Go to Ron Paul 2012 on Taxes and see how he'll give you back your money, while cutting out the Federal Income Tax completely. The Federal Reserve Bank is a private corporation, which is making money with nothing to back it up, thus causing inflation, dollar devaluation, and Bankruptcy of our nation. You eliminate the Federal Reserve Bankrupters = Prosperity, dollar backed by Gold and Silver Standard, prosperous economy. Look up Federal Reserve BUNK on the web. There's your answer.
Google the article: "The Rise of Ron Paul-Onomics" by Anthony Mirhaydari at MSN Money. Ron Paul would abolish Obamacare and unconstitutional mandate. Provide tax credits and exemptions for all medical expenses. Exempt those with terminal illnesses from employee payroll taxes. Keep Medicare and Medicaid from being raided. Everyone eligible for HSA's (Health Savings accounts). Stop FDA and FTC from inteferring with alternative medicines. Payroll deduction for caregivers of terminally ill.
Centralized Healthcare destroys jobs, Healthcare performance and is highly regulated. When Oregon was new the Sisters of Providence started their first hospital in Oregon, not with Government Money, but with donations. The first years of their existence they couldn't take money from people for service, because people had no money, they relied on donations. Providence Hospital is still honoring that after over 100 years. Get Government out of Health Care. Rich can support Providences.
It is not Capitalism which is destroying America. It is Crony Corporatism. Obama is a Crony Corporatist, as are all the other Candidates running for President, except Ron Paul. If the dollar is weak, unemployment is up and you don't have a job. If the dollar is strong, trade is greater, and jobs are created through a stronger American Dollar. Jobs are shipped overseas because of unfair regulation, and weakened dollar. Get wise, Vote Ron Paul 2012 if you want to see an end to the nonsense.
Sounds like everyone who is complaining on this page has had some economic hard times. You can't expect Government to be your Nanny. Government is intrusive and certainly cannot be sustained on a destroyed dollar. If you want to know why you are unemployed and your dollar doesn't go very far, stop reaching to the Government for the answer. The answer is getting rid of the Federal Reserve Bankrupters, who are imploding our currency, so everyone's dollar is worth about 4 Cents. Ron Paul 2012.
Oh, why are SO many people in the U.S brainwashed by the Republicans into voting against their own best interests? Why are so many Americans so stupid?
Oh, why are SO many people in the U.S brainwashed by the Republicans into voting against their own best interests? Why are so many Americans so stupid?
Glenn Beck is such a blithering idiot, it is beyond pathetic. Not to mention loud, obnoxious, and always wrong. Sweet sense of sarcasm though, right? ...not.
Trump got rich by holding land, waiting for government improvements in infrastructure or general increase in prosperty which raises land values and then selling it, raking in massive capital gains (which are tax less than work).
He went to bed, woke up and got rich. He got rich "in his sleep" as John S. Mill said.
@WilhelmDrake I fail to see your analysis in this. I'm a lower Middle Class American like you, but if you think Donald Trump doesn't work 16 to 20 hour days, you're absolutely wrong. You think he got rich in his sleep? Obviously you know nothing about the mans schedule or how much he does to make his businesses work. He's smart about investing, but if the shoe was on the other foot, you'd do the same. Jealousy won't make you rich, but hard work will. Ron Paul 2012. The rest are jerks.
You fail to see the distinction between earned and unearned income, economic rent and labour/ business.
He got rich by buying properties with borrowed money, then waiting for the government to fund infrastructure improvements which raise the value of the land, upon which he sells reaping a windfall, not due to work, but government infrastructure spending.
We should tax economic rent, not labour and business.
Glen Beck is sane...the rest of you are insane. Yes...take from the rich and give to the poor. If you were rich, do you think you would want your money taken by the Federal Government (more than half), so unemployed drug addicts could get by and buy another batch of coke? Quit living off the dole of the Federal Government, and GET A JOB! No jobs??? Talk to the Central Bankers about it. They're responsible for the Bankrupting of America, as is the Federal Government.
@caroln1858 god you are ignorant... our tax system is 10 - 20 - 30 - 35 currently... but the top 35 percent payers always find ways to circumvent their tax payments. thats what we dont want and centralized healthcare works better than insurance coverage because there is no profit motif and only 1 - 2 % of the money they get go to admin fees rather than 10 - 12 % in insurance companies. insurance companies keep costs high and restrict people. THEY ARE THE MIDDLE MAN.
@caroln1858 Your statement is insanity. If I were rich, I'd be more than happy to get taxed. What is wrong with TRYING to help those that are less fortunate? Also, most that receive unemployment HAD a job and lost it for a specific reason that applies them for unemployment. Not wanting to help others, is greedy. NO ONE CAN HAVE MY MONEY BUT ME!! That's what we want our kids learning, NOT to help our neighbors. I grew up in poverty and STILL my family weren't on welfare or unemployment tbc
@caroln1858 Even though we applied for it. My mother was a single parent, raised 4 children, got laid off from her job, we had to struggle. My mother was not nor is she some unemployed drug addict, and most people in my neighbor (also struggling) were not drug addicts either. And the few that actually got unemployment, gave to the neighborhood. We threw birthday parties for the kids, helped each other with bills, we were a COMMUNITY. Something you obviously don't know about
@caroln1858 I would be more than happy to give more than half of my money to the government if i was a multi-millionaire! And EVEN under Clinton the richest paid less that 45 % in taxes - when was the last time ANYONE actually paid literally HALF or more of their money in taxes? DECADES ago !
