"Do what you love..and never work a day in your life"!. Although they were hard workin'...they "LOVED IT!. spectacular showmanship. Unmatched by today's standards. These guys helped shoot the "STAX" label stable to the fore...along with Otis Redding. I love my "FRONT ROW" seat. Thanks.
Outstanding!...Real instruments, real singing., small stage. There was a time when you either had enough talent to entertain, or you didn't. Although I loved the advent of MTV, it soon became less about talent and more about the visual.
THESE PEOPLE AIN,T GOT NO SOUL, THEY GOT A STICK UP THERE ASS. CAN,T EVEN DANCE, THEY DIDN,T KNOW WHAT THEY WERE SEEING , THAT A SAME. WISH I WAS THERE.
I was fortunate to see them several times in their prime; the Sam & Dave Review played my college orientation dance. They were incredible. Thanks for posting this footage to prove it.
This is excellent! I was always a fan of their records, but I'm sorry to say that the only time I saw them was in the early 80's, at the end of thier career and it was sad. The timing was bad, the backing band was practically karaoke, they showed no joy, very little energy, and it was obvious they weren't getting along with each other.
But this video shows them the way they were happy. This is great!
love this song.....blends rock and soul. I miss it. Can someone please bring back soul? CeeLo: Bright Lights, Big City is close. Maybe more will catch on.
I'm in the entertainment-business now(My company do a lot of big shows in Holland) and I really pity that there aren't many of these great souls anymore! Everyone is after money, and everything is calculated to make the most amount of money. Sometimes I just can't stand it because it's really killing the creative soul. It's all a part of this generation(my generation.. ) that just can't seem to think for it self and likes to get everything handed to them! Really a shame!
Sam Moore in on Only the Strong Survive dvd and said he can't dance. He did a good job of faking it. His singing was no fake though. Singers had to actually be able to sing back then. No synthesizers to hide behind.
What happened to real performers? Sam and Dave could win The X Factor without even trying! A pointless contest, as the best music has been and gone long ago and this was the best of the best. Face it all those Wannabees out there — you just ain't got what it takes, unlike Sam and Dave!

Good morning, do you like sixties? Listen and pod cast my program " great sound of 60' s " on the site plumfm. Greeting and made blooper in rock and roll.
Salut, vous aimez les sixties ? Ecoutez et podcatez mon émission "le super son des sixties" sur plum fm. Salut et faites gaffe au rock'n roll.
I just can't stop Sammin' & Davin' tonight! It's great music to sort clothes to! (This video is very clear and well shot. Gotta love those over competent Germans, but I sure do wish some of 'em would get up an' dance a little!)
What you can't see is that seats are bolted to steel bars to prevent throwing while machine gun-equipped policemen patrol the isles (joke, but with a small grain of historical European truth in it). More seriously, this music was totally new, associated with "the in crowd" and cool discotheque behaviour.
look at the audience pearls before swine!

beautifully shot, but the stage does limit everyone's movement too much.

This is actually a somewhat SUBDUED performance, probably due to how much stage space they had. What an amazing duo.
