  • trollin trollin trollin, trollin trollin trollin, trollin trollin trollin, all dayyy

  • Did Clint Eastwood just pick the shit he was gonna be in by listening to the theme tune? "thats pretty cool..im in" "waaaa wwaaa waaa....yea thats got a ring to it im in"

  • we got both kinds of music, country and western!

  • cOWBOYS LIFE :):)

  • what does the doggies mean guys

  • @YungKoopa20 a motherless calf is known as a dogie.During the 1880s, when a series of harsh winters left large numbers of orphaned calves, the little calves, weaned too early, were unable to digest coarse range grass, and their swollen bellies "very much resembled a batch of sourdough carried in a sack." Such a calf was referred to as dough-guts. The term, altered to dogie according to Adams, "has been used ever since throughout cattleland to refer to a pot-gutted orphan calf.

  • @YungKoopa20 Why, Blunts of course!

  • This song is so great !

  • THIS CAN ONLY BE CLINT EASTWOOD BETTER KNOWN AS roudy yates IN HIS YOUNGER DAYS AS A SINGER WHEN HE WAS AN ACTOR ON RAWHIDE BEFORE MOST OF YOU WERE BORN

  • @rg3855 You are absolutely wrong. The voice on this video is nothing like the one on on the video Rawhide-Rowdy. This is the voice of FRANKIE LAINE. If Clint Eastwood could have sung like this he would have been the most realistic imitator of Frankie Laine in existence. Where are your ears, man?

  • play "Rowdy" by Clint Eastwood same voice as Rawhide in question. Then play Rawhide theme sung by Frankie Laine all are on you tube now.Im a fan of Frankie Laine this version you speak of is not on any of his records but you can find this verison on Clint Eastwood's WEB SITE

  • they just don't make westerns like they did in the 40's

  • This is one of those timeless sing-a-long songs. You may watch in silence initially, but then you are obligated to join in and shout out "Rawhide!"

  • great song!

  • mmm ya gotta love the duke

  • FRANKIE LAINE sang the theme song to Rawhide----not this video--- credit went to JOHNNY CASH--who did not sing it either------this song can be found on CLINT EASTWOOD'S WEB SITE where he sang under the name of (ROWDY YATES) which was the name of the cowboy he played in RAWHIDE-------he also sings a song called (ROWDY)-----which you tube will not let me post

  • @rg3855 Nope, the person singing the song on this video is most definitely Frankie Laine.

  • 1958

  • I hum or sing this song during my takeoff roll .............. everytime I leave home, everytime the local sheriff calls and tells me my horse and donkeys are walking around the street ................ lol ............ just put in 3 miles of new fence to keep them from "rollin rollin rollin ......rawhide ; """))

  • thumbs up if blues brothers come to mind

  • the film ain't big country, but duel in the sun, another great Greg's western.

  • Rawhide sung by Frankie Laine, not Johnny Cash.

  • @debabe7 Monty Robbins :)

  • I love it since Iw as a little child :D Always makes me want to go working or for Holidays to a ranch with horses and cattle :D *dreams*

  • Gregory Peck in "Big Country" with 'Ol Thunder, awesome!

  • I keep looking for the "No animals were hurt in the making of this song" in the credits.

  • My schools Mascot is the cowboys............ every friday we play this song over the loud speaker

  • Great tribute to Hollywood's wild west! thanks for posting this. I like John Wayne's movies is great!!

  • Raw HiDE...ROFLMAO

  • love this--my kids don't understand that this is what i grew up with--so familiar to me; thanks for posting!

  • Rollin' Rollin' Rollin'

    KEEEP THEM DOGGIES ROLLING

  • does anybody remember clint eastwood singing in this

  • Hi from nr Liverpool- I don't remember him singing in Rawhide, but didn't he do a number in Paint Your Wagon? cheers,Ernie

  • I like Blues Brothers version better but this is a classic ^^

  • Wa-Hoooo !!!!