Holy FUCK! Glenn Beck makes 18 million a year!? For WHAT? I don't even know how the hell he got on TV in the first place, let alone finding such a big audience!
TYT did some selective hearing, to be fair...And Glenn's statements aren't totally off the way, some people actually believe those kinds of things about the rich, I've met them, and corrected them. One Example: "Rich white people protesting outside the Abortion Clinics!" as if ONLY the rich white people are strongly against abortion. There are people(Black/white) in povished neighborhoods(experience/see struggling family/single parent homes) who are strongly against abortion as well.
I like how Beck says that Nancy doesn't see the point yet he calls the government out for "hating" rich people. Yet they're taxing rich people because they can afford the fucking taxes.
I think I've gotten to the point of pitying Glen Beck.
The American poor and middle classes spend large chunks of their income negatively impacting their livelihood and access to necessities. This is the money that supports schools that allow the people to become quality workers supporting the wealthy and spending money to put more in bourgeoisie pockets. It creates a safety net making a stable system that is safe to invest in. The wealthy reap the fruits of the proletariats' fields while doing nothing to support the infrastructure that created it.
"we're not Europe yet"...why is that a valid point? what's so bad about Europe? at least we don't have people like Beck running around screaming conspiracy at the drop of a hat. we're already one up on you
So, Mr. Beck, if I see you laying injured on the the road, should I rather ask you first if you have an insurance? And leave you there to die in case you don't?
@eintausendnamen no, it's your moral responsibillity to (without government intervention) take him to a free charity hospital(that is, if glenn beck was poor which he is not). People can do things privately without the government telling them too.
i lived in the USA for 3 years when i was very young. We left America, not because we couldnt afford it, but because you have a crazy culture of 'show us your money', which in my opinion, its crazy and disrespectful, were all humans! your ancestors, who you all admire so much came to the US with nothing, and look at your country now, the most powerful on earth. you did that together. and yet you dont want to help treat a man who cant pay for health insurance. really where did you go wrong?
We are the richest country in the world. NOBODY should be making slave wages of 8 dollars per hour; it should be 11, AT LEAST. We treat the rich here like an aristocracy by giving them 100 billion a year in corporate welfare, but when it comes to using some of that to pay for healthcare....too bad. Come on people...
JESUS SAID "I WAS THIRSTY BUT YOU DID NOT GIVE ME WATER, I WAS HUNGRY YET YOU DID NOT GIVE ME FOOD, WHAT YOU DO NOT DO FOR THE LEAST OF THEE, YOU DO NOT DO FOR ME, BE DAMNED AND CURSED TO HELL!"
JESUS HAD NO PATIENCE WITH THE AFFLUENT WHO DID NOT HELP THE POOR, "ITS EASIER FOR A CAMEL TO PASS THROUGH THE EYE OF A NEEDLE THAN FOR A RICH MAN TO ENTER THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN!"
Most of what you say i take for what it is. And i cant thumb down or demote your reply in any way apart that its based upon religion.
But if we govern people by capatalism socialism or whatever then how come heavan is a kingdom (with a king i guess) That must be the "god" or am i wrong.
@chakrachaser You're right, those evil rich people aren't creating jobs with their millions of dollars, they're just watching us all starve in the streets... right?
were not fucking europe yet where the rich pay taxes to help the poor, so they dont get to fall on total misery this is america, if you kiss ass and make fine if you dont well fuck you, die gutter you dont deserve to live, usa is the land of opportunity if u cahnt make it here then die scumbag, this is not europe were lazy poor bastards get help from rich hard working millionars
@badsign1980 Ooh, look, 2 pages and 1 hate comment. Let's see... "rich pay taxes to help the poor, so they dont get to fall on total misery" I think what you meant to say there was "Rich pay taxes to help the poor so they don't fall into misery." I don't see your point. Rich help the poor so they don't become impoverished? Okay... "if you kiss ass and make fine if you dont well fuck you, die gutter you dont deserve to live" If you don't kiss ass then you deserve to die in a gutter? What?
@badsign1980 Next you say "his is not europe were lazy poor bastards get help from rich hard working millionars." You're assuming two things that are not always, or even usually, true: The rich work and the poor are lazy. There are plenty of hard working lower class that cannot get a job because of the ridiculous government. You're also assuming that the rich don't lie and cheat to get where they are; this is simply absurd. And, consider this, I've lived in the U.S. all of my life.
