@dnee ... Winning "Most Improved Airline" means very little. They may have improved, but not necessarily to western standards. Also, at present, Garuda only flies to Amsterdam. Even though the ban has been lifted, a lot of European countries are reluctant to give Garuda a permit to use their air space. I want to fly to Denpasar from Hong Kong. Garuda is the cheapest (HK$ 4,200) but I am too scared to fly with them. I will pay more and fly with Cathay Pacific (HK$ 5,850)

I believe that Garuda has improved a lot, and that the airline is pouring more money into maintenance, but there is no way that it is up there with the other airlines I mentioned. Maybe one day. I hope it continues to improve because I wanna fly with them - the Garuda male flight attendants are gorgeous.

Leaving Bangkok Airways (8.40), Singapore Airlines (7.68), Thai Airways (7.32), Cathay Pacific (7.12), and Malaysia Airlines (7.0), and also awarded airline turnaround of the year from CAPA. The scoring was based on general aspects in October 2010. Think of it, if Garuda is still the old clumsy airline, it can't join SkyTeam Alliance and it won't achieve 5-star airline target by 2014.

Try Garuda now, it has full reclining beds, cool plane interiors, installed touch screen media screens (in the year before there were none of these), and wayyyy better foods. Garuda was awarded the most improved airline in 2010, and I believe they will soon get 5 stars before 2015

I'm a Malaysian and had the experience of flying with Garuda Indonesia Airlines on my vacation from Kuala Lumpur to Bali and back. What I can say here is I love to fly with Garuda. The hospitality and services extended by all the cabin crew is excellent even the in flight food served is delicious. Go Go Garuda......

Look, Garuda has a shocking safety record (Google it and see). For a while they were banned from entering any European Union air space. Now, that says a lot!

I would rather get less hospitality on board an airline, but arrive at my destination in one piece.
