  • look at the audience pearls before swine!

  • rap sucks this is music!!

  • "Do what you love..and never work a day in your life"!. Although they were hard workin'...they "LOVED IT!. spectacular showmanship. Unmatched by today's standards. These guys helped shoot the "STAX" label stable to the fore...along with Otis Redding. I love my "FRONT ROW" seat. Thanks.

  • Outstanding!...Real instruments, real singing., small stage. There was a time when you either had enough talent to entertain, or you didn't. Although I loved the advent of MTV, it soon became less about talent and more about the visual.

  • THESE PEOPLE AIN,T GOT NO SOUL, THEY GOT A STICK UP THERE ASS. CAN,T EVEN DANCE, THEY DIDN,T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE SEEING , THAT A SAME. WISH I WAS THERE.

  • Whoever disliked this, know nothing about great live music!

  • I was fortunate to see them several times in their prime; the Sam & Dave Review played my college orientation dance. They were incredible. Thanks for posting this footage to prove it.

  • Wow!!!....Sam and Dave. Just awesome!!

  • Yeah, they just don't make 'em like this any more. Damn shame.

  • Probably my favorite clip on the whole of youtube.

Pure class from start to finish.

  • This is excellent! I was always a fan of their records, but I'm sorry to say that the only time I saw them was in the early 80's, at the end of thier career and it was sad. The timing was bad, the backing band was practically karaoke, they showed no joy, very little energy, and it was obvious they weren't getting along with each other.

But this video shows them the way they were happy. This is great!

  • love this song.....blends rock and soul. I miss it. Can someone please bring back soul? CeeLo: Bright Lights, Big City is close. Maybe more will catch on.

  • to think these guys hated each other for most of their career

  • I'm in the entertainment-business now(My company do a lot of big shows in Holland) and I really pity that there aren't many of these great souls anymore! Everyone is after money, and everything is calculated to make the most amount of money. Sometimes I just can't stand it because it's really killing the creative soul. It's all a part of this generation(my generation.. ) that just can't seem to think for it self and likes to get everything handed to them! Really a shame!

  • so this is who the blues brothers are parodying...

  • Sam Moore in on Only the Strong Survive dvd and said he can't dance. He did a good job of faking it. His singing was no fake though. Singers had to actually be able to sing back then. No synthesizers to hide behind.

  • Thank you for this great upload!

  • You know that music is good when you can listen to it after 40+ years and it still sounds awesome. I wish that we could make music like this now.

  • i just want to know what fools "disliked" this video

  • Excellant Share! Thanks xx

  • wowsers!!! unbelievable!!

  • wowsers!!!

  • Brilliant quallity filming.

  • Yeah! Do It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • They don't make them like this anymore !! Raw talent !!!

  • you either got it or you aint and these guys had tons of it and if we could bottle it and sell it then this world would be a happy peaceful world where the only thing to do was 2 love and be loved

  • check the performance of the dynamic duo if only modern day artist had an ounce of this talent!!!!

  • how can you sit still and do nothing when this music is playing

  • check out my stuff on iacmusic.com song "ruminate" and "politics of exclusion" /artist joseph

  • Sam without Dave or Dave without Sam is like peanut butter without the jam baby! Thank God for this duo!

  • Wow, amazing!!!

  • Man, black people used to dress really cool.

  • they dont make music like this anymore

  • They sure do look subdueed in the audience...when did things change?

  • The audience is..how shall we say...WOODEN. Gotta love the Chermans, LOL.

  • i'll take stax and motowni what great music! thanx for posting!

  • What I would give to see live performances like this. If this was church, I'd be one of the one of the most active of holy rollers!

  • I just can't stop Sammin' & Davin' tonight! It's great music to sort clothes to! (This video is very clear and well shot. Gotta love those over competent Germans, but I sure do wish some of 'em would get up an' dance a little!)

  • Is the audience on Sominex, or what? Wake up people!

  • This is an awesome video - loved every minute of it - such clarity - and those guys such energy thanks for posting it - now in my Favs <smile>

    The audience - no comment

  • Decent quality for '67 B&W. The horn interlude still gets me everytime!

  • The audiences in these old concert films are always sooooooo, so, so, so LAME!

  • THANK YOU for sharing this. Joy!

  • What you can't see is that seats are bolted to steel bars to prevent throwing while machine gun-equipped policemen patrol the isles (joke, but with a small grain of historical European truth in it). More seriously, this music was totally new, associated with "the in crowd" and cool discotheque behaviour.

  • Superb!

  • what the hell is wrong with that crowd?

  • sure must've gotten threw a few pairs pf shoes!

  • Man that was a hard auidence were they enjoying it?But those guys did their thing!!

  • Must be a German thing. I'd be ripping the place apart.....

  • @3w4itcm5cm

no way ! german crowds go nuts at live gigs when it comes to dancing

must be the fact that its a concert with seats

  • This is great i love it 5*

  • what a show , would i have stayed in my seat would i hell !!!!!

  • Ha, How the auidence sits through this show amazes me!!! I'd lose my mind!!!!

  • @1975MADNESS

    haha, i totally agree!

    great peformance

  • This was a great era of music by these talented guys - what a masterpiece....love all of their songs....

  • C'est si bon!

  • See how everyone is seated,we could not dance ,they would trow you out in those days, how could you stay seated with this kind of music ??

  • NO one breaks it down like Sam

  • Great song!

  • It would take a force of god for me to stay seated during this.

  • Little Steven played this on his show "Little Steven's Underground" last Sunday. Fantastic song. Written by Issac Hayes and Dave Porter.

  • thanks for the wonderful videos this is a true treasure of music history.

  • Stax vs. Motown. I'll take Stax

  • you got that right!

    Stax > Motown

  • @josiechas thats two of us!!

  • @josiechas Can't compare the two. Stax was more funky though. Gotta love the funk.

  • @josiechas I just like them ............

  • @josiechas That would be drawing a fine line between them, I love both sounds.

  • Beatifully shot does nt really cover it.Its like one of those Kurosawa films from the late 50 s.Pin shrpe its like being there.

  • beautifully shot, but the stage does limit everyone's movement too much.

  • This is actually a somewhat SUBDUED performance, probably due to how much stage space they had. What an amazing duo.

  • They don't get any classier than these guys. I always loved their stuff and this kind of 60s soul music.

  • I so love this song...good funk sound!!

  • love how the band broke it down doin the Funky Broadway. Hadnt seen that dance since I was a lil one

  • les dieux de la soul!!!!

  • The Stax / Atlantic double act of pure genius !!!,.ktf.

  • Double Genius! Thanks!
