Why not? Everybody has the right to do so. And so have the audience to not listen to those covers. For instance, I'm a huge fan of the Scorpions; if, let's say, Snoop Dogg made his own version of We'll Burn the Sky, I wouldn't listen to it anyway, since I'm not into rap.
well covers are better than changing the song into something completely different! this actually sucks, and i dont know why they did this. The scorpions were heavily influenced by The Who, look at the drums with the arrow or the way rudolf schenker does the windmill ...
I don't think it sucks. I actually prefer this version to the original one. Plus, as I wrote before, if you want to make your own version of a song, just pay the royalties and go ahead. What's wrong with that? If you don't like the song, just don't listen. It's that simple.
Mostly covers only copy the musics, like Behind Blue Eyes.
Scorpions really know how to make covers, changing the musics and making them looking as their own, like Dust in The Wind, Love of My Life and I Can't Explain. It almost makes a completely different song from the original one.
okay the whos version doesnt suck but i definatly like this better.....plaus i just hate most 60s music . its not heavy enough and doesnt make me feel good
tell me one person better than matthias jabs and dont tell me someone that can play fast just because they can play fast its all about how it sounds and matthias ownsssss
You are so wrong. It's not the Who but I think it's a good cover. They make it sound like a Scorpions song rather than try to copy the Who. I hate copying.
Actually, Rudolph was using a Pete Townsend guitar. They were going to do an Elvis cover, but it broke a string on the first note. They felt Pete's Guitar was trying to tell them something.
The Scorpions arent trying to out do The Who. Rudolph was practically inspired to play guitar by Pete Townshand. You can tell when he does the windmills with his arms. Also on the bass drums it say Scorpions, but with The Who arrow.
Nice but come on...listen to some of the who's recent version of this song....f'in mesmerizing.....Scorpions..nice little story...but kneel down to the best.
This is the gayest thing I've ever seen... Hair metal version of the who? Stick to rock you like a huricane you fucking cock smokers! Fucking pathetic...
Way back in 1989, the Make A Difference Foundation convinced some prominent hard rock bands to cover some of their favorite rock songs from bands who had members die due to drug use. Money raised from the project would then be used by the foundation to fight drug addiction. It must be hard for you to not be an idiot, but maybe do a little research first...
Yeh, my bad for not researching this totally rad cover song's history... Meee just two dumb.. I couldn't care less, I gaurentee these dousche-bags were blowing thousands of dollars in cocaine at the time of this drug research campaign.. And even if they weren't, its still no excuse for making such a pathetic rendition of a great song. Sorry if my response was a little insensitive to you "hard rock" fans out there...
I dont know what u guys r talking about. Ill just say i was unfortunate to be born a bit late to grow up with these guys, but THE SCORPIONS ROCK!!! and this is one of the best songs
jesus christ! that´s awful. that´s not showing respect to the who, that´s futzing with an all-time monster song and tunring it into a goddamn spandex commercial. most people would chop their right arm off to write townshends´ songs, covering them ain´t an easy task, but these fellas they suck big time.
How can you call the who gay? Peter Townshend was such an inspiration to the scorpians that without him, this cover, and probably the scorpions themselves wouldn't even exist without the who
I'm not badmouthing the scorpions, but its just that normally, covers cannot compete with origionals
Tom Cochran's Life is a Highway is better then Rascal Flatts version. Bruce Springsteen's Blinded By the Light is better then Manfred Mann's version. Hell even the Beach Boy's version of Barbra Anne is better then The Who's cover. its just a common deal that covers are not as good as origionals
I think covers can compete with the originals, but you gotta respect the original band of doing something that these guys think is worth making a cover version, you know.
There are some cover songs I prefer to the originals. One is Priest's Green Manalishi.
I didn't even know the Who recorded it first till I heard it on SAGA over the net a couple months ago, HA!! This is one of my favorite songs from Scorpions.
Hello degeneration1 You're Fucking up the wrong tree you fucking FAGGOT. Why dont you take your WHO hating ass and fuck it with a thorn bush. The Who are great artists and writers. The scorpions (not to mean disrespect to them because they rock aswell) never really cut through any untouched musical territory. They were just main stream much like My Chemical Romance today (except the scorpions are good and MCR is not) So dont diss real artists like the Who
i knew scorpions are really big shit, but did not know that they are soooo big shit

This doesn't even come close the Who. The Scorpions sound like a wedding band here LOL

you can never compare a cover from the real one.... but you can take this as a nice tribute to The Who.....
chorizoalegre 2 years ago 3
This song shows how much a band from the 60's can influence a band later even though at first they don't sound at all alike.
dajakester 3 years ago
I love the Scorpions but this is just too much. Totally killed the song. Like Judas Priest's cover of Johnny B. Goode

If you play it as the original one, it's just a copy