@Bloodshot021 Seems my first comment got cut off. "where the rich pay taxes to help the poor, so they dont get to fall on total misery" I think what you mean by this is "Where the rich pay taxes to help the poor so they don't fall into total misery." I cannot see your point here. The rich pay taxes to prevent poverty? "if you kiss ass and make fine if you dont well fuck you, die gutter you dont deserve to live" Are you saying that if you don't kiss ass you deserver to die in a gutter? What?
The more and more I watch Glen Beck, the more I am convinced that he honestly has mental health issues. Dont let him fool you, it is the poor people purchasing services that keep people working, not the rich people. The rich are an unnecessary middle man.
@4PFrog - the poor are the consumers, the customers. The CUSTOMERS are the reason you have your jobs. The right wing mentality completely ignores this fact and glorifies the unnecesary uber rich middle man.
99.99% of people make less then 1 million dollars a year. We have done nothing but reduce taxes on these people for 60 years, while we also RAISED taxes on the bottom 99.99%.
Its time to start going back in the other direction, because our middle class is broke.
And urgh, Beck says his parents/grandparents were working class and social mobility allowed him to get where he is. And fine, that's a beautiful thing.
But if you have much more than other people, why is it so bad that you be made to contribute more?
how many of you are aware that that the top 20% of america pays 50% of ALL OF THE GOV SPENDING?? because the more taxes we have the less the future rich will ever want to be rich and that's common sense. The only reason you have no problems with taxing rich people is because you're not (i'm not rich at all still studying) if one day you inherit some money i'll bet that you'll be closer to the rich taxes target and you'll see the light but not right now later.
Hmmmm...are there any conservative commentators in the US who are anywhere near as rational and intelligent as Young Turks (lol I forgot the other guys I just looked at!)?
@Purplecatsoup30 too bad the young turks are just liberal trolls who have a field day with his clips. unlike the left, everybody on fox news actually has proof to their arguments. THEY DONT.
@cheislame Oh my gosh, you actually contend that Glen Beck has "proof" for his "argument" that he presents in this bullshit clip? Does he even have a point? What a fucking tool...just like most of the other "news casters" and "pundits" and "commentators" on FOX. And what the fuck does his final comment mean? "WE'RE NOT EUROPE YET!!"
One Q for Glenn...How does a 150$ traffic ticket affects a family of 4 with one income that is, let's say 400$/week? And another one with an income of 50.000$/week or more?
@ricardogaftoi the problem isn't about the total amount of money made and total amount taxed, the problem is that progressive tax makes the rich pay a larger percent. to make calculations simple: if a guy who makes 100$ get's taxed 10$, and another guy who makes 1000$ gets taxed 100$ I have no real problem(even though I don't agree with the income tax). however, if the guy making 1000$ gets taxed 150$ then it's wrong cause they pay a larger percent of taxes.
@Chaaarge how is it wrong if they have more to funds to help support America then so be it look at it this way say the guy making 100 is making 20k gets taxed 2k makes 18k the guy making 200k payes 20k left over with 180k who is more likely to be able to afford paying more taxes the guy who is in the povery level or the guy who can spare and extra 10k and still makes 170k is he really losing that much money over all no! but what does is help America better going toward
@cloudvszell well, I don't think there is any "ultimate" form of justice. what's fair in one persons eyes is unfair to the next person. Personally, I think that since the income tax only accounts for 30-something percent of all taxes combined, and most money are spent on ridiculous "projects" like going into iraque, the war on drugs, printing money, the bailouts etc... then what america should do is to just decrease government spending and taxation at the same time for everyone:)
@Chaaarge decreased spending is a most but that being said its also needed in other places the education system needs a huge upgrade some form of universal medicare is needed and so many other smaller projects need to be done to help the country but cutting taxes isnt going to help not until things get balanced unfortunatly right now they need to raise taxes cut spending to decrease the deficit till its gone then once a surplus is created then reduce the taxes in way to find balance
@Chaaarge another thing that is needed is to stop loop holes allowing company's to avoid paying taxes and to decrease subsidies for large companies the banks need more regulation as to not control the economy as much as they do and so many other small things the problem is no republican will ever allow any of the change needed and no democrat will dare try because there afraid of both the republicans and the people that pay them in contributions
I have to agree with Chaaarge on the statements I have read and the spirit it contains so far. I understand where Cloudvszell is coming form however it does many distortions and problems. It is a popular idea much like mainstream Christianity today, it is different from the reality and logical makes little sense. Taxes affect peoples earnings. Taxes are restrictive, in the dictionary it is described as a burden and or a strain.
you want to help people make the burden lighter or take away the burden period. SImple translation cut or elimante taxes, people will have more money to spend or to save. More money equals more freedom, more freedom equals more economic participation.
More economic participation equals more market transactions, more market transactions equal more good and services and this leads to ecomonic growth and in time if allocated properly increased standard of living. Now progressive tax is funny, why? income earners of over 250K are a smaller percent of population. Single earners of 250K even smaller.
