All the Whitlams have been from Sydney, and many of their songs are about specific locations in Sydney (especially around Newtown, where they were based, and where Tim still lives. I used to see him around when I lived there).

What many people from other cities don't realise is that us Sydneysiders have a very self deprecating attitude in general, following the traditions set by Londoners and Dubliners, this is a classic example of that, you can see it in many of the songs about Sydney and even other NSW urban centers like Newcastle and Wollongong.

Other people don't really get it, is Sydney Shit? Yes! Would I rather live anywhere else? No way! Many people will say the same, don't ask anyone to explain it.

Yes Sydney is a whore, and you have to love it for it's body and not it's brain, tis true. Melbourne on the other hand, you can love it for it's brain and the understated lil something I can't quite put my finger on but i'll always love Melbourne till I die.
