  • can you do ultra and record and still get good fps cuz if not im not gonna get the MBP

  • but world of worcraft graphic sucks so much. you need to test it on something like starcraft 2.

  • when you did get World of warcraft for mac? or u are using Bootcamp?

  • @FlameSkull94 it's compatible on both systems.

  • @nutbagticles Thanks.

  • Did u game on a external monitor?

  • does your youtube name stand for make kool not good rap music

  • low frame rate also has to do with u screen recording

  • this was before the new 2nd gen of intel processors and the new amd graphics i wonder what it would look like now

  • looks like your MBP has only 4 gigs of ram. That is evident in the skipping as your brought more of the environment within drawing distance.

MMO's in general are RAM intensive and benefit greatly from extra RAM.

  • Hi! I'm planning to buy a new computer, and I was hesitating between both 15 inches MBP's. You have the better one with 1GB of GDDR5, but do you believe the one with only 256 MB of GDDR5 would suffice to play World of Warcraft Cataclysm on it? I mean, do you think it will be very good (as in no lags at ALL) in battlegrounds if I put my setting to fair/good and have no recording on? Basically, I'm just asking if I actually really need to spend 400 euros more just to play Wow with no lags, thanks!

  • QUESTION !!!

-my laptop gets to around 70 degrees when im playing WoW .... is tht too high

-whats the limit temprature ( at which i must stop playing )

-what should i do to keep it cool? i use lubbos fan control and fan platform.

    PLEASE RESPOND THANK YOU !!!!

  • what did you use to rec screen?

  • @GxETAKSx ScreenFlow

  • Do they make a specific type of macbook pro for high quality gaming like world of warcraft? cause i'm really wanting to upgrade from my laggy pc!

  • Its really laggy :/ altso laggy on my old model but only in the citys

  • thank you someone showing what ita like in a faction capital instead of a starting zone my nans toaster can run a starter zone i dont need to know how it runs there

  • Bro I got a MacBook from 2009, the one rite below the MacBook pro.. 15" and 2.0, I've played wow on it for the past few years but now I'm gettin lag like unreal.. At first I thought it was my connection but even with low/fair settings I can't even go into a bg without freezing in place.. Wat u think I should do?

  • im going to get the 15 inch but the 2.0 ghz one..do you think it will also run wow on high settings with no problems as well? and also what screen recorder did you use? thanks :)

  • whats ur goblin class please answer and is this the orginal world of warcraft or ur playing on a private server ?

  • can you play with your graphics on ultra without lag?

  • @spartan11777no :If you turn your shadow effects to low it should work fine but also depends on your broadband hope i helped

  • men i make rigth buy i waS LOOKING FOR A GOOD COMPUTER LAST WEEK AND I WAS NOT SURE MAC OR ASUS G74 AND I CHOISE ASUS AND I PLAY IN HIGT EVERY THING AND IS WORK SO I AM HAPPY TO SEE YOUR VIDEO

  • @chupetanegra The MBP plays WoW at high everything as well. The numbers were low because I had a screen recorder going.

  • @mkngrm Hey man... I want to buy the new 2011 Macbook Pro 15 with 8gb RAM, See i would only use for stuff at my job (sendind documents, makings documents on excel and powerpoint, agenda, calender) To play, any type of games, like real heavy, HD games, or more regular ones... To download music, videos and movies.. Im starting to do mashups and digital sampling... Do you think i should buy something as expensive as the MAC or should I settle for a DELL XPSz..

  • @mkngrm If it wouldn't be too much trouble could you test what frames you get with these settings:

Everything medium, but particle density on high and shadows on fair (or even low)

8x anistrophic filtering (or however it's spelled)

    and 1440x900 res

Then again with the res set to 1280x800 ...obviously without a screen recorder running =P if you do that I would really appreciate it! Thanks in advance [:

  • @KeKeKeilan I don't have WoW installed on that machine anymore, sorry.

  • @chupetanegra can you still carry it around fine? like the macbook?

  • this helps me alot because i been having alot of trouble chosing through laptops but now i know wat to get umm how do u raise your fps?

  • my 13 inch macbook pro plays wow way smoother and looks a ton better.

  • @sternspartan21 That's great, now turn on a screen recorder and try that again.

  • @mkngrm lol

  • @sternspartan21 lool

  • hows your FPS in a raid?

  • @andrewl5201 Haven't done any raiding on the Macbook, but BGs stay at ~60 fps if that helps you at all.

  • @mkngrm ah, thats not bad. I'm actually gonna buy a Dell XPS though, just cause the MBP price is a little too steep for me

  • @mkngrm any chance if you can try being in Alterac Valley and then telling me how many fps you're getting in that? thanks.

  • noob, disable Vsync and your fps will improve

  • @intunericitu666 The title isn't "How to Improve FPS in WoW". It is just a display of gameplay at stock settings. I'll be sure to send you a message the next time I need protips, though.

  • @intunericitu666 or keep Vsync enabled to eliminate screen tearing, noob

  • You're so bad at playing a priest

  • @thejenks22 You're right, it is pretty hard to play when you don't cast spells. Not sure if you don't understand English or not, but I said that I didn't have my keybinds set up and I was just going to run around. Nice try, though.

  • I'm looking to replace my 2008 MBP with one of these. I have a 27" iMac so this wouldn't be my primary computer but it would need to be able to play WoW. The only thing I'm still thinking about is should I go with the 1440x900 or 1680x1050 screen. Did you get the Glossy or the Matte screen?

  • @richard1113 I got the larger resolution because I wanted the most screen real estate that I could. I went with the matte screen and will never go back to glossy.

  • are you using 4GB memory or 8GB? and if you are using 4, do you think 8 will make a big difference?

  • @JjjAaCcOoB It's 4gb, I don't think 8gb will make much of a difference. The performance is good enough as it is.

  • There is something wrong with the fps here. 30 fps on fair graphics in org is NOT normal for a 2011 macbook pro. My 2010 gets 40-55 fps on good graphics in org. If you watch another vid on youtube the person is getting 55-65 in org on ultra graphics. What went wrong?

  • @Temporaryaccount2 The screen recording software really bogs down performance. When I don't have it on, I get double the fps.

  • oh and not windowed!

  • @KeKeKeilan I've found that you get better fps rates when you run full-screen as opposed to windowed. I generally run windowed so I can alt-tab between things I have open.

  • so if im playing on like 1280x600 or whatever it is, i should be able to run on high? and how does "turbo boost" affect the performance (all this without your recording software i mean), let me know! thanks in advance

  • @KeKeKeilan Yea, 1280x600 should be fine at high settings. Generally, the lower the resolution you're running, the easier it is on the graphics card. If I can run 60fps on high at 1680x1050, you ought to try ultra settings.

I don't know how Turbo Boost effects gameplay, but I'd be willing to bet that it doesn't have much affect. Most modern games use multiple threads and Turbo Boost, if I understand it correctly, has the biggest gain in single-threaded applications.

  • Any chance you could post results for the standard 1440x900 res as well?

    Cheers

  • @Nocky321 Well without the recording software going, I was getting 60 frames on the high setting, so you should be perfectly fine at 1440x900.
