@snapascrew Yes that's right! Sorry for taking ages to respond! I often find a gate on a kick can be too extreme and you hear that its 'synthetic' sounding even within a mix of 10 or 12 other mics on the kit. You can sometimes help it with some really specific adjustments of the attack hold and release, but yeah in the majority of cases I use the gate like this on a kick

When you raise the reduction you're changing it from a noise gate to a downward expander right? Trying to see if I get this.
