over 70% of max volume.
I suspect it is due to cheap speakers. I intend to get some external studio monitors which should improve sound quality and hopefully get rid of the buzzing.
Hi, I had the same problem but I just realized that you should'nt play with the highest volume on the keyboard.
I have another problem with the 630 though.
It is totally fucked up because some keys on the keyboard are now different from the others cause they can't feel either if you press the button smooth or hard. It is like a couple of random buttons on the piano had been selected to have "Touch sensitivity: off" but the rest of the buttons got it normal.
nah it wouldnt be dps otherwise you would hear it when soft
try moving just the keyboard (nothing else, not even music stand), not the keyboard stand, to a completely different room
if that doesnt work a screw is simply loose inside, if it does work, a screw is loose on the stand, either way something is loose or you have a piece of wood sticking out of something but it is highly unlikely to be the latter
if it is the keyboard it should only be happening through one speaker
I've used a YPG 525 for more than two years now and just love it. I'm producing some incredible music since last Christmas and even if I am the Pastor of The Church (which I am) if I don't play some music for the congregation, my Church actually won't allow me to close the service, and they just want to hear me sing and play. I'm averaging doing a concert every other week locally.
1. You have your DSP feature switched to distortion. Try switching DSP (near your on/off button) off or change to a different DSP mode (hold your DSP button.
Yeah, I just bought one aswell, and while I was trying some of the features, I accidentally switched it to distortion. Usually when you play the keyboard you can see one right led burning left of your LCD screen, try switching that button off. If you hold the button, you can try different effects, such as an echo like you are acctually performing on stage. When I switched it to distortion it acctually sounded like your keyboard, so perhaps you switched it to this without knowing ;)
the speakers in keyboards are usually lousy quality (it happened to my yamaha about 3 years ago after 4 years of constant playing). this is the one drawback i see in getting a digital piano over a workstation. work stations can be tight if you have a proper set up.
I've recently had a terrible experience with the Yamaha YPG-635. It has developed three scratching keys (burrs in the plastic)and the speaker system rattles all the components - terrible quality. And Yamaha won't cover me on warranty. So if you know anyone considering buying one spread the word. We need to stop these huge corporations from robbing us blind. Time to buy a Roland I guess..Thanks
ye mine is like that too it seams that the volume can go up past the maximum operating level of the speakers (probobly to aid with the line out levels ??) but if you go into the menu and go to the main volume and turn the number to about 95 this should stop the vibration (well it worked for me anyways)
O ps if you have the chance hook it up to an amp cause it sound amazing
Perhaps you may want to check the speakers. Try taking your YPG-635 apart and check your speakers for anything that can be touching them, such as small particles that can be laying on the speakers, producing a unwanted vibrating sound. Good luck. :)
YPG-635 is american model of DGX-630, which has a type problem (in some of products) that causes the speakers make sound like that. It is not normal, and I'm sure warranty will take care of that. I hope warranty time hasn't expired yet?

Probably the speakers. Try using it with head phones. Also i think the only reason its on the piano sounds and not anything else is just because its got the most attack. If ure looking to put keyboard vids on youtube, you can just plug the keyboard direct into the microphone jack in your computer.
I had a YPG 635 and had problems with the speakers too, also had a dead B key. I just return it and got my money back. Quality sucks on those YPG's, keys make a lot of noise too. Just save more money and buy a keyboard $1,000 or more. Try a Korg or Roland at the store and you will notice
the difference. Remember you pay for what you get.
Yours sound's so much deeper and richer then all the DGX 630's I've heard on youtube vid's, and even the DGX demonstration video for it. every time I hear a sound I like from a keyboard it alway's say's it's the YPG 635. If you don't mind my asking what price range am I looking at with the YPG? The DGX is 1000$ but it's fairly new. When did the YPG come out? It's really newish to isn't it?
Are the Yamaha YPG-635 and the DGX-630 the same thing because I've been told that there deffrent keyboards. Just wondering if you could tell me, you seem like someone who would know.
I have the YPG-635 and the issue that u r having is "not" normal. I went 2 a dealer and they had two YPG-635 in the showroom floor. I tried both of them out. (I played a C chord in the left hand and on the right hand,I played middle c) One piano made an odd buzzing sound at high volume. Needless to say I got the one that didn't have the weird buzzing sound. I say go ask for an exchange. You should be satisfied with your purchase considering the price that you paid for it. Hope this helps.
I got the YPG-625 about a year ago and it does the same thing when I turn the volume 3/4 and up. I've played more than one model such as the DGX-620 and the YPG-625. They all do the same thing, so I'm pretty sure it's natural.
Reason:
Turn up the volume all the way, look at one speaker closely, and press a bass note loudly. You'll see the speaker cone viabrating and that's what causes the sound from both speakers.
Hi Matt, my DGX520 does this sometimes and if u can find something to blow over the speakers.Think mines had some dust or material over the speakers which caused the sound to do this.
So what you're saying is that this is being caused by something being in the speakers? Do you think I should blow a hair dryer into them or something?
That's what i done Matt and it seemed to to the job. I don't have any probs playing mines at full volume-thats normally the only volume I play at (",) Hope u get this problem fixed quickly.
This was at exactly 3/4. My vibrating just seems to get worse and worse. But thing is, it's not as bad on the regular grand or warm grand as it is on the live grand. And it doesn't seem to happen if you use any other sounds. So I don't know, it must be a problem with the model.

Coming in pretty late, but did you record the vid using a microphone, not a MIDI connection to your computer?
It sounds like a mechanical--not electronic--vibration. Quite possibly the speakers themselves, or one of them.
If you don't hear the vibration in the headphones then that would certainly narrow it down.

This could be a couple of things:
1. You have your DSP feature switched to distortion. Try switching DSP (near your on/off button) off or change to a different DSP mode (hold your DSP button.
2. You have a defect in your speaker.
