  • You gotta be pretty naive and gullible to buy the big-bang-theory. I mean, we can`t even know for sure what happened here on earth 20.000 years ago, but we can tell what happened 13,7 billion years ago? lol.

  • @unlyckystrike if you seen a bunch of car pieces on the road wouldn't you think their was a car crash there. but you didn't see the car crash. you might say yea but we can see the evidence of the car crash. The big bang is the same way.

  • @gigaboy47 Aah, you mean the same way a creationist look at the variety and abundance of nature and see evidence of God`s existance?

  • @unlyckystrike no their is no proof that God exist just scientific things that give us the desire to believe in him.

  • @gigaboy47 I don`t have blind faith in neither the BBT or God. I don`t think there is sufficient evidence any of the theories.

  • @unlyckystrike I believe in both. I want you to tell me how do you think we got here i have been searching for someone like you to talk to for a long time but people like you are very rare. Explain to me how you can believe nothing?

  • @gigaboy47 I didn`t say I believe in nothing, it`s just that we don`t really know at this point. I don`t have the need to make a substitute-explanation in the absence of a real one, because it doesn`t bother me not to know. But I can certainly understand that not knowing might be very troublesome for others, so they need to make up an explanation in an attempt to obtain peace of mind, rather than to live in uncertainty, which apparently is unbearable over time.

  • @unlyckystrike but the big bang and evolution is proven we do know that they happen. Saying that evolution could be false is like saying gravity could be false.

  • @gigaboy47 I`m not talking about evolution. Although evolution is true, does that mean that the BBT also must be true for that reason then? I think not.

  • @unlyckystrike what is BBT?

  • @unlyckystrike No the big bang is proven though we can see stars moving away from each other which means they had to at one time be closer

  • @gigaboy47 BBT = big bang theory. And no. The fact that they`re moving away from eachother doesn`t prove the theory no more than two fishes moving away from each other proves that they came out of each other.

  • @unlyckystrike Fish can move on their own.

  • • SandustanBrasov

The notion of dark matter and dark energy proceed from theoretical physics, from relativity theory of the A. Einstein, from the mistaken interpretation of the physical reality. Something exist indeed: and matter and energy; but is the much ethereal matter and the her energys from the her frame. Dark energy and cosmic acceleration are a failure of relativity of the Einstein.

  • @goog2k Does your mother or nanny change your diapers? Or perhaps your father?

  • @goog2k Is the load you have in your diapers stardust?

  • The, Flying Spaghetti Monster, puts this myth we call science to shame. The Flying Spaghetti Monster is the greatest and most majestic creature in all of existence. The Spaghetti Monster is what created the Universe; tides go in, tides go up, Sun goes down, Sun goes up; I don’t think that all of this could be occurring without the guidance of the Spaghetti Monster’s noodily appendages.

  • It's a blight upon humanity that more people know who the Pope is than who Carl Sagan is. Our species should be ashamed of itself. I hope that future generations will mercilessly mock the former, and bestow grateful respect on the latter.

  • @SubconsciousGatherer Beautifully said.

  • The intro music is utterly mesmerizing. It makes me feel like I'm surfing the universe, zooming by galaxies and all kinds of strange worlds.

  • @RanMan171 you should take a listen to Strobe by Deadmau5, i have a feeling you'd like it ;)

  • Is Carl Sagan Agent Smith?

  • This guy is an imbecile. Planets are not made out of “ash”. They are made out of rocks, clay, and mud.

  • @dmh497 you call Carl Sagan an imbecile?

  • @dmh497 You say imbecile while strangely enough every other member of the educated species we are part of realise he was a genius. Guess who is wrong.

  • @Harlingtonjnr3 When you say “educated”, I believe you mean indoctrinated. Truly educated people know that the Earth was proved to be stationary in 1887 by the Michelson/Morley experiment. Whereas, indoctrinated people still believe that the Earth is rotating on its axis while whizzing through the universe at speeds exceeding 400,000 mph. Can you guess who is wrong?

