  • Cant believe I forgot all about Derek (WTF PETER? THEY HAD FAKE NAMES?) for the past 32 years SIGH. I lived to watch him. He and Apolo were my first crushes. The hair rocked. P.S. Where is he now?

  • do you know when they used the piano version, circa 1986?

  • sucks to be an out of work actor in 1980...

  • cool she was on young and rthe restless

  • OmG!!! I'dve given ANYTHING to have one of these dolls as a little girl!!! I'm SOOO happy to watch ALL of these episodes again!!

  • Fashion was horrible then. lol

  • I never realized that Tonya Williams plays Olivia on the Young and the Restless!

  • lol those liberals are so high playing with dolls

  • The blond guy looks a bit like the wrestler billy gun hahaha

  • I tAKE THAT back he looks like the blond dude in dukes of hazard

  • Tonya Williams went on to play Olivia on Young and the Restless. She was beautiful!!

  • anyone remember minew the french cat

  • ...anyone realize that they look stoned when singing some of the songs??? lol, now that i'm older, it seems funnier to watch.

  • lol at him almost fucking up the lyrics at 0:28

  • I agree the shows back then were great for kids as time went on I noticed the shows changing to more graphic views than good. My favorites were this one and Today's Special as well as PinWheel if anyone remembers is.

I wouldn't mind getting the seasons to all of these, after all they are classic kid shows. I miss being a kid.

  • No! They're throwing them! Oh the puppetry!!!

  • The male host was hot. I'd do him.

  • That chic was incredibly sexy too, Id be on her like white on brown rice.

  • You have to wonder, with the rotating partners on the show was there rotating partners outside the show...am i right people?

  • I grew up in Wisconsin, and I guess we got a strong Canadian influence....this show was popular, as was Readalong (with Boot and Shoe). My brother and I loved these shows. :)

  • you ment pretty thats the other name not shoe

  • I've had this song in my head for years and years now, it's haunted me. Thanks for posting it!!

  • LOL I saw this live at Meadowvale Town Centre when I was 3! I remember I was so blown away to see the toys and Polkaroo in person...oh yeah, and the clock with the mouse underneath it too!

  • story time mouse was my FAVE! lol Kids shows were SO much better when we were younger. This and Today's Special totally rocked TVO. TVO now looks like it for kids on crack lol

  • I know what you mean! This may have been a low-budget show but at least it was good quality. If you compare the kids shows from back then to the ones now, it seems like they actually cared more about the target audience back then.

By the way: Today's Special was one of my favorites too and my grandmother used to work in the store where it was filmed! I remember my mom telling me that and I thought it was the greatest thing in the world!

  • Hah, mann, so true. Its just a light n special effects thing, with whack writing. And man, gives me the creeps if I ever run into one on tv.

Even the ending had that extra care and special touch, where it had this mystic and kept you wanting to come back (ie. you would feel and think of good things!)

  • damn i totally forgot about the stuffed animals!

  • holy crap i never knew the show as THIS old!

i watched it when i was like 5... and they didn't dress like this lmfao

  • it started in the late sixties.

  • TVOntario didn't start until 1972 so I think it was later than that....

  • Oh I see, thanks.

It is amazing that it still leaves quite an impression after so many years.

  • why the hell were the colors of brown and darker colors used back then? Talk about a lack of fashion.

  • @maltodextrin1000 The set did get a makeover in the mid 1980's. I was young enough to remember the change. The walls went from brown with yellow and blue dots to white with red and orange dots.

  • Yeah, I was just gonna say...didn't they shove em back in they're damn toy box at the end? It's kinda like teaching kids not to have toys lying around, cuz it'll create a mess.

  • no your right

  • there was a different goodbye song! it went:

    goodbye marigold

    goodbye humptey

    goodbye beaaarrr

    goodbye dumptey

we'll see you all, another day, when we can laugh and sing and play. and so we sing, our goodbye song, we'll see you soon it won't be long :):)

    then they goodbye,

and then one of them says 'a bientot - see you soon! '

or is it just me? :P

  • cool show...but an unfortunate last name for Peter

  • the kids shows now a days has nothing on this. they don't the the polka door and mr.dress and The Mighty Hercules. Those were great shows

  • youtube is keeping the 80s alive......i love it!

  • the toys might be on a shelf in a museum or in a room. i remember waking up at 7 am in 2003 just to tape it, i taped 2 shows. i loved this show along with dog city, pokemon, dragonball z, sharky and george etc. good job, add more. this version is different from the later version. but cool.

  • HA!!! olivia from young and the restless MAN THESE WERE THE DAYS EVEN THOUGH THIS IS B4 MY TIME LOL BUT I GREW UP WATCHING THIS TVO WAS THE SHIZZLE I'M 19 NOW BUT DAMN DO I MISS THESE SHOWS

  • That program was a nightmare! The production was so cable access in quality!

  • fuck you, it was the shit!

  • I don't remember there being so many hosts on the show? Does anyone know how long each person got to host for?

  • I wonder what happened to the toys..

  • who would have known the Polka Dot Door would have launched people into their major careers?! lol. I remember watching this all the time as a kid! loved it!

  • Seeing this makes me feel old.

  • Wild -- the woman is Olivia from "Young and the Restless"!

  • Gloria Rueben got her start on here as well.

  • Yup. She also was on a dance show called Boogie, which showed as reruns clips a few years ago as Retro Boogie Dance Party. My parents said we lived in the same apartment building as her in North York, but I don't remember.

  • Oy vey! I've not seen these in ages!