People that earn in this bracket and higher usaully have more investments, they take more risk. Also they have to pay transaction cost usaully for each investment and are taxed on the investments, while dealing with the risk. Also they need to retain the a portion of the earnings for saving, well in truth investment for them to be continutally earning money.
Also they usaully have debt, because they have loans, so the gross sum, the net su, and the Utilitzed sum are very different for each household but on average people in the 250K range and up to the million have much debt because they afford to have debt but they must pay the interest and manage all the risk. Higher incomes do not tell the story but the debt to income ration does.
Are there people with high incomes and low debt yes, usaully those people got that why through smart moves and hard work(or their ancestor did) are there people who have that perk through fraud and crime yes but they are few. Many people do not even pay taxes. At the lower or the higher brackets. We need more spending in schools etc, then stop. bigger insitutions more money to run and mange, simple. Creating a bigger problem.
@Ryukikon the idea on lowering taxes on every one is actually a good idea but at this time its impossible and should not be looked at at all the country is in the hole close to 10 trillion dollars the first thing needed to fix that is money if the country is getting less money through taxes and then cuts the budget they arent really saving but just compensating for the loss of tax money the only time taxes should be lowered is when the budget shows a surplus where it can afford to go down
@Ryukikon as for people of 250k ya there are some that are in debt but look at this way people in the govt make close to 200k, people in banks, office buildings some doctors and so on are all making close to that range with little to no risk taken of all of the the doctorrs and some of the bankers my have huge school loans but so does everyone the difference of available money though is still huge
@Ryukikon for instance im going through college right now im looking at about a 40k debt when i get out of school if im successful at my career im looking at making between 40-80k a year where as say a tool an die operator could go through for about the same cost and come out making 60-100k a year and then there are ece who could pay up to 25k to make between 20-40k a year so the debt issue does not excuse people fro paying ore taxes when someone making 250k might have paid only 100k for
@Ryukikon so in the case of me i might make -20-+40 tool an die makes a +40-80k the ece makes a -5-+15k a year over what the paid for schooling where a doctor might come out making +100k or more so ya sure they havedebt but they can more easily pay it off hence not needing a tax break where as some one who comes out makin g less then what they paid for school is in ore need of tax breaks that being said i dont agree with taxes on everything and the rules should be changed
you pose good points but there are problems. THe bigger the government gets or the more money you put into something the more you must pay to maintain the levell of service and the cost gets bigger over time. If you cut taxes or eliminate income tax then someone will make up the slack its in the basic econ identiy formula. If you cut government then the money that government spends becomes less but does that mean less total output in society.
The logical notation and the history of the this doesn't hold to the fact that society becomes less productive and has less total output. If you shrink the size of government then government will cost less and can use the money used to run its inflated budget to pay off debt. Growth and productivity are improtant right, taxes hinder than by their purpose and definition in economics.
If you are in debt do you go more in debt to get out of debt. it doesn't make any kind of intuitive sense. If you owe 10 million to credit card company and you make 5 million a year. Do you burrrow more money from the credit agency to pay it off when its due. You are delaying the fact that you will have to pay but also a larger sum, it rolls and rolls until the crash. Bigger and bigger you set the future crash. You do not increase debt to reduce debt. Makes no sense.
I also have a problem with lumping bankers and politicians together on issues of tax. They do not pay the same tax rate as everyone period. They have special systems, but they are a minority and spending energy going after them is not effective. It does not deal with the real problems, the important and big problems its a scapegoat. My feelings on people making 250K to a mill is the same. for the same logical reasons. THe people superceeding that are few and unethical.
@Ryukikon please elaborate on p3 as im not sure exactly what part of my response you are refereeing to. as for p4 i agree its foolish to put them together as the tax system is all different but i was just trying to make a point that the people making over 200k a year is quite wide and not limited to a select few people like the higher brackets are for example those making 500k+ bracket is a select group of people with few exceptions and so on.
@Ryukikon as for a smaller govt it has its pros and cons bigger govt means more services but also more taxes, while a small govt meant little in the way of services and lower taxes whats needed is a balance between the two extremes just like anything a the way to solve the problem is to find a balance i agree the govt need to cut back or at least become more efficient to reduce wasted money
@Ryukikon but i also see that it needs to redistribute the money directions to save money the govt is spending 600billion a year on a war with no end in sight while spending i believe 60 billion on health care (i looked it up a while ago i could be wrong on the exact#) the priorities of the country need to change right now they say we care about the economy while throwing money into the toilet but now that taxes are cut any cuts tot he budget will just offset the tax breaks
@Ryukikon i honestly believe that instead of lowering the taxes they should have raised it not a lot 1-2% now i cant say i know all the taxes in the us but at that its not going to cause a huge strain on a small company or a corporation or the middle class but it would give that little extra needed with a mighty cut in wasteful spending ie from defense, added with the extra tax money would help pay off the deficit slowly but surely
@Chaaarge so with 170k a year how badly are you going to be affected by losing 10k extra hmm? the average person can live a very comfortable life with 100k but in this case you have 70k extra not to mention if you have a spouse say making 100k minus the 15k so 85k a year so a combined wealth of 255k a year and in taxes they contributed 45k so i ask again who can afford it more to help make the country better the family making 60k a year or the family making 300k???