  • @dmh497 you

  • i dont get it..its like this story doesnt even start off in the begining..its like in the future

  • religious zealots think they have an answer for everything and think their god looks like them.where as white people think god is white, blacks think god is black, Hispanics think god is brown and looks like them and Asians think god looks like them, dark hair, almond shaped eyes, etc. and you aren't bright enough to think that maybe if there is a god, that it looks like an elephant, a lion, a bear, and humans are the ones that don't look like god. god is a fairy tale like the easter bunny!!!

  • check out that nice booty @ 5:23.......DAAAAAMMMMNNNNNNNNNN BABY GOT BACK

  • .. a black matter plus a whole alot of more black matter equals to something??lol

were the fuck do all these elements come from..ther has to be a main source.

it couldnt of just popped out..were does stars come from???anyone?? were does dirt come from??the edges of the universe??LOL come on.

we are just a thought somewhere someplace. GOd created us in his image.ther for our minds and imagination is somewat real in a somewat reality.cause its happening..its happening in your mind.

  • MADNESS

  • "We are,STAR STUFF".

  • So if flatlander micro-organisms evolved into 3 dimensional beings, who eventually evolved a way to "observe" their surroundings, does that mean that in the future humanity may evolve ways to observe higher dimensions?

Could other creatures have this ability? Like the Flying Rods aka Rosewell Rods. So many questions!

  • @krishnadefier humans have 5 senses. Most people believe that anything outside their 5 senses doesnt exist. Eyesight for example picks up photons on a very narrow band of frequencies everything else from microwaves to X-rays is invisible to us.

many animals have senses we dont. There are things we can only understand or prove exist through machines such as infared goggles and radio astronomy.

If you could suddenly "see" cosmic rays would you think your in another dimension?

  • @rustyscrapper The way you explained eyesight as being able to sense the photons made things click for me. Also, thanks for mentioning the 5 senses, I hadn't considered thinking about senses in regards to dimensions.

  • awesome knowledge, love it, thank u

  • funny how this vedio is called the ORGIN of the universe yet says nothing on its orgin but rather directly after the origin seems like another evilution to me orgin on life and then no clear logical orgin

  • @miiror13 A. its "origin." theres an "i" there. B. use punctuation. C. considering how old this was, the Big Bang WAS the origin. they had NO knowledge of what came before, im uncertain if they do NOW. D. seems to me like u dont hav a clue what ur talkin about

  • @ImaxDSHIFTJavier your a retard just for commenting like that sorry i have dislexia (makes it hard for people to read and spell albert einstin also had it) and also you are ether very VERY dumb or old for saying i dont know what they are talking about because they have been teaching it since it was founded at around 1879 when charles darwen also presneted evilution and alowed readical ideas to be born

  • @miiror13 my apologies, i did not kno you had dyslexia. i intended no harm. so many ppl on here type like they hav it even when they dont. although i personally dont give a shit if Einstein had it or not, thank you very much. however u hav demonstrated only that u dont understand either my comment or history. Charles Darwin is COMPLETELY unconnected w/ the Big Bang (which i talk about). not to mention that the theory wasnt first proposed until... the 1920s if memory serves. NOT 1879

  • @miiror13 so u hav once again contradicted urself. evolution, also, was not first proposed in 1879. Darwin wrote On the Origin of Species much earlier, if i recall, and the hypothoses existed long before him. he merely justified and streamlined them, uniting them all like M Theory unifies all the String Theories. so idk how tha makes me old, but ur dates and logic are still incorrect

  • @ImaxDSHIFTJavier actully darwin was the first to think of it witch if i do rember also dint say anything about the ORGIN of life even though it talked about how life IS my point wasnt to deny the theroys it was to piont out how dumb it is that we can have theroys taught that are called ORGIN and not have the orgin in it how did the universe start what created it they dont start at that witch is what the orgin would be