  • Rulin rulin rulin rulin rulin rulin rulin, keep rulin rulin rulin rulin rulin rulin

  • Why is it always the same guys ruining the fun for others. Its actually "Rolling" , Not rulin. I just told the guy the song reminded me of his name. You dont have to be a complete dick about it. Besides who the hell are you to speak for everyone if you cant even prove your own point. Let people have their fun, and stop being such a dick just because your life sucks so bad. Stick to cobain, and the rest of your braindead music, and stop bugging people. You godawfull fool.

  • yea but you could have wrote it sounds like your name you didnt have to keep writing it. i wasnt speaking for everyone i was speakin for me. why was that having fun looks more like wasting time. my life doesnt suck bad my life is fine. i will stick to cobain if every one who likes this music is as idiotic n annoying as you

  • Rawhide

  • This is forever, thanks for the upload.

  • el dorado was an awesome movie, so was The War Wagon

  • el dorado is an awesome movie my friend.

  • I noticed at 1:50 the actor that gets the hand full of splinters is the same (real name escapes me) that played Clint Eastwood's partner Digorgio (go out & get some air fatso) in the Dirty Harry movies.

  • scot, You are very perceptive, amigo. I was born and raised in the USA, but I don't consider myself to be "an American ex-pat" or even an ex-American, but just a Canadian -- Kaptain Kanada, to be precise. I am obviously a Libertarian, of course, but there are lots of us here, and we are all "gun rights" types -- or would be if the damned gov't didn't make it nearly impossible to own guns.

I always liked the old Westerns that honoured individuals, not cops... Like Rawhide.

  • This isn't the Johnny Cash version, it's the superior Frankie Laine version.

  • Who would have thought Blues musicians could sing a more manly version of a western song than a Johnny Cash.

  • Nobody sings this as good as the original, FRANKIE LAINE (RIP)

  • haha didnt the blues brothers sing this

  • my dad introduced me and my brothers to this song. we cudnt strop listening to it. stuck on my head for yearsss

  • what is the movie at 0:46-1:00 ?

  • Of all the TV Western theme songs, this one had the best lyrics. It had some kid name of Clint Eastwood in the show, playing the role of "Rowdy Yates". I wonder if he ever made a career of acting... [Just kidding; don't email me with a list of his films, ok?]

  • Yeah, whatever happened to that Eastwood kid? LOL

It's worth noting that, of the 200 or so TV Western series made during the 1950s and 60s, "Rawhide" was one of the few that was actually about cowboys -- that is, guys who herd cattle for a living.

  • scot, Good point. True "cowboys" were drovers, not idlers and gamblers sitting in saloons all day. They also didn't spend a lot of time shooting people; the "wild west" was not nearly so wild as modern Los Angeles, Chicago, NYC and Washington D.C. Probably this is because they had FEWER cops and EVERYbody had guns. An armed society is a polite society.

  • Yes, we loosely call them "horse operas," "oatburners" or "cowboy shows," but most of the old TV Westerns were about lawmen, itinerant gamblers and adventurers, and frontier life in general -- not cowboys!

As for guns, I've always supported the Second Amendment. Nothing wrong with responsible, law-abiding folks having guns as long as they know how to use them.

I find your comment interesting, coming from someone in Canada. You wouldn't happen to be an American expat, would you?

  • true. I used to work with a ret. Bobbie who came to usa. said in Englang the cops go to houses and " break in" to show the homeowner how easy it is. Dude said in the USA, cops who get there fucking head blown off! I wouldn't do it, and I am a Deputy! Dude said the ppl in Endland can't get guns as easy, so everybody has knifes and blades. WTF? I would rather have a pistol or shotgun ne day. Knifes are for last resort or infiltration only.

  • Amen to that i just came in from shootin my snub .38

not the best of aim but i can shoot fast as hell

  • And you wonder why the rest of the World percieves you as rednecks.

  • i loved this when i was little :)

  • Blues Brothers version betta but an awesome sound

  • yea i agree

  • This brings back memories, as a young boy when Rawhide came on the TV my friends and I would all sing along to this tune.

  • I have spent the Sixties in the Us and ever since I have lived in Europe but I have never forgot this tune!! And much less how handsome Clint Eastwood was!!Lol

  • Definitely Blues Brothers, and definitely stuck in my head :) "Rollin',Rollin',Rollin'..."

