This originally aired in syndication during the 1955-'56 season, after Weismuller ended his theatrical series for Screen Gems' parent company, Columbia (however, the last few releases dispensed with the "Jungle Jim" character, and Johnny appeared instead as a "fictional" version of himself).
You might be old enough to recall Jungle Jim on TV, but what about the movies that were made. There were 12 in the series and the first was in 1948. George Reeves played a villianous photographer. Screen Gems then took the series to TV in 1956,
Yeah, I'm old enough to remember this. And I think the actor who played Kaseem went on to play air force colonel Steve Canyon in the show of that name.
Ever notice that these BC jungle flicks don't say in the ending credits that no animals were hurt? I guess the Humane Society doesn't go to the jungle.
@reticulan5 I think you are referring to the Jungle Jim film "Jungle Jim In the Forbidden Land" There was a missing link type of manbeast and his mate. The bad guys wanted to capture them for profit.
@bullsnutsoz No I don't remember. But it's like most things when you see it again it comes back to you.Theres been so many great shows shot in the 1950's/60's that have never been repeated. Then the ones who get repeated 40x like Bewitched,Get Smart,I Dream of Jeannie etc.
thanks I have always wanted to see some part of this show, in 1989 it was till showing in north carolina on tv on saturadys but I could not get it in where I live thanks.
Many thanks I loved this show when I was a kid. Every episode at least half a dozen times natives would say "umgawa" One night watching it a native finished talking and my brother in law said, "hey you forgot to say umgawa." Next we knew he said it. Lots of great memories.
Dear KDegru, Yes! You're right WNEW TV Ch.5 in NYC reran this show on Saturday evenings. That was my introduction to Mr.Weissmuller and to "Jungle Jim".
You made my day. I have not seen this opening since I was about in third grade in 1963. I believe this this show was aired on WNEW TV channel 5 in NYC. It went way about that time never to be seen again at least by me. I would love to see these shows again.

@reticulan5 There was an old scrawny fella in a pith helmut who use to do a jungle series shown in Aussie thru the 60s. Do you recall his name
He seemed to be based in timbuktu, a python wrestled him once in a creek.