  • @miiror13 noooo, Darwin was NOT. Darwin studied biology, not astronomy. so no, he didnt. the term wasnt even used until 1948. also remember, this is from the 70's? sometime like that. they didnt kno the details. would u expect someone from the 1910s to give u as good a rundown on geology or astronomy as someone from the 1960s? no. hell, they didnt even kno what a galaxy was in the 1910s. point being: u cant judge older videos like this. ur complainin is pointless anyway; no ones gonna fix it

  • @ImaxDSHIFTJavier i actully never said what darwin studied :P

i meant he was the first to think and act agenst the old reform witch worked perfectly fine and probly better then todays untill he thoght of evilution

  • @miiror13 "actully darwin was the first to think of it witch if i do rember". at this point in time, we were talkin about the Big Bang. i get now what u were tryin to say, but i honestly cant understand u. and if ur talkin about the old traditions, then no, it would prbly start w/ Coepernicus (whose name i prbly just butchered).

but this debate is tiresome and i no longer wish to be a part of it. ill stop responding now.

  • @ImaxDSHIFTJavier all in good sport

  • Existing as a human is such an unlikely event!...

it's so sad some people waste their life and this amazing emergent property of the Universe on religion and other superstitious bullshit!... o.O

  • @TAz69x Right On! I agree completely with you!!!

  • Sagans death was another birth... remember and think about what he is saying.

  • The 66 embryos that don't like this video are still trying to crawl out of the primordial ooze and are being held back in class because of their beliefs in the old bearded man in flowing robes fairy tale in the sky and their inability to think without being beat over the head with their bibles!!!!

  • @tellthetruthoryour haha better then believing in a whole lot of nothing u duesh lol

wtf..this video starts off ridiculous..fucking stupid..

how did the explosion happen??were did this gas and balls of fire and dirt come from??were is ther main source??the edges of the universe??lol cmon.

so your saying a whole lof of black matter plus a whole lot of blacker matter equals to.dirt, fire, thunder, wind,??lol cmon takeyour head out of your ass..think for a second wat is reality??lol

  • @1billion1deaths1 ....you are really a moron, you think you have an answer for everything and you think that your god looks like you..where as white people think god is white, blacks think god is black, Hispanics think god is brown and looks like them and Asians think god looks like them, dark hair, almond shaped eyes, etc. and you aren't bright enough to think that maybe if there is a god, that it looks like an elephant, a lion, a bear, and eagle and humans are the ones that don't look like god

Your religion holds you in captivity, you are a prisoner, choke on that loser!!!!! the pope is a nazi German hitler youth

  • @1billion1deaths1 ...p.s. your lame ass tired ass old ugly pope will soon be living in a tent with the loss of believers in your fantasy religion and then what about ALL the LAWSUITS that have forced the catholic church to sell a large majority of church property, all the Nunneries, all the old churches, abandoned by non-believers...those ancestors of natives will get the last laugh at your ancient crusades to kill the Native Peoples of Europe, Asia and the Middle East, Mexico and the Americas

  • @tellthetruthoryour hahaha wtf..dont confuse yourself..keep yourself in the box your in..dont talk to folks like me.im true life giant.

it is wat it is...and u my friend are as ignorant as that of a stubborn mule.

  • @tellthetruthoryour we are just a thought somewhere someplace. GOd created us in his image.ther for our minds and imagination is somewat real in a somewat reality.cause its happening..its happening in your mind.

  • @tellthetruthoryour Maybe they're not creationists? Maybe they just found the video not to your taste. As well as you articulated your point, it doesn't change the fact that you've typed nothing but excrement.

  • Comment removed

  • @SoldierofFortune07 you're just a boy, and you're paranoid to face the truth that if you don't believe in the old man in the clouds at the pearly gates that you'll burn in hell for playing with your weiner and jerking off when you were younger and for not using a rubber on your first girlfriend or watching your dad bang your mom or whatever it is that makes you so full of nonsense and so fearful of what is out there in the world you are a baby and maybe one day when you're 50, you will grow up??