  • i swear it's impossible to get this song out of your head once it gets in there haha

  • @GrimsClockwork so true!

  • @GrimsClockwork

    Hahaha:) You are so right:)

I heard this on the radio:) and suddenly I have the rawhide 'desise"

  • Just watched Blues Brothers and I was like "Crap, this is gonna be stuck in my head for the next week." and now it is. Yee-haa.

  • i love the old western storys and western.many of them are better than some movies from today.and the sounds are great:)

  • That's right, it was Frankie Lane.

But i didn't know that Clint Eastwood sang it either! Very interesting, thank you for that...

    :-)

  • Was it the first episodes that were in black n white? Or the last ones?

  • I agree with whats said earlier; the blues brothers version is much better than this

  • CLINT EASTWOOD(Rowdy Yates) SINGS THIS NOT Johnny Cash, or Frankie Laine do the research

  • If Frankie Laine didn't sing this why did he get all the royalties and credits?? no further comment

  • If you want to see the inspiration - and guide - for this terrific TV series, check out the Rawhide website. There, you'll have access to the diary of George C. Duffield, who attempted to drive 1,000 head of cattle from Salt Creek Texas to Ottumwa Iowa, in 1866. That cattle drive - lasting almost seven months - almost cost Duffield his life, and did cost him more than half of his herd.

That cattle drive was at least as exciting as the ones depicted in the TV series.

  • Waoow! Clint Eastwood´s first roll that made

    him a star!

  • That's not Cash - it is Frankie Layne.

  • lol always thought this was by frankie laine :P or is it ? XD

  • I cannot believe you did not include Paladin Have Gun - Will Travel in this tribute. Still I love it!

  • blues brothers version is better

  • got that right lol

    blues brothers rule!

  • The movie was nice, but where was Rawhide?

I didn't see Mr. Gill Favor.

And i have the cows miss too.

    And i didn't see Redbone.

  • And how about Clint Eastwood as Rowdy Yates?

  • You tube post RAWHIDE BY "FRANKIE LAINE" this is not him it is (ROWDY YATES) CLINT EASTWOOD listen to the 2 voices. X-BERT

  • THIS IS (rowdy yates)CLINT EASTWOOD SINGING THIS SONG IS ON HIS WEB SITE WHERE YOU CAN ONLY FIND HIM SINGING. he also sings a song called----ROWDY----WHICH YOU CAN FIND ON YOU TUBE ALSO

  • no, this is FRANKIE LAINE, you expert

  • there was a kid at my school who had a really round ball like head, and we used to sing ''rollin, rollin, rollin,'' when he walked past.

  • the dead kennedys version was better

  • YUP!!

  • dude blues brothers version is nicer

  • But this version is the real one.

  • If you look close at the scene with Gregory Peck in the coral, the cowboy standing next to him is Audey Murphy I believe. That's LT Audey Murphy, medal of honor receipient WW2.

  • Frankie Laine gang. Not Clint...

  • blues brothers version was sick and best!

  • 10 times better

  • john wayne was the best ever and i don't care what u say be is the best and will be for ever ;)

  • by the way, i love clint as an actor.

go ahead, punk, make my day! this is a magnum 44, the most powerful handgun in the world! it'll blow your head clean off!

  • haha, clint eastwood singing!! look at the film "paint your wagon" and you know why they asked clint just once for a musical. This is indeed frankie laine.

  • I love this song this is so cool!

  • THIS CAN ONLY BE CLINT EASTWOOD BETTER KNOWN AS roudy yates IN HIS YOUNGER DAYS AS A SINGER WHEN HE WAS A ACTOR ON RAWHIDE BEFORE MOST OF YOU WERE BORN

  • Sorry, but the guy singing this song, is mr. Franky Lane.

  • OHHHHH I love this- Good vittles, love, and kissin'!!!!!

  • Please-please please who can mistake Johnnies voice for Frankies there is absolutely no comparison. This song is much too fast for JC - personally I appreciate both singers styles but Frankie has always been my No1. I have collected over 500 of his songs over 45 years

  • i volentered to sing this in my talent show and i got 1st place! i love this song

  • Yes, it's Frankie Laine singing, BUT it's the re-recording he made.

