  • @djpashke That's something I Can help you out with in a private lesson at Dubspot. Just send an e-mail to admissions@dubspot.com and they can set it up with us

  • can someone help me, im tring to set up a synhc between traktor and ableton on a windows 7 64 bit

machine, and then use my numark omni control to control traktor, managed to route the audio and sync the

midi clocks (using loopbe1) only problem is when i use virtual midi theomni control goes beserk

not sure where to ask about this, can someone out there advise me on what i could do?

  • Guys! Can someone please help me? Is it possible to play a midi keyboard using fl studio through one of the channels on traktor? I have a Pioneer DDJ-T1 controller, and would like to play some melodies live at the sam time. Is it possible to to have say, deck A = track 1, deck B = track 2 & deck C = Live keyboard/piano/fl studio ?? Thanks!

  • How is it possible to listen to the headphone cue when my audio card is 4/4? I'd like to route the headphone audio from ableton but am getting lost in doing so. please advise!

  • Lol @ Perfectly Synced. NEWBS ... Sayin ...

  • Hi Endo,

Thanks for the video, I got everything working except ableton will not record what I'm playing for Traktor but everything else is synced up and working. Any ideas on what the problem is?

  • Thanks so much Endo for all your tutorials, you have pretty much taught me how to run Traktor. Is it possible to route audio with the S4 as the sound card? Ableton doesn't see Jack Router as an input. I would really love to use this technique.

  • @DubSpot @Djendo you should update your video nfo and add some information for windows users about the midi port driver since theres no default midi port drive in windows this setup works perfect on osx and windows but you need nfo about the midi port driver add this into the video it's legit LoopBe1 @ nerds.de

  • cool mix /watch?v=lNSJZlOTo1M

  • I almost for got to add, Audio 6 still brand new in the box waiting to excell. lol

  • Excellent video! I have both programs but I haven't had the time to sync them together yet. I also have the APC 40 waiting to be mapped.

  • Hello dj Endo i got problem with Jack audio setup i m using windows & vista operating system i try to sound routing from Traktor 3 with abelton 8 also i have Novation nio 2|4 ASIO sound card jack audio not finding my sound card

  • @akram2kbd check out nerds.de and download the LoopBe1LoopBe1 is a native Windows™ 2k/XP/Vista/7 WDM kernel mode driver, so expect the lowest possible latency.

only issues with windows atm is there isnt a midi port but loopbe 1 fixed that

  • @akram2kbd @akram2kbd check out nerds.de and download the LoopBe1LoopBe1 is a native Windows™ 2k/XP/Vista/7 WDM kernel mode driver, so expect the lowest possible latency.

i ran into the same issue i did everything but there was no virtual midi port well loopbe1 fixes that

  • Hey man do dis work with Traktor duo and audio 4dj too (not traktor duo 2 )?

  • DUDE, can u hook up vsts in ableton on those channels that traktor is running thru, extra effects with a seperate midi controller for it!!!!

  • @tomsawyersucks Yes you can share outputs of Traktor and Ableton and have your synths playing through the same channels as your track decks

  • i've got a problem, every time i start everything up it works fine in sync. but after a while my ableton bpm is going down to somewhere around 50 bpm.. does anyone know how to fix this? thanks in advance!

  • @folkertverdoorn1 Update to the latest version of Traktor. The MIDI clock send is much more stable now with the latest update.

  • ok i got it to all work except using jack router I cant use my turntables?????

  • @cravecase22 Thats really tricky to use Jack Router with Timecode. You would have to aggregate your soundcards. Traktor Bible did a really good tutorial on how to do that.

  • thank you, helped me a lot!

  • ps. idealy

audio > ableton (vst) > traktor (fx)

  • so how do i do the inverse? and if i do can i still use the inputs?

what i am trying to do is have decks A and B as usual, but then use C and a live input for gtr or bass, and D for ableton loops. but have the faders working as normal and not need to switch to midi mode

  • @KRAAG86 I would actually just use a separate soundcard for Ableton like the Audio 2 DJ. Plug that into the input for Deck D. Then Plug your guitar into the Mic input of Deck C, and set both decks to be live inputs.

  • Is it works in inverse way? Can I open the output signal of Ableton on Traktor deck?

  • @djrodrigotorres Yes you can. You just plug the outputs of Ableton into the inputs of Traktor (in Jack Router) and then set your Deck in Traktor to a Live input, and configure the input and output routing in Traktor. Then you can use Traktor effects over your Ableton tracks.

  • @DeeJayEndo Thanks dude, but I did it last week: watch?v=pIyeXtu06d8

  • @djrodrigotorres You da man! Good Job! Saúde!