  • @tellthetruthoryour I've done all those things and I don't plan on stopping anytime soon, however to call me a boy is disrespectful and I would ask that you do not do it again. What I was trying to say is that there is a multitude of beliefs that people choose to live by and I find your brand of militant atheism as sickening as fundamentalism within any religion whether it be Christianity or Islam.

  • @SoldierofFortune07 ...Burp! That's nice, glad you have the Universe all figured out at 22 years old! I'm not an atheist nor a militant.. I don't know where you made that one up from. Not everyone believes god is an old white guy with a long flowing beard and long hair in white robes sitting up on a cloud. Again, you are young, and you are still carrying all that brainwashing from your childhood growing up in Ireland, whether catholic or protestant, so don't get all high and mightly labeling me.

  • @You're the one who's labeling. The fact that I am Irish does not mean that I am Catholic or Protestant. I do not believe in organised religion but that's another kettle of fish altogether. I assumed you were a militant atheist because I noticed that you ripped the piss out of anyone who held christian beliefs. Whilst I have already stated that I detest fundamentalists of any sort I also revile the type of atheist who is smug in the knowledge that s/he's better than everyone else with belief in

  • @tellthetruthoryour (continued) a higher being. I gathered you are a militant atheist from your previous comments so please forgive me for making an educated guess.

  • @tellthetruthoryour Tell me why do you have to be athest to enjoy science.

  • @gigaboy47 Because you can't truly enjoy science if you are held back by your faith and what the text of you religion wants you to believe. There is caution when dealing with evidence that contradicts their own idea of how life came into existence, there is no chance of adaptation cause what the text says is what you must believe. You either become a true believer of your faith and please your so called god, or become a heretic and distort the teachings already planted in your belief.

  • @Drbolla345 No i am a strong christian I preach to others about things they do wrong with their lives. I still however accept evolution because I see no conterdictions between it and the bible.

  • @gigaboy47 What are you talking about. Haven't you heard about creationism, Adam and Eve and books that contradict the evolution theory. You enjoy science, but you are stepping across the borders of your faith. For example, in the bible it says that god created the world in the center of the universe when this is false, 1 Chronicles 16:30: "He has fixed the earth firm, immovable." written in the bible. Lets admit that even though you do follow your god, you aren't a true christian text wise.

  • Are you going to ignore the teachings of the bible about the world being the center of the solar system when it clearly states it in your bible. If you must be a follower of your god and the bible that constitutes the basis of your religion, you have to believe everything that it says, or else you aren't a true believer at heart. Opposing theories that contradict the bible makes you a heretic, just like every scientist in history who has been demeaned by the church for their scientific ideas.

  • Not Opposing, I meant Supporting.

  • Being a believer of evolutionary theories does have an affect on your christian ideology. For example it disproves that Adam and Eve was created by god, cause evidence claims that humans were adapted through years of evolution from different species of animals and primates. And it says in the bible that God created man first during his seven days of creation. That demotes the primordial soup, the dinosaurs and all else. You cannot be a true christian when you preach something against your faith.

  • @Drbolla345 no it doesn't why couldn't God have created man though evolution. Also I don't believe the seven days are literal and they were many other Christians way before Darwin and even Lamick. That also believe the days weren't actually 24 hours.

  • @gigaboy47 how do u reconcile bible and evolution, evolution means no adam and eve,no original sin,no need for redeemer, implies jesus is a stupid fairytale, means christianity is fake, and so r all d religions dat subscirbe to adam and eve kind of creationism, how do u reconcile dat with d bible?

  • @thescorpionking2020 I suggest

  • @thescorpionking2020 I suggest you read "Finding Darwin's God."