    It's not the original hit.

  • I SING THIS IN MY MUSIC CLASS

  • Oh for crying out loud! The man singing was Frankie Laine.(He sang the song for "Blazing Saddles" also) Never would have guessed it would be a mystery. Same for half the movies, being many are John Wayne movies, including the last one with Robiert Mitchum. (El Dorado)

  • sung by Frankie Lane, not Johnny Cash

  • The guy at the end of the video was the late great actor Robert Mitchum.

  • wtf... lol that guy in the end reminds me of Sylvester stalone or what now his name is :P (rambo.rocky)

    this song is nice :P

  • I liked the movie great job... What movies did you take those clips from? Just wondering really BIG western fan.. Some of those movie clips looked interesting.. Thanks

  • You did a great job editing the images on this! My cowgirl-in-training asks to view this several times a day, so I had to add a link to it on my Song A Day blog or face mutiny. Thank you for sharing it! You've made at least one little girl very happy. -Catherine

  • yeeeeee haaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrr

  • In view of all this silly debate regarding the singer, perhaps they should have let Pete Nolan the scout (Sheb Wooley) sing the title song instead. He was okay with "Purple People Eater!"

  • this is not cash singing!!

  • This is being sung by ROWDY YATES (CLINT EASTWOOD) not Johnnie Cash or Frankie Lane

  • This IS Frankie Lane singing!

  • check out ROWDY by ROWDY YATES (CLINT EASTWOOD) ON UTUBE

  • excellant thanks

  • The Blues Brothers' version is better.

  • too bad that we are still not in that era of the past.

  • best serie on tv in holland in that time..

  • This is the original, or?

    Sounds like Frankie Laine!?

  • it does sound like Frankie Laine, now that you mention it. kinda like on Blazing Saddles.

  • that is without a doubt frankie laine singing and not johnny cash. frankie also sang the theme song for high noon with gary cooper. great voice

  • The credits list johnny cash as singin this song.

I guarantee you that was NOT JC. Otherwise good video

  • I LOVE that song!!! Great video!!

  • Thank you! =]

  • Top marks for using clips from "El Dorado" instead of bowing to the Tarantino generation and opting for his personal favourite, "Rio Bravo".

There's a reason why Howard Hawks chose to remake his own film and, imo El Dorado is a better quality western. Surely Robert Mitchum, as the drunk sheriff, blows Dean Martin away...

Mitchum (hungover): "What the hell are you doin' here?"

Wayne: "I'm lookin' at a tin star with a... drunk pinned on it"

  • Thanks! ^_^ I'm glad you enjoyed the clips from "El Dorado," there's just no substitution for quality.

  • that is not johnny cash, but who cares, the blues brothers version is way better

  • Hello! How is going today? I need some more sleep. Rawhide has nothing whatsoever to do with the Bee Gees, so I am assuming that I am on the channel of my friend. So much work has gone into this page and it shows love.

  • lol That was funny at the part where they said RAWHIDE! at the and the sherrif butts the guy with his gun.

  • Lol, agreed. =] Glad you liked the video.

  • Come on, folks! Even with my hearig aid shut off I can tell this is Frankie Laine singing. It's pretty hard to confuse him with anyone else.

  • Apparently, you don't spell so well with your hearing aid shut off.

  • Har bloody har! Folks in the Old West didn't spell very well - assuming they could read at all. I just provided an example - period detail, you might say.

  • Its Elton John

  • I've heard that the person singing this song is Clint Eastwood.

  • so Johnny Cah is a mistake !!

  • who is singing Rawhide here on this video ?

I thaught the orininal is from Frankie Laine 1959...??

  • This indeed is the original from Frankie Laine, a Top 20 hit in England in November/December 1959 until March 1960. Top Ten in England in January 1960.

  • GREAT choice of music man! Johnny Cash!

    loved the video

  • Thank you!!! Glad you enjoyed it! =]

  • dude this is not Johnny Cash the voice isnt deep enough

  • Johnny Cash did Bonanza. You can find it on YouTube!

  • lol nice vid

  • Thank you! =]

  • wicked, they're all really hot :)

  • Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. ^_^