@Chaaarge and this is with only low numbers lets get into a millionaire shall we if you make 2mill you still have 1.7mill seriously how much are you going to be affected by that extra 100k? none or how about billionaires having the equivalent of 1000millions only loses 150mill left with 850million dollars now please tell we with a straight face if that extra 50 million is going to effect them in the slightest when they are making money daily??? the answer surprise surprise is no
@jwhitt777 Was a question! I only tried to make a point, that the society that we live in is unfair. Mainly because of the monetary system we have. If you heard about Venus Project then you know what I'm talking about. We will advance as a civilization soon. From 0 type to 1type. Have a good one!
god damn it I am going to work for FOX, if I can make alot of money by just being crazy and not needing education then it is an AMERICAN DREAM FOR ME :D
It is very hard for me to have sympathy on someone like Glenn Beck when I have been unemployed for almost 2 years, and he makes more money every year than all of the generations of my family put together, since we came to the colonies in 1734. What a low life.
WAKE UP morons... he doesn't give a crap about America, he has taped into what the world has know fro years... there are a large number or Americans are thick, are too far up their own arse and believe anything that the are told.
Do yourself a favour, read "tears of a clown" and have it spelt out to you how this guy is the biggest HYPOCRITE and LIAR of all...
why dont you guys just go on big time TV and take him on head to head? as odd as it may seem, he has quite a large following on TV. you guys should go get your own news segment and go on regular TV and TELL IT LIKE IT IS!
In the US the bulk of the wealth has been in the same hands and passed down for generations. Damn right, I think millionaires need to be taxed higher than the working-class. When 2% of the population controls 98% of the wealth, that is not sustainable...it leads to third-world country conditions and eventually revolution.
And NO ONE believes nowadays in trickle down economics...the rich keep their wealth in offshore accts and if they DO create a job...it is in China or Pakistan.
American congress is full of big corporations big oil and big pharma. Thats the way they run it thats the way they want it. Most of your presidents are puppets to these corporations, same with world leaders all over.
Yeah you go Glenn Beck! tell em' how unimportant education is! I'm sure your father and grandfather had the opportunity to go to college but just didn't want to...
That's the problem with "the american dream" nowadays everybody thinks they can get rich with out working for it cause it's the american way. And Glenn Beck is the perfect example of that -- making millions by blabbing out incoherent shit. H should be ashamed of name dropping his father who probably worked his ass off to feed them.
If the people decide that healthcare is such a major crisis that everyone in the country is somehow obligated to do something about it, I don't really have an issue with that. If all Americans are legally bound to helping this crisis, the logical solution is simple: we all help equally. Taxes need to go up 1% for everyone, no matter how much you make. The problem is saying "yes all citizens need to help" but then saying "well only this one group should be forced to".
Basically, people will start voting more 'honestly' if they're not allowed to vote to spend someone else's money. It's pretty easy for someone to say "yes we need healthcare" when they're told it won't affect their tax bill next year. Would the same people hold to their opinion if they were the ones who had to help pay for it too?
@matrixfs We all help equally? That doesn't make sense. We don't have equal amounts of money.
The rich should help the poor, and the strong should help the weak, not prey on them. Your solution is like asking a paraplegic person to help Mr. Universe lift a refrigerator. "Here, you get one end..."
@Zomnificent When you get to the real world, let me know - and by the way equally means % here, so it doesn't matter who makes what. I've had crackheads try sell me $100 in food stamps for $20 to buy drugs. My fiance's friend nearly got raped a few weeks ago. I had some 'poor' people in my apartment stealing the birthday presents my family got me. And you want me to give up more and more money to help 'fix' these people? They're NEVER going to change.
@matrixfs It does matter who makes what, because it means a lot more for a very poor person to give up, say, 10% of their income in taxes, than it does for a very rich person. The poor person is left much worse off, and is much closer to having no money. Why should they be forced to pay the same rate as a millionaire? It's completely unfair. They can't afford it.
Crack is an addiction that requires treatment. Not all poor people are crackheads, either. Not even most of them are.
Anyone can be a rapist, including rich people. How do you know anything about the rapist? You're also way more likely to get raped by someone you know.
Why'd you put poor in quotation marks on that last anecdote?
And anecdotes is what they are. They don't prove your grand political point - that all poor people are immoral criminals.
It's nothing more than a stereotype, and it's the same thing a racist does. You have a preconceived notion, and everything that confirms that notion you trumpet as evidence. Everything that disconfirms it, you ignore. I could get the same argument from a chain email.
Are you a millionaire? If so, then yes, I want you to give up "more and more money," because you can afford it, and I'm sick of your whining. But I'm not very concerned about you...you sound like a selfish asshole and a bigot.