  • @gigaboy47 i will,i know about dat book i'll read it but plz i need to know how do u reconcile it in ur own words,i mean evoluton pretty much annihilates d abrahamic belief systems and d rest of it is all mythology

  • @thescorpionking2020 Ok have you ever read a poem before and couldn't understand it. When we are in are young ages we tend to take things more literally. As we get older we tend to take things deeper. The same is true about the human race. If you look at earlier civilations they had statues of reproductive parts. Over time people have tend to be more mature and more deeper then all that. The same is with religion. At first everyone took the genesis literally and while some still do Christians.

  • @gigaboy47 if it is not meant to be taken literally y not just say dat d virgin birth and resuurection are also not meant to be taken seriously, dats just metaphorical, cmon man without adam and eve there is no jesus, adam and eve has to be true, and there has to be fall of man, original sin for which ur "mythical" god had to die,u cnnot hav a real person dying for a metaphorical sin, when sumthing in ur book is disproved u say-"aah dat was not meant to be taken literally, dats just metaphorical"

  • @gigaboy47 cmon man accept it,its all mythology nuthing else, bible quran or wateva religious book they r all fairytales, its not even right to call them fairytales considering d millions of people who hav lost thr lives coz of this bronze age nonsense, jesus was not d son of god, there may hav been a person by dat name roaming around in 1 st century palestine but he died ok he's gone now leave him behind and move ahead,no need 2 believe in this stupid nonsense, this is d space age not d bronze age

  • @thescorpionking2020 But the space age makes religion interesting. Imagine what it will be in the future. I will choose to continue to be a christian. If you want to join me I will be glad to help you start if not then leave me alone and I will lat you continue your live. I can not stand to live my life without God I would probably commit suicide if it wasn't for Jesus GOd's son or just a person so why can't you accept that.

  • @gigaboy47 good luck to u for living ur life on a lie, continue to delude urself,i atleast hope u think on what u believe

  • @thescorpionking2020 are starting to take it more metaphoally. Also about the "myths" I don't have to explain those because they were meant to be taken as miracles. If they were not in there how far do you think religion would go. When you read a fairy tale do you say that couldn't happen I hate this story now and we should burn everyone book that even has similaries with it. No it is sort of the same thing with religion. Instead however with religion you suppose to use faith when reading it.

  • nope.. some invisible dude said 'bang' and we all existed... people of different skin color/religion are the reason for all your problems...., mountain dew is good for you and wrestling and nascar is 'real'....

  • you rarely see such one-sided support on the ratings for youtube videos. he had such a great mind

  • Big Bang theory never denied the possible existence of a ' Power' Why do those who are into science deny a supreme power and those who are religious look down upon science? Science and Religion = spiritualism. All living beings are an 'energy' 'spirit', 'soul' . Be open minded everyone. Even, Stephen Hawking asked 'Where did we come from? why are we here? at the end of his lecture of Origin of the Universe. Even Einstein believed in a being that may have caused this all. Be open-minded

  • @MegaYada well i think its a stretch to call science spiritualism, it is materialism as it is the exploration of material causes in a material world. Science can not deny a deistic "power" because it simply can not be tested. The real issue here is people, not the disciplines. I agree with you 100%, everyone needs to open their minds to all possibilities, but I also add that we must accept those basic truths that science has brought us to. e.g. 1+1=2

  • There can be only one

  • So there was no Talking Snake? 8-(

  • @lewisner Yes there was but he was a Hindu

  • Origin of the Universe. It is one big box without an outside, therefore we have no location and no time (both illusions of our own manufacture, as our own home is questionable as we have move across the Universe in different ways). we see something by our natural survival traits, but everything we have seen is secondary information, primary information is hidden in the Universe itself (kind of like asking a cat what is outside our cave as we cannot see outside, but the cat can see outside).

  • @WOWJBEOWULF Wow, you seem a little bleak about the whole thing. Cheer up, although us puny humans have tiny eyes and silly arms and legs, using our minds and things like mathematics, we can see almost to the beginning of time and things so small that even god would say "hey! get the fuck out of my kitchen!"

