WOW!! Forgot about this post. Now 2 years later , I did go with the RF and I am really happy with it. I had many opportunities to move on to another bike , like the ZZR and the Busa. But I kept my $2200 RF. I ran it to hell and back (daily commuter) . Lost both bottom fairings running it so hard. I forgot I needed to check those mounting screws. I put over 20k in those 2 years. It is heavy, solid and once you bring the revs up, it's good-bye traffic. Dropped it a couple times doing PLP.
Um, first off, 260 = 161 mph. So only 15 mph faster. And they go even faster then that. I have already pushed mine to 181 on the same trip (291 standard) but its hard to get film from that setup.
I am torn between a 2006 Katana 750 rebuilt ( replaced front forks) with 800 miles for $3500, and a 1995 RF900 clean 19000 miles $2500...any suggestion?
Folk's lets all agree she's pretty. One of mine has the 1070cc big bore kit amoung other upgrades.I've changed chain to 530,played with sprockits sizes. Wish me luck at the 1/4 mile track. Contact me if you need specific data and dyno proven power.
had 170 coming back from nurburgring on mine and now does 165 with one tooth less on the front sprocket..but its worth it as the bike has much more punch on lower gearing and can live with newer bikes on the track
I've been past 180 on mine. kn Air, custom Exhaust, larger jets, and being a retard. Kinda lucky I didnt die considering tire went out a week later and I droped it at 75. I am almost done with the custom paint that i have been wanting to do. I can walk again. Ride till you die. I love it too much to stay away. I think motorcycles are our crack.
Overall, for its day and age, its still a pretty quick bike. I have almost 64k miles on mine, no 2nd gear tho. Iv taken on many mustangs and corvettes. Only had 1 corvette keep up from 60-163ish, but he was topped out like i was, explains why he kept up....... After about the 4th run on the highway, I saw him pulling off the road with smoke coming from underneath that brand new Z06, I wonder what his pretty girlfriend in the passenger seat was thinkin lol.
R&D from Clearwater Florida has street undercut several gearboxes for my RF's.I've never had to send them back.My 97' has 65k on the clock and she had the 1070cc big bore kit. What can I say.... WOW
169 mph Not Bad at all, with some inexpensive upgrades you to can outrun the police helicopters! Sorry I'm a little bitter just got pinched! 123 mph in a 65 by photo radar on the 101. :(
ya, Iv ran mine up to 163 before on my RF900, could of gone just alittle more, but it was at night and i saw the back of a car coming up fast, so I shut her down.

Killerbike.. will kill the blade from that yeartype at ease. Today's world every 600cc and maybe even a 750 with a bad rider on it wil be bad meat.

F-the tuna. If you confirm the RF's clean and don't forget to check the inherent 2nd gear slip under load, buy it or I will.

that bike will go faster than that mine does

Oh it absolutely does, the problem was the camera mount, not the bike or me. I took 1/2 decent shot over death with good shot.

Faster!

My camera mount system isn't the best, took to much focus on camera to really max it out.
