  • Although very few people I've chatted with have become vegan as a direct result of my conversation with them about veganism, they do generally agree that causing unnecessary suffering is wrong.

  • In my experience, most people in the UK think 'fur is wrong because an animal has to die' but they're bemused by the fact I don't wear wool either because they believe 'sheep don't have to die to produce wool'.

  • So true, glad that I found this intreview.

  • I'm not so sure that the professor is going far enough in saying that we need only stop consuming animal products. we must also develop some adequate form of reparations for those animals who were forced into a multi-millennia diaspora. I propose 40 acres and a human. ;) how you like that one, prof? I know you're in this for the naiive liberal girls. You dog!

  • Well, I never fully agreed with Francione's opinions until now, but they guy's obviously completely logical. He's not a genius, he's just speaking common sense. That being said, I can't agree with him that PETA haven't done good for the animal rights movement. If it wasn't for PETA, people wouldn't even KNOW there's an animal rights movement. You can bicker about the confusion they cause, but they push veganism and they push the idea of "complete animal liberation."