  • @breaneainn In order to have no outside, the Universe is made of nothing; but quantum wave theory does give us the possible symptom of how time & space exists: By the observers of the Universe, all quantum entangled and collapsing the wave function at observation, creates time & space energy relationships, relativity conditions; this time & space is based upon the observers of the Universe and their relationship to each other; there is no space, only energy relationships: Infinite Universes.

  • @WOWJBEOWULF I'm not disagreeing with you, but don't let the idea of quantum decoherence put you in a position where nothing exists in the universe until you observe it. This is a popular misconception. Decoherence describes where and when things are on very small scales. The nature of reality on our scale is far more stable and reliable than that. We all have our own bubble of relativity for sure, but we are not seperate from the universe because of that, we are one and the same.

  • I don't get it.... Sagan is being used by the fucking Republican Governors Association? As what exactly?... proof they're a pack of unprincipled, pandering hacks? Or that they haven't a ethical, or moral leg to stand on?

  • Bloody Iron age mythology worshippers, I swear every single scientific video has comment after comment from you, and you wonder why Atheists get irritated by your BS, and feel the need to eradicate your believe system.

  • Reminder: When religious people say "scientists can't figure it out, therefore God exists" they are employing the logical fallacy known as "appeal to ignorance" which states that "nobody has disproved X, therefore X exists"

Works the other way too, when atheists say "nobody has proved God, therefore God does not exist"

So basically agnosticism is the logical choice

But goddamn if jesusfreaks dont make it hard to beleive

  • @TurboSpaghettiRobot

But it is the believer that the burden of proof is on.

Ok for example say somebody comes up to you and says: "i believe a green invisible alien monkey with supernatural powers created the universe using sausage meat and cheese"

Now proove that wrong, disprove it, you cant because i invented it.

And it would be up to me to prove it, get it.

    Agnostics don't get this part.

  • @TurboSpaghettiRobot

But it is the believer that the burden of proof is on.

Ok for example say somebody comes up to you and says: "i believe a green invisible alien monkey with supernatural powers created the universe using sausage meat and cheese"

  • But where did that initial matter of great density come from in the first place? As I understand some theories have it that the concept of time only came about as a result of the Big Bang. But what was "before" that? What was the impetus for the leap from "nothingness" to "somethingness"?

  • @Archigearour HA! here's the thing. Creationists believe the universe is the effect of a cause (god). What if the universe IS the cause? What if asking the cause of the universe is a dumb question and we should be asking what effect the universe has?

  • @Archigearour quantum fluctuations, consider this, our universe has an energy value of 0, therefore it is possible to achieve this from nothing. Provided I understand theoretical physics today the space in the universe is probably infinite. What the big bang represents is the starting point of the energy we are and that exists in the universe which all comes from a quantum fluctuation and contains 0 energy. Look into it, it's incredibly interesting.

  • @Mekiwyn Yes, you understand quantum fluctuations!

  • Its too bad most people don't even know what the big bang really is. It was a quantum fluctuation, and expansion of nothing. The same amount of positive and negative matter expanding from nothing. The universe is equal to zero which means it can come from zero. Zero=what we perceive as "nothing"

  • @bouiglob thank-you, it's nice to see atleast someone else out there stating this.

  • The fool says in his heart, "There is no God." - Psalm 14 v1a

  • @corgan77 No one whose testicles are crushed or whose male organ is cut off shall enter the assembly of the Lord.

    Deuteronomy 23:1

  • @sweetmonkeylove1 "Why?" say the poor guy is tortured because of his belief in the ALMIGHTY, just think if this man suffers such tortures defending his faith in GOD then what happens???

  • Nothing. God is a myth. The point I was making is that quoting scripture holds no water because it contradicts itself and shows itself to be man made when put under scrutiny. I just think it's funny that the best christian on earth can't go to heaven because a car ran over his balls.

  • The DVD collection this is on only costs $70. It is absolutely worth it.

  • @Casanuda its all free on the tube

  • @Casanuda I asked for it for Christmas. Hopefully I'll get it!