We have a serious problem with poverty, and poverty leads to several other problems. We need to fix it, and to fix it, it will take a massive investment of money into our society. Thankfully, there is an over-privileged class of people that own 85% of all the wealth in our society, and they make up a very small portion of the population. And their tax rates have been going down since the 80's, from around 80% to 35%.
@Zomnificent Your big plan isn't going to work, people are never going to be equal, and people are never going to like each other, even if they law says they have to.
Since you're living in fantasy land, here's whats going to happen in the real world. Obama is going to 'stand strong' on the taxes right up to the deadline. But did you notice the house voted down the unemployment benefit extension? If it's not obvious, this is clearly a warning - "don't bite the hand that feeds you."
@Zomnificent Over-privileged by whose judgement? If you think someone stole money, sue them - we already have laws for that. Being rich while following the law, by definition isn't illegal. Or are you proposing a new civil court route to prosecuting people who are being 'hated on' until they're fined into poverty and the angry mob finds a new target?
@Zomnificent The guy who nearly raped her took her credit card and spent $17 on it at to buy perfume TJ Max or KMart. I'm pretty sure that confirms the poverty thing. Some thug buying his girlfriend a gift by beating up the white girls he thinks will be carrying the most cash.
And I put "poor" in quotes because they're not really poor. They are clothed, fed, and have a home, but they want the fancy stuff they see on TV. The burglar was white. I held him at gunpoint until cops arrested.
@matrixfs With the unemployment benefits extension, they decided not to vote on it in the House because Republicans won't cooperate and don't give a fuck about unemployed Americans in the middle of a recession. In order to pass it in the Senate, they need to get three Republicans to vote for it. Not fucking likely.
That's the Republican Christmas present to all the struggling families of America - throwing them out on the street or cutting off their heat.
Republicans don't want the economy to recover before 2012, because the worse the economy is, the better they do against Obama. That's all they care about now. They don't care what happens to the country, as long as Obama doesn't get re-elected.
The rest of my response will be sent in a private message. I just hate the 500 character limit.
@Zomnificent Thanks for your comment..agreed. Many in my family out of work now and the worry is taking its toll. Merry Christmas from the GObP...Ebenezer Scrooge is their hero.
His last point: "We're not Europe yet, YET" What?? Here in Norway, as most european countries we have free healthcare, education and decent social welfare, yet we have quite a few billionaires. Is this his version of hell?
No. Europe has it right. Norway is one of the best countries in the world because of what you just said. You can include Sweden and Canada in there too. Glenn Beck represents the average American voter - easily influenced and not very intelligent.
@thenorwegian76 Norwegian76, I am sorry you have seen the uneducated baboon that is known as Glenn Beck. I swear by my name that all Americans are not this stupid.
@Chaaarge Of course it's not "free". We pay our fair share in taxes for the benifit of all. And since healthcare is run by the government, we don't lose our money to insurance companies.
@thenorwegian76 but government run healthcare and education isn't for the benefit of all in the same way that a government run military and police is(because those are the organizations that protect our rights). What's your justification for government run healthcare and education, as opposed to government run restaurants, car companies, pubs, computer companies etc... the truth is that under your system, the richer end up paying for the poor, which is not fair in my opinion.
@JessicaSideways I'm just confused by the point Beck is trying to make. Are the liberals trying to destroy the rich or are liberals the rich. Not when he starts blathering about the liberal "elite" he starts using a stereotypical rich impression. His talent for circular logic is...something.
Glenn Beck is the ONLY man being misunderstood for ALL the facts that HE's been accumulating to SAVE AMERICA... IF ONLY re1 has the SENSE to stop & really listens & watch his programs STEP BY STEP, be a CAREFULL & ATTENTIVE listener to ALL those important FACTS! Stops condemning HIM!! GOD knows BEST!..
I think Glenn Beck is missing the point. Rich people have always been taxed, obviously we're not going to 'tax them all of their money'. And what would be the point of increasing the tax on the middle class or poor? You're not going to get anymore money from us. We don't have 'all the money'.
What has Beck done for society, has he created any good technology or products like Ford or Edison? All he has done is make tons of money jerking off a bunch of morons with schlocky media. Yet he & his pals whine about all the Hollywood people, at least they don't pretend to be journalists! Wait, now he's pretending to be a spiritual & civil rights leader, channeling Lincoln & King. I would rather give people who create useful stuff a break then tax useless exploiters like him to the max.
Glenn beck is right, although hes being an idiot on purpose so that no one listens to him because hes been payed by fox or the government to scare people away from the truth.
This spiritual warfare nonsense is so childish, he is mixing crackpot religion with children's fairy tales. "Forces of Dark" is such crap. The real shame is that so many people take doughboy seriously
I am certainly no wealthy person, so I have no dog in this fight, but I hate the class warfare thing. To tax the "rich" at any rate above the rate everyone else pays is morally wrong. The "Turk" lies when when he talks about it being "one or two percent" higher tax. The highest federal income tax rate in 1980 under Jimmy Carter was 70%. The only fair tax is a flat tax.
