Cant believe I forgot all about Derek (WTF PETER? THEY HAD FAKE NAMES?) for the past 32 years SIGH. I lived to watch him. He and Apolo were my first crushes. The hair rocked. P.S. Where is he now?
I agree the shows back then were great for kids as time went on I noticed the shows changing to more graphic views than good. My favorites were this one and Today's Special as well as PinWheel if anyone remembers is.
I wouldn't mind getting the seasons to all of these, after all they are classic kid shows. I miss being a kid.
I grew up in Wisconsin, and I guess we got a strong Canadian influence....this show was popular, as was Readalong (with Boot and Shoe). My brother and I loved these shows. :)
LOL I saw this live at Meadowvale Town Centre when I was 3! I remember I was so blown away to see the toys and Polkaroo in person...oh yeah, and the clock with the mouse underneath it too!
story time mouse was my FAVE! lol Kids shows were SO much better when we were younger. This and Today's Special totally rocked TVO. TVO now looks like it for kids on crack lol
I know what you mean! This may have been a low-budget show but at least it was good quality. If you compare the kids shows from back then to the ones now, it seems like they actually cared more about the target audience back then.
By the way: Today's Special was one of my favorites too and my grandmother used to work in the store where it was filmed! I remember my mom telling me that and I thought it was the greatest thing in the world!
Hah, mann, so true. Its just a light n special effects thing, with whack writing. And man, gives me the creeps if I ever run into one on tv.
Even the ending had that extra care and special touch, where it had this mystic and kept you wanting to come back (ie. you would feel and think of good things!)
@maltodextrin1000 The set did get a makeover in the mid 1980's. I was young enough to remember the change. The walls went from brown with yellow and blue dots to white with red and orange dots.
Yeah, I was just gonna say...didn't they shove em back in they're damn toy box at the end? It's kinda like teaching kids not to have toys lying around, cuz it'll create a mess.
the toys might be on a shelf in a museum or in a room. i remember waking up at 7 am in 2003 just to tape it, i taped 2 shows. i loved this show along with dog city, pokemon, dragonball z, sharky and george etc. good job, add more. this version is different from the later version. but cool.
HA!!! olivia from young and the restless MAN THESE WERE THE DAYS EVEN THOUGH THIS IS B4 MY TIME LOL BUT I GREW UP WATCHING THIS TVO WAS THE SHIZZLE I'M 19 NOW BUT DAMN DO I MISS THESE SHOWS
who would have known the Polka Dot Door would have launched people into their major careers?! lol. I remember watching this all the time as a kid! loved it!
Yup. She also was on a dance show called Boogie, which showed as reruns clips a few years ago as Retro Boogie Dance Party. My parents said we lived in the same apartment building as her in North York, but I don't remember.

why the hell were the colors of brown and darker colors used back then? Talk about a lack of fashion.
