No where in the bible does it say you must believe every word. There are two absolutes in the bible. One is to live for ever you must go through Jesus. It is a choice. No one is born with faith.

There were societies - perhaps they still exist - that revered Jesus, not as the son of God, but as a mortal man, whom they sought to learn from and emulate. Many of the ideas in the bible are good, but the stories are very twisted and seem to be impossible, hence the discovery of evolution, big bang, etc. But, on the other hand if the bible made perfect since and wasn't like poetry then there wouldn't be this thing called "faith".

Actually, the values given in 1 Kings and 2 Chronicles -- a circle 10 cubits across and 30 cubits in circumference -- are merely rounded off to the nearest whole number. It could have been 9.6 cubits across and 30.159289474462 cubits in circumference.

The measurement of 3 was actually what the mainstream Babylonians thought it to be long before the Old Testament was written.
Nevertheless, we now know that pi cannot be rounded to a whole number based on a diameter valued at one. This is part of what makes the bible errant and outdated.

The ends of the earth an refer to where the land meets the ocean and seas. They are also called boundaries. The word earth may not be a reference to "earth" as we understand it. But rather, to soil and rock. You have to read everything in context.

You don't have to take the bible literally in order to understand the Bible. The four corners of the earth refers to NSEW. Hebrews understood the word earth not necessarily in reference to entire planet, but rather, to the land you stand on as opposed to the water, which was viewed separately. Travel was extensive back then and many maps were drawn. The continents were seen to be ragged and not square. The ancients laid out the earth as we do today, with latitudinal and longitudinal lines

What is not versatile, however, is the book of Daniel, which predicts the entire history of the world from the Babylonian Kingdom, Medo-Persia, Greece, Rome and today's fragmented Europe. Atheistic scholars were so disturbed at this fact that they tried to make it look like the prophecies were written after the fact. The only problem with that notion is that they still couldn't say the book of Daniel was written after Europe was fragmented. Tough times for atheists.

Please cite exactly what predictions the book of daniel made and how the correspond with actual historical events. There's nothing about the book of Daniel that is even remotely fictional. Tough times for atheists. I can't go into all the details here. You should obtain a free copy of Sir Isaac Newton's work on the book of Daniel. My former astronomy prof at COS, Dr Christy, said that Isaac Newton was the greatest scientist who ever lived. Look for the Newton Project. At the site look for Theological writings, prophecy. Very technical reading.

The Book of Daniel does NOT predict events that took place after it. It makes vaguely-worded metaphorical predictions that could refer to ANYTHING. (Like, "One horn of the altar grew taller than the others.")

I agree. Jessica isn't well versed in the Bible. In fact, she promised one time to me that she would read everything I gave her to read. Instead she handed it to her mom and didn't read it. She has friends and her mom that she listens to, more than anyone else, and isn't really interested in hearing all perspectives and sides to the story. For a "metaphorical book", the Bible sure is right about literal facts an awful lot of time.
The Bible predicted that Israel would be dispersed world wide and regathered in the last days. No other people group has been displaced from it's land, scattered and subject to genocide, only to return to their land, REVIVE a dead language (Hebrew) and fulfill prophecies more than 2500 years old.

You can't use the book in question if it is true or not as evidence stating its own validity. You must use outside sources. Hence, don't use the bible to convice people that the bible is accurate. Use some other sources or else it will make your argument null.

You really should do more research. The "four corners" doesn't meant literal corners of a square (ie. flat earth). !---> The phrase four corners of the earth is an ancient (and sometimes modern) equivalent to the idea of "the four points of the compass." The idea is that these angels effect the ENTIRE Earth. As for the rest of the passage, it's more symbolism, requiring further research.

And it's driving me crazy how she says "question." Usually sounds like "krestion." Lol, sounds a little cute but just slightly annoying at the same time.

I agree with her. It is so hard to be an athiest in this country, but she is a brave one to stand up and say what she believes. Christian people, don't blame her for offending you, cuz we athiest people get offended all the time by hearing christian stuff.