  • 8:29, why do you have in11 and in12 on the right side, and in 8:33 you only have from in1 to in10, what's wrong there?

  • @TheSeriusly Glitch in the matrix :D Must've been a couple takes and the video editors spliced in a wrong part of one of the takes or something. I missed that one. Good eyes.

  • so will this work with my traktor certified mixer the korg zero 4? and will it allow me to go back and make changes to my cross fader movements like the bridge with serato?

  • @v4valencia1 No you cannot go back and edit fader movements UNLESS you MIDI map a controller to ableton and use Ableton's mixer to mix your tracks. Then you can go back and edit all the fader, crossfader, EQ movements. Try that out. And this should work with the Korg Zero 4. Just map the outputs of ableton to the Korg's outputs.

  • This is a great video, a number of us early Ableton adopter DJ's did a similar thing with MAudio's Torq Xponent when it first came out. Torq has the foresight to use Reason's Rewire to allow this sort of A/B routing into ableton. It allowed me in 2007-2008 to use a dual core to record live mashups / bands / DJs in real-time. Combined with another machine, projectors, lasers, and Resolume VJ software synched to my output mix from Ableton, allowed for truly DMX synchable lights with live VJ'ing

  • Hi Dj Endo love your tutorials, you basically taught me Traktor. Now my question: Can you give us a demo for Pc using Jack Router? +1000

  • this is the most important video for the present session remix dj ever

  • And if I only want to use Traktor's built in effects on Ableton without playing any sound on Traktor? Can I use Traktor with Sends/Returns or something? Playing on Ableton and using Traktor FX's.

  • What if you don't get your soundcard for the Input Device but you do for the Output device in Jack OSX?

  • The title should be How to route audio in MAC!

  • great video!! U saved so much time and headache for me;)

so it works perfectly, but when i wanted to reopen the Jackpilot file i got this:

CANNOT BE RESTORED. If you need this connection you must open client application and retry

and the more important... i have a Zero8 and i had the Channels in midi mode with traktor and the 5 Ch was in audio/midi so then i could listen to the cue preview but now nothing's happening, so i dont understand how to listen to the 5th channel? thx

    P&L

  • Great video, got everything working perfectly but my scratch decks are disabled, is there any way around this problem? :)

  • @PeteBidwellLive Yes you can aggregate two soundcards to get scratch control. You would aggregate Jack OSX with a Traktor Ready Soundcard (such as the Audio 8 / Audio 10) and then you can use scratch control. Check out Traktor Bible's youtube for a tutorial on how to aggregate audio interfaces.

  • Comment removed

  • sooo I would love to know how to do this without disabling my scratch decks by having Jack router as the output in Traktor instead of my sound card

  • No win version. useless.

  • i dont receive the traktor preview signal in abelton, why is that

  • to do this.. do you have to use Traktor audio 10 or can i use M-audio firewire 410 thanks

  • Can we please get part two of teaching a workflow for this kind of set up? I'm dying here.

  • I dont get the jack reader only the jack plugin...

  • @narasface You need to open jack router before you open anything otherwise it won't work. You need to follow everything in the video and in the blog article STEP-BY-STEP

  • please answer

  • Comment removed

  • jack osx is also for windows? and im using asio for typhoon dose that work?

  • Bascially can this be done without spending 400 bucks on an audio 10 sound card

  • @SenorDubplates This is what I wanna know... I only have 2 outputs... Can I use construe something using virtual decks from jack for output too?

  • Any way to pull this off with just an s4 and no external sound card and still have control over all the decks. Thanks

  • Is there anyway to track fader movements with this setup, like bridge does with their midi mixers, but without having a midi mixer - IE: a ttm56s

also is there JackOSX equivalent for windows that you are aware of?

  • can somebody tell me the name of the first track in this vid?

  • @djapeiron

first Track is: Andreas Henneberg - Rotigo (Carlo Lio Remix)

  • It is possible to run Traktor and Ableton on same Maschine ?

  • @FinalEleveN Yes, that is what I'm doing in the video. I'm running both Traktor and Ableton on the same computer.

  • Everything seems to be routed to the right deck in ableton except only Deck A has any sound. The rest of the decks have no sound; even though, the levels in the decks indicate music is coming through. Any suggestions?

  • All my audio in traktor gets routed into the same audio deck in ableton. Any suggestions?

  • how can you do this for ur PC

  • @DjCantFuckinMIx "you are one of these typical idiots that beat syncing is made for...."

    ???

Its not the gear that matters, its creativity. You sound so sure of yourself, but just remember...everything has already been done. You arent bringing anything new to the table...So why talk big? enuff said...

