Why use hydrogen? I know it has a lighter atom then helium so they saved money by using less gas to lift it. But helium is not flammable so it won't explode.
~Having always felt the Hindenburg dirigible was likely the victim of jewZionist 9/11 like sabotage, i found mr.Greg Feith's 22:55 extensive investigative-analysis quite compelling if convincing; --although i'me still left with one nagging issue, ---that of the reported shudder like explosion just prior to the fire. Why was this glaring critical issue seemingly left unaddressed, --could this be a cover-up? -after all, Nat.Geographic lacks the credibility it enjoyed before taken-over by Jews.!!!
@ElephantRage the dog was hungry and bit through the bags causing the hydrogen leak. He climbed upward and therefore his sharp pawls puncher the bag. Then his whipping tail caused the charge creating the spark. Hows that?
@LittleFrenchy72 Hydrogen is lighter than helium, they didn't weigh the risk of a fire they way they should have. they just figured the lightest gas should be used regardless of the flammability.
@PDExplorer193 Are you sure that was the reason? I remember reading something about an embargo which prevented them from buying helium from the major suppliers. Something also to do with Hitler and Nazi Germany. I don't remember exactly however. It was in a German docu.
@PDExplorer193 I saw on some programme and have read that it was designed to use helium but it wasn't available because the US increased the price for political reasons so as to make it uneconomic.
@PDExplorer193 Also helium 'leached' out of the envelopes a lot slower because it's atoms are twice the size. So less compressed gas tanks were needed to replace it's loss en-route = less weight.
I don't think the Germans realized it at the time but the dope put on the skin of the zeppelin was in fact almost the exact same chemical composition as the fuel put in the solid rocket of the space shuttle
@roquefortfiles Almost, but not quite..otherwise you could argue water is the same as peroxide..obviously they are not. water gives you life, drink peroxide on the other hand..wil eat your stomach lining and give you a painful, grizzly death. Thermite, which is a similar compund, would have made the Hindenburg too heavy to fly.
@paqman67 I am not talking thermite. I am talking about the chemical dope. Chemically speaking it is almost the exact same composition as the solid rocket fuel put in the space shuttle.
Its not my opinion either. A fellow by the name of Addison Baines researched it. The hydrogen was secondary in the fire. In fact it burns invisibly. The chemical dope was the catalyst in the inferno. How it started is one thing. But the dope is the reason it took off. highly flammable.
@zeppship Addison Baines got hold of some original skin material from the LZ 129. He ran a current through it and it ignited and it practically vaporized.
@roquefortfiles If i could see that happening for myself (e.g. seeing what you just said here on youtube) then i, along with many other fans of the hindenburg disaster, would believe you.
Imagine the airships future if pruss had done the same as eckerner did with the los angeles in 1924. Continuley change his course to keep the ship away from headwinds. That way he could arrive on time and avert disaster
I can't believe that a snapped wire put a hole in one of the gas bags and a spark jumping from that gas bag to the skin, causing the Hindenburg to explode in flames.
36 people perished, including 13 passengers, 22 crewmembers, and 1 ground crew.
Luckily, 62 of the 97 survived, including 23 passengers and 39 crewmembers who lived.
@ftegger4347899 Excuse me ! Historical facts aren't pointless things. I was merely correcting your error and I wasn't even being crude or impolite about it. So why is your reaction so neanderthal ? And no, there is a HUGE difference between " SOME " and " MOST ". Do you honestly believe that there isn't ?
If you fell off the catwalk inside the Hindenburg would you plunge through the canvas walls to your death.

@twistedyogert Prior to the Hitler invading France the US government made no public objections to the Nazi party or Hitler

the skin because it didnt burn quickly enough
the hydrogen because the fire was visable and hydrogen burning isnt
