just an update: not one ear infection since she got them over 3 yrs ago. They eventually fell out with no problem and Skylar is now a very healthy happy 8 yr old.
@angel4038 no you can not because they go into your inner ear and it is a small tube and realy thin. the dr showed us it befor he took my daughter in to get hers done at a year old! she is 4 now and they have fallen out but she has not had any more ear infections except for 1 and that was because it was swimmers ear!
when some children or youung adults (maybe adults) get fluid (green sticky fluid) behind the eardrums the doctors make a small incission and put a small tube thing behind ur eardrum. and after the surgery for about 3 times a day for about 2 weeks u have to put eardrops in the ear so it brings the fluid down and u have the tubes in ur ears for about a year and a half (18 months)
@TammyToe my 4 year old daughter had tubes in her ears at 1 years old because she was getting constant ear infections, she had 8 doubles and 6 single ear infections befor the tubs and after the tubes she had 0 ear infections. so Tubes are necessary for some children. the Dr had told us that she would need them and we where all for it for her hearing to not be damaged like my sisters who never had Tubes and had as many ear infections as my daughter did.
i had them put in and my adnoids and tonsils out and the same time