  • @DjCantFuckinMIx

u dont know what ur talking about. Its super helpful. Get with the times.

  • Is that Jack thing effectively the same as Rewire? Or am I completely wrong... Sorry I don't know these things!

  • @DjCantFuckinMIx i agree. i still u the orginal way. but u have agree that this sync fuction helps alot when u want to play around with beats.

  • @DjCantFuckinMIx TWAT!!!!!

  • yeah i noticed the midi clock drifting up and down as well

  • I thought that with Traktor Pro 2 the midi sync is tighter. Too bad to see that the clock in Ableton is still wobbling all over the place...

    Still waiting for ReWire/VST support...

  • Where did you get that wallpaper with the diamond needle and No compromises written on it, its sick

  • ya this is a bust for S4 users unfortunately if all functioning is lost

  • Hey there, dunno if you can help... I have the Kontrol S4 and I have followed your tutorials, I can get audio in ableton, which is nice. But I lose the function of the faders and crossfader on the S4. Is this just something that I have to live with or is there a workaround? thanks.

    Mark

  • Great! Learned a lot. traktor + ableton is lethal. Thanx for the weapons training :-)

  • Says its for mac. Is there a windows equivalent?

  • @lordzbordom

    id like to know too

  • still not sure if this beats out the bridge, as long as the beat grids are decent(serato has them to line up with ableton) sync up is just as good…. there are trades, traktor=no use of platters, have to use midi, serato=no ableton FX on serato decks(session, not post or mixtape) another is recording traktor into ableton like that does not record faders, so all those cuts and crossfades wont be there like it would be with serato and a compatible mixer. I really wish NI partnered with Ableton

  • @koohyar no the audio 4 is just that, 4 mono or 2 stereo. you’ll atlas need an audio 8 or equivalent.

  • Great video Endo,

quick question i 'm using AUDIO 4DJ, is there a way i mix 4 decks internally and route them on Live or I need a 4 channel sound card for that?

  • @DeeJayEndo what is the best way to use Maschine as a sound source put in this setup? And, how do you get such a low -17 on your offset? Mu MBP has a little more juice but my offset is -60? Help appreciated on both fronts, no one has been able to answer those two questions

  • @deejayendo Why do you use maschine as a midi controller only? Why use jack over soundflower?

  • @FYICREW because I made a mapping for Maschine thats 700 MIDI commands deep for 4 deck mixing. Maschine is my baby :-)

  • This looks awesome but if your running audio in Live while using Traktor can you still play extra loops and samples in Live using these settings??? Refering to the first sync video you made.

  • @djjackjones1 I bet you can. You would just have to route the audio to one of the outputs on whatever audio device you are using. The only thing is that in this case you would just have to use one or more of the sets of outputs you are already using for the traktor decks. But it should still work.

  • so i believe this doesn't work with a kontrol s4 since in order for it to read midi signals and be able to cue/monitor, the s4 must be in internal mode. am i correct?

is there a workaround to this?

  • i have an traktor s4...it's possible?for example i find in audio setup jack audio device but not jack router....why???

  • @sogiboy80 ya same here unless i select the audio device then the router becomes a choice but if i choose it, it crashes

  • @sogiboy80 Make sure you follow the steps in this video very closely or it won't work correctly

  • so can it be done on a pc

  • ??

  • @DeeJayEndo Hi! Tnx for this brilliant tutorial! What about routing the signal with the Traktor's internal mode? Thanks again!

  • @JACOPMICHE The whole thing with Traktor's Internal Mixer is everything is coming out of ONE output so you would basically have to send everything into ONE channel of Ableton that way. I've gotten a lot of questions about this though, so let me go back to the lab and contemplate this a little ;-)

  • is there a way that you can send audio from ableton into traktor pro 2? so i can record it all off of traktor?

  • @UrbanClimber2 Yes, you would basically do the same thing but select Ableton as the send ports and Traktor as the receive ports, then make each deck in Traktor an EXTERNAL INPUT by clicking on the black arrow beneath the deck letter

  • @DeeJayEndo I would still be using jack osx right? I am using the s4 (not sure if that matters)

    Thanks

  • @UrbanClimber2 Yes you would still be using Jack OSX

  • Cool video, sadly the beauty of the Bridge is that you can use the Control Vinyl to control (albeit with limitations) Abletons tempo....

This set up is an advantage as you can record your set in ableton however if it drifts and you have to resync your back to square one when recording, why can't sync just bring the play position to the nearest four bar?

And a previous poster seems to be correct, using Jack or Soundflower as the audio device means time code is not supported = FAIL!