  • @Casanuda that's more than i make in a month.

  • beautiful

  • This is why I don't need religion.

  • Carl Sagan brilliance is even more so in that he could explain so that we could understand. Love Him and grateful he happened!

  • If time and space emerged from the Big Bang, maybe the "laws" of time and space only operate within the unviverse, and outside of it, events can branch off and lead backward to cause the Big Bang in the past.

  • How can there be an anything outside the universe? How can there be "anything" outside the universe? Events affecting the universe would by definition be part of the universe.

  • @particlelight If you take "universe" to simply mean "everything" you cannot make proper distinctions. In a multiverse scenario, our universe branched off from another universe, which would have affected us in the past but we are now cut off from it with no further interaction. In a "brane" scenario, defining our universe as the sum of all matter in galaxies, the force of gravity is the influence by way of an intersection into our three spatial dimensions of a higher dimension universe.

  • By accident?

  • what is the song at 7:46?

  • PhantomMajor, the music you hear on the Carl Sagan documentary is from Ludwig van Beethoven's 6th Symphony. Appropriately called the Pastoral Symphony, it was Beethoven's tribute to the natural world and a very good choice of music for this film. If you've never heard it in its entirety I highly recommend you get the CD and give it a listen.

  • Carl Sagan is the man. I am trying to read all of his books. I got cosmos, contact read so far.

  • Contact is a great book.......movie is pretty dumb though.

  • @Hunkola

You're an idiot. Contact was an excellent movie.

  • It is hard knowing that there is a creator when so many are willfully ignorant to the fact. It cannot be refuted that there was a creator, science shows there is no doubt a creator. Cause and effect can prove this alone but, I can go further beyond cause and effect to explain infinity and how it is impossible that we are currently at infinity in time. We would be surrounded by infinite other entities that had evolved in infinity x probability if the universe had always existed.

  • More can be explained and reasoned through logic and deduction that there is in fact a creator that lies outside of space time. It is unbound by science because it created science, it is unbound by cause and effect because it created cause and effect. It is the initiator of all things. Is it a he? or a she? probably not.. it is most likely self aware, it is a force of energy that is more than any science can analyze. This is the word of science and logic, not faith.

  • If you can assert that a deity who created the universe exists, then it is even easier to assert that the universe simply exists as that is the simpler explanation.

  • easier is not always correct. It is easier to rob a grocery store than to work, but it is not correct to do so. It is easier to assume there have never been dinosaurs because I never saw one, but it is not correct. The experiment is a thought experiment using deductive logic and reasoning which cannot be refuted with deductive logic or reasoning. It is as pure as it gets. We have a creator, the only way to deny it is to use a form of faith that we do not.. to deny it in ignorance.

  • also, I will argue again that the universe existing always is not the easier answer after all. For if it had existed for infinity then we would be surrounded by alien life, as said before. Infinity x probability + migrating evolved life = us surrounded by intelligent life. We are not surrounded by this life, and so we are not at infinity in time. There was a starting point which came from outside the laws of science/space/time/cause and effect.

  • There is simply no way to refute it with deductive logic and reasoning. Anything one might say against it is not by their own logic and reasoning, but by a flawed text-book answer that they follow because it brings them comfort, using their more primitive mind rather than their higher mind (watch Carl Sagan on the human brain to see what I mean) When you use the higher mind you realize new things that you don't realize while simply following suit with other leaders ideas or opinions.

  • That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

  • I never claimed that the universe existed for an eternity. I was saying that if you say that a deity can be postulated to solve the problem of existence, then it is simpler to state that a singularity at the beginning of the Big Bang is the uncaused cause of the universe. We can simply state that time began at this point. However, neither answers are good answers because neither are supported by evidence. The best answer is to simply state a lack of knowledge.

  • You are confusing the issue. You have an untestable idea, therefore it can be immediately rejected.

