That bridge riff is seriously one of the greatest of all time. To this day, I judge rhythm guitar players based on whether or not they can play that cleanly.
Seriously, just b4 Hum hit it big, I hung with my galpal Martha on a side street in Champaign, IL and they practiced in their rented house. We could hear this song and others. Martha would say, "Hum. You heard of 'em?", a rhyme like that. I'd say, "No." She'd say, "You will. You will." She was dead right. Within a year, this song dropped like a water bomb! Thanks, Hum.
its weird but the best thing for me is seeing the ol boy with the white tshirt on with the balding head jamming out, reminds me of me now when i go to shows...goddamn 90's, where have you gone
I guess I never realized how much impact this song/band had on many people. I remember when it first came out, I loved it, but at that time people were more into nine inch nails Marilyn Manson smashing pumpkins etc, but I always knew there was something special about his song.
Dear friends, what happened to the alternative rock bands of the 21st century? Did they get real depressed and lost motivation after Kurt Cobain died and after other problems?, because i think that the alternative grunge rock bands of the 21st century is not so good any more, the lyrics are dumber and less philosophical. thanxxx
fuckin geeks standing there with their arms folded. what a farce! this song owns ALL and has influenced drones of bands directly and indirectly. I wish I was there!!! thanks for posting HUM RULES!! THIS BAND IS MORE BAD-ASS THAN MOST METAL BANDS EVER. FUCK YEAH!! ROCK
@spleenlessdave unfortunately, i can't fucking explain how ripshit i am at the fucking crowd. Is this what the world has come to? A bunch of kiss ass retards that aren't "allowed" to express themselves. That's all music was. it WAS expression. Now it's all about image. These guys that are on the stage, in this video, they didn't have an image, they fucking put images in everybody elses minds with they're amazing music. They put the movement in my body when i'm fucking walking down the road.
@zmoe255 You are right, the alternative grunge and rock bands of the 1990s used jeans and t-shirts. Now they got these Lady Gaga and all these MTV reality boys like Justin Beiber.
Silversun pickups shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as HUM. Those mainstream Chick/rock fag bands are everything thats wrong with music these days just like the horse shit muse and kings of Leon. Just go turn about any radio station on if u wanna listen to that bull crap but don't bring it here....
@ColdCrusade14 Holy crap! You're right! He's chair of the Music Industry Studies Department there. Go to their website: Academics > College of Fine Arts > School of Music > Music Industry Studies. Man, it's crazy how the world keeps turning and people move on.
@spleenlessdave Just what I thougt, but actually Silversun Pickups, hehe, picked up a lot of that that 90s distorted rock sound, not only of Pumpkins. Anyway, HUM was kinda unique in this and the first ones to make a perfect copy of that guitar sound have been Deftones with many others to follow.
I loved this concert!!!! I was in the front row with my son and Bryans(hums Drummer) son and daughter.Bryan was very cool with everyone talking and taking pictures with all who asked. its cool to see the band with their families they all seem very happy. and I was VERY happy to share their music that i love so much with mine. thanks for the post.
Still amazing after all these years.

@rnrdemon Yeah man, you really can't go wrong with Orange and Hiwatt amps and Gibson guitars. To me, Hum has the ultimate HUGE guitar sound.
