@piefive Do you not understand the scale? Katrina did do a lot of damage ok, but the US is VERY BIG, theres 50 or so states, each as big as Japan, the US can help itself, Japan AS A COUNTRY, has just been devastated, the ENTIRE infrastructue of the WHOLE CONTRY has just been nearly destroyed.
Imagine, a 30ft high wave, travelling at 100 mph, 1000 miles from end to end, sweeping over half of your country.
And before that, imagine an earthquake, so powerfull, it shakes your entire country.

Japan has the third largest economy in the world, they can fare just fine on their own. Our country should be focusing on our 12 trillion dollar deficit not a country that had 4.5 trillion in surplus. After that being said, I hope for the best for Japan and hope they recover fully.

They will handle it well. As for the Red Cross, a disfunctional, incompetent, ignorant of events organization.