  • I am doing no such thing. Your logic is simply flawed. The big bang is a product of science, it would require cause and effect to have caused it as it resides within space-time and is bound by all mathematical logic. The evidence is mathematics, logic, reason and deduction. Evidence is not always tangible, show me evidence that you are "real" inside your mind, show me evidence of your conscious awareness and let me know it is not simply an automated programming running you.

  • The Big Bang isn't a product of science. Science is a method for studying the reality. Nothing it studies is a product of science. Science requires empirical evidence.

  • Now you are just arguing for the point of arguing, trying to simply be right. When I use the word Science I mean physical nature, not the tool that humans use. and no, I can program a computer in visual basic to state that it is self aware, I can give it algorithms to seem intelligent but it is simply a program. You can never prove to me with 100% certainty that you are self-aware, As wikipedia puts it in their article on mind uploading: the physiological genesis of 'mind' is not currently known

  • wow, citing wikipedia. What a great source of information.

  • wtf, yes it is. The princible comes from hubbles law, hubble was the first person to observe redshift. IT is therefore emperical evidence. Infact if you have taken an astromomy course at university you actually physically use telescopes to calculate hubbles constant and determine the time of the big bang for yourself.

  • Sorry, but it seems that you misinterpreted my comment. The Big Bang theory is a product of science, but not the Big Bang itself. I wasn't denying the theory. The poster I was responding to claimed that the Big Bang itself was a product of science. He didn't seem to actually understand what science really is. Again, sorry for the misunderstanding

  • you cannot prove to me that your conscious awareness is real in any way because I can never experience being you. But I can see through logic, deduction and reason that you are most likely a real conscious entity, even though I will never personally have any solid evidence of that. The simpler answer is to follow logic and deduction and to realize cause and effect came from a place unbound by mathematics, science or cause and effect. A creator outside space time.

  • You can show me the product of your supposed conscious awareness, your assumed sentience. But you can never, never show me your conscious awareness. And because of this I can dismiss the possibility without evidence, and also assume that you are not really a thinking, feeling intelligence. See how silly it sounds. We all follow different paths in our seek for knowledge, and I find the differing views fascinating. Thanks for the argument.

  • The behavior and anatomy of humans can be studied though. Given how similar humans are, to state that I am self-aware is supported by evidence.

  • god of the gaps theory. Or I should say creator of the gaps.

  • Given that you haven't run any experiments on the subject nor have you even made any testable predictions, your idea is unscientific. The best response to the question of the origin of the universe is to simply say that we don't know. This, however, doesn't make the existence of deities any more likely.

  • I cant wait until the religion of the worlds unites to worship knowledge. To reverse engineer the universe to find god. A faith the mirrors reality.

  • no matter what they think about the big bang u got ask1 question can a match stick strick itself? i didnt think so no tell me if the big bang happened how did it start an what started it?

  • @metalslugz1 its a simple but an answer not 1 scientist can aswer or any so forget about how we evolved if thats what you believe, if they can answer me that question then il maybe accept there THEORY! yes dnt forget its a THEORY it cnt be proved so y jump on the band wagon with the rest of these clowns

  • "Some scientific explanations are so well established that no new evidence is likely to alter them. The explanation becomes a scientific theory. In everyday language a theory means a hunch or speculation. Not so in science. In science, the word theory refers to a comprehensive explanation of an important feature of nature supported by facts gathered over time. Theories also allow scientists to make predictions about as yet unobserved phenomena,"

The definition of theory according to the NAS.

  • @alexrj2

I'll believe 10 fold from the highest and most intelligent Astrophysicists such as Carl, Einstein and Hawkings (to name a few) along with the world's top scientists on cosmic research that the big bang happened, rather than some inerudite mind on the subject from some random poster on YT. Lemme guess, you probably think the moon landings never happened too right ? -rolls eyes-

  • @alexrj2

    you're a retard.

  • dont call me what you feel about yourself

  • @alexrj2

your logic is incredibly flawed if that's what you think i'm getting at here

  • @Savaril what do you mean?
