A mac mini refresh would be a blessing straight from God almighty.

Its been SO long since an update, and the mac mini has fallen so far behing the apple benchmark. If apple does dicide to revamp it, Id be gettin one right quick! Seeing how much potential the mac mini has, as not only a fully intergeated enetertainment hub,(hdmi/wifi) but a modertely high powered development machine (sd / ram port)

Get me amped!

And if apple decides NOT to release it, well..They'd have a whole lot of splanen 2 do

I've actually been waffling on getting a Mac Mini for some time now. I do artwork and have been looking more and more at Apple, but finally decided to build an art PC with a SSD and all that fun stuff. Then my gaming computer died and I had to cobble together my art comp and gaming comp so I can game again. Last straw for PC's, will be getting a Mini either this month or next, when/if they refresh.

I'm waiting for a mac mini refresh. I plan to do video editing on AVID Media Composer on it, so I plan to get the Server version for the faster hard drive, Mainly I need a better processor. The current Intel 2 Duo is the minimum required for AVID MC, so I want to beef it up some, Preferably an intel i7, or i5, i3, The rest of the stats other than the processor the other stats look good.

I want a macbook and already have a iMac, so the laptop is gonna be for studies and carrying around..

I do a little PS, and probably gonna need some iMovie work for my studies. I'm not playing games temporary, so that isn't relevant. I'm gonna keep the 'book for about three years of studies and other things. I'm going to place SSD in my pro, if i choose that, but im afraid about heatproblems. Does SSD solve those? Would Air be better for me? Please answer

Just to give you some tech insight, flash and SSD, 100% the same. What you call flash is those "sticks" that look like RAM, and the facts are, those "sticks" are inside the case of the SSD's. So unless it's a slower "SSD" it's the same speeds in the MBP's. It's a shame they didn't do the flash storage in the MBP's because it could've been way thinner that way, but I guess they want to seperate the different Macbooks.

@Thillonoz for the record - I didn't say flash and SSD were different. So not sure what your on about. The only reason why I mention the flash storage is because it was something which they (apple) bigged up at the Back to Mac event... so it only made sense that they would implement it across the line up.

I am somewhat waiting for the Mac Mini. I was raised on windows computers, but as I am soon to be going to college for digital art (and eventually into game design); It seems prudent to switch to mac. I am satisfied with the video card on the current mac mini, and I can upgrade the RAM myself. What worries me is the processor. Is the 2.4 Intel duo sufficient? You seem to know your stuff, let me know what you think. Should I think about the current version or camp it out for a refresh? Thanks!

I'm still disappointed by the graphics on the 2011 MBP. They should have upped the stock vram to 512MB at the VERY LEAST. It's 2011 and this is a pro machine. I am considering buying this one, however, just for Thunderbolt.

Now the new MBP's are out would you still go for a MBA maxed out in favour of a 13" MBP? Like you I was hoping for a 15" Air. Although the new machines are a welcome refresh I wont be arting with my hard earned cash due to the fact of the requirement to upgrade the screen and HDD. Ironic that the integrated graphics for the 13 inch seems slower than the nvidia gt 320, at least for some games. But the rest is fast enough for the OSX frameworks such as OpenCL, etc.

Will someone do a benchmark for the amd graphics cards for games? :D

@andyws11008 As amazing as he is, they've built such a brilliant team of experts that I'm more than certain someone else will take up his mantel if and when he leaves and we'll still see the brilliant industrial design we get right now. Who knows, it could be even better. I'm sure he's had and has many "apprentices" under his supervision. Remember, Apple is a big team effort, they always make a point about that when they can.

Ended up keeping my 2010 13 inch pro, but I added an ssd inside. Will be keeping it until the macbook air refresh in the fall, and will hopefully upgrade if they update to better processors, or at least put 4 gigs of ram standard in the 13 inch.

Got a new Macbook Pro 13" i7 and it is amazing. Upgraded from a late 2007 MBP and quite frankly it is the best $2000 i have spent so far. Love it.

Just got the base 13 inch Macbook pro i5 and I have to say that it's an awesome machine. It's way faster than the previous one with the Intel Core 2 Duo and I'm actually impressed with the Intel HD 3000 graphics which is much better than the one from the previous 15 inch i5 with the regular Intel HD graphics.

@johnyd1231 At the present time, I don't think that machine gives the best "bang for your buck" - for a similar price and better options, maybe you could look for the previous generation MacBook Pros (if they're still in stock) which are on clearance after the release of the new ones. The MacBook Air is also an option - it's beast (I've used my friend's, and am slightly jealous... :D)

@zMacintoshz doubt iOS 5 will be released prior to iPhone 5, as he said in the video, you tend to find that major iOS updates come when iPhone revisions are done.

SD slot would be good, I doubt that's going to happen though. :(
