  • I watched this 'cause I wanted to know how Bruichladdich is pronounced.

  • That's one rocky beach you have there.

  • Ralfy - what do you think of the Port Charlotte? Any chance you'll review those?

  • @degmar

will probably review this next year when it's 10yo

  • did you drink and drive after the review? :P

  • Hi all, i am from New Zealand and have just tried the "Bruichladdie Rocks" This is an unpeated Islay at 46% and is a very pleasing dram, if you get the chance try one...i also have an "Octomore" which is done by Bruichladdie and this is pretty awesome also.

  • @donworth the bruichladdie octomore is a great bottle mine is version 4 what a peat hit

  • just did lid off 24hrs. more refined now. no interesting smells now.

  • @CliveGains80s

... don't leave the lid off more than a few hours or your alcohol will evaporate !

  • @ralfystuff it back on. Has the whisky broken down over the month? I can handle it on my palate now. like to thick before.

  • 1631 bottle

to raw for my palate. month later. some air outs. mellowed it for me. although did go very musty too.

1/4 teaspoon water works for me. Too intense still straight.

    Roaring Energy. Crackles. Boom!

    crisp barley sugars.

Lovely Honey nose is gone. Its turned menthol and strawberry like (?).

glass really smells of bourbon vanilla + leather.

  • Too expensive...

  • I will have to try some of this. I was given a bottle of the second edition of The Organic and I must say it's probably replaced Lagavulin 16 as my favourite dram.

  • loved the location!!

  • If the water is like that, stick to the still'd stuff.

  • Ralfy, have you tried the Bruichladdich Sixteens First Growth Series? They're 16 yo Bruichladdichs that are then matured in French oak that previously held various first growth Bordeaux Chateaus wines.

  • @ninjagod1337

... Bruichladdich's extensive range of wine influenced Malts are as varied and diverse and as I rarely enjoy a whisky tasting of wine I pass these by !

    ... ever tried a Bordeaux 1st Cru matured/finished/ACE'd in a Bruichladdich cask ?

  • @ninjagod1337 Have you the one in the Bourbon casks? I just looked at their website, look so great.

  • @Zachw2007

No, ... but I have been told it is a better version !

  • @ralfystuff Do you drink Ardbeg? They're great and hit you in the mouth like Bruichladdich does.

  • @Zachw2007

all the 'big' Islays including Caol Ila and Lagavulin rarely dissapoint !

  • man I walked in to the bottleshop the other day and there was like 5 different Bruichladdich bottles there... to confusing ((

  • @lobzdik

... the bewildering range of options with Bruichladdich does cause confusion.

It is a frequent observation by Malt-fans.

  • @lobzdik so which do you recommend? thanks ralfy

  • OMG I can't believe the amount of traffic - I got the impression from looking at the map that Islay was a peacful island hideaway

  • @chrish12345 It's actually not in Islay. But on the road to Kennacraig where one gets the ferry to Port Askaig or Port Ellen on Islay.

  • @skiersexcuse

    ... correct !

  • Just picked up a bottle and it is smack-down fabulous. nice to compare / contrast along with the video. great review ralfy!

  • Great review Ralfy. No malt score was provided- what would you score this dram?

  • ... thanks dude, ... 88/100

  • Awesome. Thanks for keeping this up and providing great info. You have officially converted me to a whisky drinker!

  • This is again excellent video, what no one really dreams to see after tasting whisky. I could not make this tasting more up to date. This gives sense of place that cant be achieved. Some time get a view of rivers too also. Thanks.

  • Hiya Ralfy,

Thanks for sharing your enthusiasm for the good stuff. I really enjoy your wee reviews. I share your high estimation of the Resurrection dram; Laddy are struggling to be taken seriously at the moment, partly due to their dreadful colour scheme and partly their over-exuberance in the market place. However, the results speak for themselves and the 2001 is a cracker. Drop by Victoria street or Princes Mall some time for a blether. All the best!

    Adam, The Whisky Shop.