@phatgeezer1955 Class warfare, like Soviet Union. actually in the 1950s under Ike the top was almost 90%. But the rich all have tax lawyers & accountants
@EsClayWilson Under a flat tax system, the tax lawyers are irrelevant. When you lower the tax rate, people are actually more compliant--paying the tax becomes more attractive than paying the lawyer. The top rate ever was 94% under FDR. If I was a rich guy, why would I build a new factory and pull in an additional $1,000,000 a year when I'd have to give $900,000 of it to the government? Better to have more time off than to be a government serf. So jobs not created--little guy hurt.
-- progressive taxes are Marxism and have no place in a free society,
-- they punish achievement
-- they cost jobs for all of us by draining off capital from the economy into the government sinkhole
The original idea of the personal exemption was that "subsistence" income was not to be taxed. Let's set the exemption at a bare subsistence level again and tax everything above that at a flat 15%. That's all govt gets to take.
@phatgeezer1955 Progressive taxes aren't Marxist, I am sick of all these braindead right wingers who are so simple minded they call everyone else a Commie. Also, the government does create some jobs as well as provide transportation systems and other infrastructures that businesses need, like water, power, sewer, police, fire protection etc. You also confuse making a lot of money with some sort of moral purity, when in reality it's quite the opposite.
@EsClayWilson The Communist Manifesto, Chapter 2: "...in most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable... 2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax."
There are certain policies that are part of Marxism that some in the US have advocated. It doesn't make the advocate a Marxist, just misguided. Some people, however, are Marxist by declaration: Van Jones, Ayers Dohrn, BHO's parents, Frank Marshall Davis, etc. I reserve the right to refer to them as such.

Rich can support Providences.
caroln1858 3 days ago
It is not Capitalism which is destroying America. It is Crony Corporatism. Obama is a Crony Corporatist, as are all the other Candidates running for President, except Ron Paul. If the dollar is weak, unemployment is up and you don't have a job. If the dollar is strong, trade is greater, and jobs are created through a stronger American Dollar. Jobs are shipped overseas because of unfair regulation, and weakened dollar. Get wise, Vote Ron Paul 2012 if you want to see an end to the nonsense.
caroln1858 3 days ago
Sounds like everyone who is complaining on this page has had some economic hard times. You can't expect Government to be your Nanny. Government is intrusive and certainly cannot be sustained on a destroyed dollar. If you want to know why you are unemployed and your dollar doesn't go very far, stop reaching to the Government for the answer. The answer is getting rid of the Federal Reserve Bankrupters, who are imploding our currency, so everyone's dollar is worth about 4 Cents. Ron Paul 2012.

Trump got rich by holding land, waiting for government improvements in infrastructure or general increase in prosperty which raises land values and then selling it, raking in massive capital gains (which are tax less than work).
He went to bed, woke up and got rich. He got rich "in his sleep" as John S. Mill said.
He did not get rich by working.
WilhelmDrake 1 month ago
@WilhelmDrake I fail to see your analysis in this. I'm a lower Middle Class American like you, but if you think Donald Trump doesn't work 16 to 20 hour days, you're absolutely wrong. You think he got rich in his sleep? Obviously you know nothing about the mans schedule or how much he does to make his businesses work. He's smart about investing, but if the shoe was on the other foot, you'd do the same. Jealousy won't make you rich, but hard work will. Ron Paul 2012. The rest are jerks.
caroln1858 3 days ago
@caroln1858
WilhelmDrake 3 days ago

THEY ARE THE MIDDLE MAN.
kaskar1990 2 months ago
@caroln1858 Your statement is insanity. If I were rich, I'd be more than happy to get taxed. What is wrong with TRYING to help those that are less fortunate? Also, most that receive unemployment HAD a job and lost it for a specific reason that applies them for unemployment. Not wanting to help others, is greedy. NO ONE CAN HAVE MY MONEY BUT ME!! That's what we want our kids learning, NOT to help our neighbors. I grew up in poverty and STILL my family weren't on welfare or unemployment tbc
DarkAnewbyss 2 months ago
@caroln1858 Even though we applied for it. My mother was a single parent, raised 4 children, got laid off from her job, we had to struggle. My mother was not nor is she some unemployed drug addict, and most people in my neighbor (also struggling) were not drug addicts either. And the few that actually got unemployment, gave to the neighborhood. We threw birthday parties for the kids, helped each other with bills, we were a COMMUNITY. Something you obviously don't know about
DarkAnewbyss 2 months ago
@caroln1858 I would be more than happy to give more than half of my money to the government if i was a multi-millionaire! And EVEN under Clinton the richest paid less that 45 % in taxes - when was the last time ANYONE actually paid literally HALF or more of their money in taxes? DECADES ago !

There are people(Black/white) in povished neighborhoods(experience/see struggling family/single parent homes) who are strongly against abortion as well.

What?
Bloodshot021 9 months ago
@badsign1980 Next you say "his is not europe were lazy poor bastards get help from rich hard working millionars." You're assuming two things that are not always, or even usually, true: The rich work and the poor are lazy. There are plenty of hard working lower class that cannot get a job because of the ridiculous government. You're also assuming that the rich don't lie and cheat to get where they are; this is simply absurd. And, consider this, I've lived in the U.S. all of my life.