  • Connect Ableton and Traktor on the same PC by Joren something shws the windows way

  • wheres teh mothership WTFFFF

  • @tron69snipes I don't really DJ with all that gear when I play out. My weapons of choice are Maschine (as a MIDI controller), Traktor Kontrol X1 (for browsing, hotcues and filters) and the Xone DB4 Mixer

  • This works only in internal mixer mode or if you are controlling the xfader with a midi controller. With a non-midi dvs setup all the xfader work will disappear. Am I right?

  • @GianniTamai No this works best in EXTERNAL mixing mode so you can route each deck EXTERNALLY to its own audio channel. If you want to use INTERNAL mode it will route the MASTER signal to ONE channel in Ableton.

  • @DeeJayEndo ok but what happens to the xfader work? are xfader movements recorded into live? if not this video doesn't make sense. No scratch, no mixing, nothing will make sense in the final ableton file. Just 4 tracks always running at full volume. Am I wrong?

  • @GianniTamai Stay tuned for part 3 ;-) Baby steps!

  • @DeeJayEndo so what does that mean? have you got a solution? ..please you have :)

  • Does this work with DVS mode in TSP2? Download T2 demo but when im choosing JackRouter, Control Vinyl settings says "not supported"

  • I'm not in front of my computer, but could you achieve the same by creating an external instrument in Ableton?

  • Well i do believe this kicks serato and the bridge's ass.....AGAIN!!!

  • @bidders77

Just sold my Serato SL! Scratch pro2 arrives on Monday! Definately agree with you! NI seem to be leading the way! Very wxcited about all the possibilities...=D

  • @bidders77 whats the difference between this and bridge?

  • @bazman27 not much i just think native instruments is way more versatile as far as programming functions to midi is better, plus the vinyl emulation is better quality. i was a serato fan for 4 years but traktor is definitley the better program, serato is awesomre tho and the bridge looks good but i am a converted fan of traktor now

  • @bidders77 lol they must have red ass from all that kicking...explans why thrs red on the serato kits

  • @bidders77 Why? Serato can do the same much easier :D

  • @OliAisch 2kHz control signal for a start, twice that of serato, higher quality effects and a better soundcard that can be used as a standalone soundcard with other DAW's, 20 plus cue points, 4 decks.... i could go on all day....but i won't as the pub is now open

  • @bidders77 The Serato soundcard can be used as a standalone interface too. And with the SL4 you have 2 USB ports, 4 decks, 48 kHz and 96 kHz sample rate and many more.

But my comment has focused on the connection between Traktor and Ableton. I think you can do much more with the Bridge and Serato. Each program has it pros and cons. And I prefer Serato... ;)

  • This means that you can do record your live mashups for future use.

  • cool! can you do that with soundflower instead of jack osx ?

  • Great video, this is extremely helpful. Is there an equivalent to JackOSX for Windows?

  • @NVSBLmonstr Google jack2

  • @NVSBLmonstr I use loopbee, a free software for windows that do the internal midi routing, it works very well

  • @NVSBLmonstr ASIO 4all

  • @NVSBLmonstr Yeah is there?

  • @NVSBLmonstr

    id like to know too

  • @NVSBLmonstr Yes, Jack is also available for Windows. Just google it.

  • @NVSBLmonstr i think there is on Jackaudio org

  • @NVSBLmonstr i found a publication on kvr audio forums that say there is a jack for windows

google jack for windows, good luck ;)

  • well I did a quick google and found a port of jackosx for windows called JACK2... just do a google search for jack2 and it's the first link that comes up

  • I wouldn't mind being able to do this on windows, right now I just run 2 soundcards.

  • Hey man great tutorial! i did exactly the same thing in my computer with sound flower... and it works well (for a while) after some time it glitches a little...

would you say this is more stable than soundflower?

    thank you =)

  • great man!!! i was trying early today with soundflower with no succes.. but this jack osx works like a charm!

so.. traktor synced to ableton, and audio routed to ableton... now let's rock!!!! :D

  • I notice you are NOT using that new Dell... Can you do this with PC? I know the previous "Syncing Ableton & Tracktor" method is not possible on PC. I was bummed to find this out. I did find a program called LoopBE which made it possible.

  • @CarmaCustoms u are wrog, I sync my ableton with traktor for some time in windows, search youtube that you find a video show how to

  • @romulopierotti I have figured out how to sync the 2 together as well, however it's with a third party program (LoopBE), where-as in the other dubspot video, it shows that you can select "Traktor Virtual Output" as an internal midi clock in your controller manager, but when I tried to do that on my PC laptop, that was not an option. =\

  • Is that Traktor Pro 2? Can't wait for the release
