  • i remember listening to these guys when jupiter broadcasting barely took off. back when they were audio only.

  • This is awesome.

  • My HTC Flyer fits in my jeans pocket.

  • Chris and Brian, i will be watching again

  • I grew up b4 BBS's. Remember getting Commodore 64 and Amiga 500 games off underground BBS's downloading at 1900 baud LOL

thats some serious history and seriously slow.

  • Happy birthday dudes, i'll be 39 on the 24th of Feb,

  • Bring back Allen! More info less fluff pls!

  • Awesome is really hard to configure. i3 WM is better in my opinion.

  • check out scrotwm, its like dwm++

  • Supposedlythe HUD is going to be voice control in the next two years.

  • 4:39 Lol!! hahahahahaha xD

  • don't see the problem with the hud, it's kind of like the os x 10.5+ help menu. i just HOPE they keep the regular menus as well. that way it would be awesome. otherwise, canonical does it again..

  • AWM vs. XMonad ???

  • Awesome really is awesome. Unfortunately, there is some software (especially Java stuff) that doesn't play nice with tiling wms so I end up switching back and forth between Awesome and Fluxbox.

Also, using those little app menus are pointless. Everything is in path in linux. x_x Just set a hotkey to a run prompt.

  • i love the show. I laught a lot with lunduke's comments ! rsrsr

  • xmonad :D

  • hello joli os was the same as chrome os you could by a joli book but you can't becuase their dead now

  • The guy on the left is just plain ignorant. HUD is NOT a REPLACEMENT for the menus, it is a helper for the keyboard lovers.

  • @sonay1986 From Mark Shuttleworth : "Say hello to the Head-Up Display, or HUD, which will ultimately replace menus in Unity applications." Do a TAD more research before declaring someone else ignorant.

  • @sonay1986 To quote Mark Shuttleworths own blog "Say hello to the Head-Up Display, or HUD, which will ultimately replace menus in Unity applications.". Maybe you should check your facts before calling other people ignorant.

  • Awesome is awesome, but personally I think i3 wm is better!

  • @Tembram i3wm user here as well! :D

  • Nice app pick for Synchronet! I really dig SSH on BBS.

  • Also, shortcuts make sense for power users, most people aren't going to memorize most of them.

  • When HUD has voice recognition, it makes a lot of sense for the platforms you criticize as well. The traditional menus suck for touch.

Also, you presume that the HUD key will be hard to find, and that there will be no way to look through the available options in the menus other than searching.

  • Now you have to do OpenBox, which is awesome BTW. Other than that, cool show as always, expect.... Unity really sucks! How can anyone actually like it?

  • NO WAY!!!! Just got linux-gamers today, and was gonna recommend it..xD awesome coincidence (:

  • I'm on Debian right now :D

  • Awesome review starts at 49:42

  • @Damnated6mil thank you!!!!

  • Learning a new programs options without a menu would be a PITA. And I agree, shortcuts are the key, not a launcher style anti menu.

For the record, I'm not a Unity hater... using 11.10 right now. Learning the shortcuts are the key to learning how to enjoy it.

  • some other solution for lan partyes?....tsk tsk sopa is watching!!! :))

  • OK, let's see how many are live viewers: floaties ftw!!!!!

  • i saw this live :3 Flotaties ftw? xD

  • Awesome episode guys.

  • One more thing... I agree that all this emphasis on GUI's is stupid when what really needs to be done is to produce better applications. :) JC

  • I like menus... All these new desktops are just hard to work with. Menus have been around since the dawn of all GIU's and I don't see why they want to kill them. Hey, we could all just go back to the command prompt. That would be easier than any of the new desktops environments, IMHO. :) JC

  • Awesome WM has been around for a while. It strikes me as very bland and utilitarian. As for HUD, Unity, and Gnome3, it's like the movers and shakers of the Linux development community said, "Hey...let's drive this car off a cliff". They have succeeded. Mint is desperately trying to fork their own solution...Cinnamon. I hope they succeed, because the alternative is utterly disastrous.

  • While it's true many British people do say Haitch these people are bellends. It's pronounced Aitch don't let this virus spread!

  • I agree with Bryan about the HUD

  • Written on HUD: Super+Cntrl+? > Insert comment about how awesome is this show ubuntu please ENTER.

  • I still use fluxbox lol.

    Good show.

  • This HUD thing fits in perfectly with voice commands which is the future of the normal user computing experience.

  • bryan i need copy paste!!!!!!!!

  • Fuck yes HP. I would LOVE to see HP roll their laptops with WebOS. This would mean that we'll FINALLY get some support on hardware like the Beats Audio sound cards, better ATI drivers etc... I might just be getting hopeful here, but if HP is getting their feet this deep in Linux it's not too bad to hope that they'll back it up right? I mean, they'd want their OS to work with their hardware...

  • jolicloud!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • best thing 'bout sundays!

  • If software designers and coders would code cross platform--Windows would go away!

  • LAS and SB on Sunday. Rock on!

  • Im watching this on windows7, feels so wrong.

  • @lihknucks I'm watching it on a mac...hows that for a "wrong" :)

  • @TheOzuze I started watching the video on mac os, but when I saw this comment I rebooted into Linux

  • @lihknucks yip so am it might have to dual boot mint 12 to stop feeling so guilty :P)
