  • Keith Barrow's work is awesome and should be more appreciated. It would be nice if his recordings & Life could be seen on the television show:"Unsung Heroes" on TVONE. Thank you for uploading it here for our enjoyment.

    Gloria Taylor

  • I was at the same school with Keith. He was in the same year with my older sisters. It was a small private school in Chicago.Though he was older than me, I do remember seeing him walking the halls. I thought he was cute!

  • Simply sublime. Peace :))

  • such a lovly song.real music so mellow what a voice.....

  • This is such a wonderful song.Just listen!

  • Beautiful lyrics. I love this song

  • What a voice omg,Sensuallllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

  • Whay a dynamic voice rip""""""""""""" Keith

  • Talk about some smooth love making music from back in the day ummmmmmmmmmmm makes me wanna take my off

  • I love it!

  • tom hardy-makin it last

  • tune, even now... timeless..

  • Real music, this is how real artist displayed their natural talents with ease. This brotha's voice is pure and clean.

  • This may be the original sample for Tom Hardy & 9th Wonder "Make it Last"!!!!!

  • I met Keith when I was 16 at my father house, He was really nice, we exchanged number and we would call each other and talk about church, singing. I'm glad I had the pleasure of knowing him

  • This brother had such wonder chops and an incredible range. "I 've searched so many rainbows trying to find the answer."

His voice reminds me so much/or similar to Sylvester e extremely talented and gone too soon.

  • @bshakara1 I so agree with you saying that he has a sound similar to Sylvester. Both the similar and at the same time so different.

  • @bshakara1 Yeah his voice sounds like a mix of Sylvester and Russel Thompkins Jr. of The Stylistics.

  • I liked this joint when I was in high school. There were no videos then. I found out how he died reading Jet magazine. I didn't know.

  • let's get back to 1978 to be happy again

  • WOW!!!! I have been talking about this joint for a long time and to my amazement some folk have never heard of Keith or this fabulous cut. Thanks for putting it out there!!

  • Keith really got down on this one and "Turn Me Up" was good too. He is the son of Willie Barrow, Rev. of Operation Push in Chicago. He passed away in the same Hospital my mother was in and I remember how groups of folks prayed for Keith. He was one talented little brother but his mother wanted him to sing in the church.

  • My God wickeddd

  • im mad young but i love this song!

  • I loved him 30 years ago.....I hate to ask this - as I have lost touch..but has he passed away....I loved him when I was a teenager.his voice then and now is classic

  • Yes back in the early 80's. He was in the process of working on another album before he passed away.

  • Chi towns own Keith barrows. 29 was just too young for the talent this brother had. I was 10 yrs old when this song was out. I believe it was the summer of 1977? It seems like music and times were so much slower.

  • timeless ....priceless

  • R.I.P. Keith

  • there is no one good enough to remake this song or any of keith songs and i hope no one ever tries. this gift could never be passed on or copied.

  • Unfortunately there is a Reggae cover by Dennis Brown - it did not work for me - and an R&B cover by Premium. That version is anything but premium!

  • I HAVEN'T HEARD THIS SONG IN A LONG TIME

  • This man was just an incredible artist!! True story. This song was recorded in Philly when it was the hottest place for music in the world. World reknowned house band MFSB recorded the rhythm track over his vocals and after he nailed the vocals on this song, These men and women who have recorded with some of the greatest singers in the world, gave this man a standing ovation. One of the most powerful moments I've ever heard of.

  • hey all u guys are tellin the truth about him I have been trying to find this joint for the longest.now i'm happy

  • pure class xxx

  • What group sings the chorus in this song? It sounds like either the Emotions or the Jones Girls. Does anyone know? I'm surprised no one has tried to remake this song.

  • Dennis Brown Has made a cover 1991. I've uploaded it. Bless!

  • Actually on the inside sleeve of the album he gives thanks to the group Enchanment. They are the ones that sing "Gloria".

Also it list Brandy as background vocal and Detroit Symphony for String arrangement. I tell they don't make music like this anymore.

  • What is Brandy's last name. Not sure who that is.

  • @NEXPAR Her last name is Norwood.

  • @whatimlooking4 no his last name was barrows jis mother is rev willie tapli barrows of operation push he is my cousin

  • @gjg1222 Hey Gig 1222 My group "Brandye" sang this background! Thanks for asking!!!! Also Disco Lady, You Don't Have to Be a Star Etc. we are on over 4000 tracks!

  • It's a consensus..Everybody loves this song.

  • New Yorkers,

Remember "Wendell Johnson", who played every club from The City to Queens.....

He could sing THIS SONG, AND MAKE YOU THINK IT WAS KEITH HIMSELF!!!

VAUGHN HARPER IS WHO TURNED ME OUT ON THIS ONE TOO!

  • This has WBLS written all over it. Back in the day when I was a teenager listening to the radio late at night with Vaughn Harper.

Last time I heard this song was a few years ago when I was visiting NYC and listening to Hal Jackson's Sunday oldies show. And recently BK Kirkland played it on his XM satalite radio show on "The Groove" channel 64.

So glad I found it here. Thanks for posting this gem.

Never knew that Keith Barrow was deceased.

  • You are so right that it has WBLS written all over it. On spring break 1977 or 78 my college roommate invited me to go to Mt.Vernon,NY. This is where I first heard the song, and many other hits before they reached Nashville Tennessee.

  • He had a song I remember when I was in college, "Tell Me This Ain't Heaven". Anybody know where I can find it?

  • Keith also sung, "Tell me this ain't heaven. I'm not sure which album it is on. It is a great cut.

  • Wow this song was out when I was very young, but I can remember hearing this on the radio during the Sunday old school duties. Nice song, they don't make love songs like this any more.

  • lets go back to 1978 and buy some cheap gas

  • hey graydog im already there

  • thats Sylvester who of course suffered a similar fate.

  • not me I loved this joint the first time I heard Herman Ammis play it on WNJRs other side of midnight program back in the day...People thought it was Sylverstr...

  • outstanding thank you for posting

  • you know this is a classic.

  • I knew keith, in chicago, when he was active in Operation Push.....He was fun...and sweet....A true Diva...

  • Nice song and voice,I never heard of him before, what did he die fromjust out of curoisity?

  • my old friend keith barrow.. wow do i miss him, we use to tear the clubs up together. the garage, the nickel bar, nat reeds.. wow i was a regular at his apartment on riverside dr. what a taleny

  • what is the nickel bar

  • Wow....

I lived a few blocks from Riverside Dr.(155th St.)

THIS HAS BEEN MY FAVORITE SINCE THE 1ST TIME I HEARD IT.....OTHER THAN IT BEING"ALL THAT"... I NEVER COULD FIGURE OUT WHY I HAD SUCH AN AFFINITY FOR THIS SONG....

    LOVE IT!!!!

  • Keith Barrow. David Oliver. Peobo Bryson. Bobby Caldwell. The lead singer of Enchantment. D.J. Rogers. Lenny Williams. Ronnie Foster. Michael Henderson. All were classic and rich voices from this era (76-79).

  • very true..this song was popular on radio stations in NYC.some great names you dropped!bobby caldwell..what you won't do for love!!!

  • David Oliver was another who died too soon shortly after his hits Ms. and I Want To Write You A Love Song. I am so glad I found those songs!!!!!!!

  • Your so welcome :) Yes indeed they slept on Keith Barrow. He had a beautiful voice which was so apparent on his slow jams.