One Q for Glenn...How does a 150$ traffic ticket affects a family of 4 with one income that is, let's say 400$/week? And another one with an income of 50.000$/week or more?
ricardogaftoi 1 year ago
@ricardogaftoi the problem isn't about the total amount of money made and total amount taxed, the problem is that progressive tax makes the rich pay a larger percent. to make calculations simple: if a guy who makes 100$ get's taxed 10$, and another guy who makes 1000$ gets taxed 100$ I have no real problem(even though I don't agree with the income tax). however, if the guy making 1000$ gets taxed 150$ then it's wrong cause they pay a larger percent of taxes.
Chaaarge 1 year ago
@Chaaarge how is it wrong if they have more to funds to help support America then so be it look at it this way say the guy making 100 is making 20k gets taxed 2k makes 18k the guy making 200k payes 20k left over with 180k who is more likely to be able to afford paying more taxes the guy who is in the povery level or the guy who can spare and extra 10k and still makes 170k is he really losing that much money over all no! but what does is help America better going toward
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@cloudvszell well, I don't think there is any "ultimate" form of justice. what's fair in one persons eyes is unfair to the next person. Personally, I think that since the income tax only accounts for 30-something percent of all taxes combined, and most money are spent on ridiculous "projects" like going into iraque, the war on drugs, printing money, the bailouts etc... then what america should do is to just decrease government spending and taxation at the same time for everyone:)
Chaaarge 1 year ago
@Chaaarge decreased spending is a most but that being said its also needed in other places the education system needs a huge upgrade some form of universal medicare is needed and so many other smaller projects need to be done to help the country but cutting taxes isnt going to help not until things get balanced unfortunatly right now they need to raise taxes cut spending to decrease the deficit till its gone then once a surplus is created then reduce the taxes in way to find balance
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@Chaaarge another thing that is needed is to stop loop holes allowing company's to avoid paying taxes and to decrease subsidies for large companies the banks need more regulation as to not control the economy as much as they do and so many other small things the problem is no republican will ever allow any of the change needed and no democrat will dare try because there afraid of both the republicans and the people that pay them in contributions
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@cloudvszell, @chaaarge,@ricardogaftoi R1
Ryukikon 1 year ago
@Ryukikon,@cloudvszell, @chaaarge,@ricardogaftoi R2
you want to help people make the burden lighter or take away the burden period. SImple translation cut or elimante taxes, people will have more money to spend or to save. More money equals more freedom, more freedom equals more economic participation.
Ryukikon 1 year ago
@Ryukikon,,@cloudvszell, @chaaarge,@ricardogaftoi R3
More economic participation equals more market transactions, more market transactions equal more good and services and this leads to ecomonic growth and in time if allocated properly increased standard of living. Now progressive tax is funny, why? income earners of over 250K are a smaller percent of population. Single earners of 250K even smaller.
Ryukikon 1 year ago
@Ryukikon ,@cloudvszell, @chaaarge,@ricardogaftoi R4
Ryukikon 1 year ago
@Ryukikon ,@cloudvszell, @chaaarge,@ricardogaftoi R5
Ryukikon 1 year ago
@Ryukikon ,@cloudvszell, @chaaarge,@ricardogaftoi R6
Ryukikon 1 year ago
@Ryukikon the idea on lowering taxes on every one is actually a good idea but at this time its impossible and should not be looked at at all the country is in the hole close to 10 trillion dollars the first thing needed to fix that is money if the country is getting less money through taxes and then cuts the budget they arent really saving but just compensating for the loss of tax money the only time taxes should be lowered is when the budget shows a surplus where it can afford to go down
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@Ryukikon as for people of 250k ya there are some that are in debt but look at this way people in the govt make close to 200k, people in banks, office buildings some doctors and so on are all making close to that range with little to no risk taken of all of the the doctorrs and some of the bankers my have huge school loans but so does everyone the difference of available money though is still huge
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@Ryukikon for instance im going through college right now im looking at about a 40k debt when i get out of school if im successful at my career im looking at making between 40-80k a year where as say a tool an die operator could go through for about the same cost and come out making 60-100k a year and then there are ece who could pay up to 25k to make between 20-40k a year so the debt issue does not excuse people fro paying ore taxes when someone making 250k might have paid only 100k for
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@Ryukikon so in the case of me i might make -20-+40 tool an die makes a +40-80k the ece makes a -5-+15k a year over what the paid for schooling where a doctor might come out making +100k or more so ya sure they havedebt but they can more easily pay it off hence not needing a tax break where as some one who comes out makin g less then what they paid for school is in ore need of tax breaks that being said i dont agree with taxes on everything and the rules should be changed
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@cloudvszell p1
you pose good points but there are problems.
ToniBaldie 1 year ago
@cloudvszell p2
Sorry was signed into someone elses account.
Ryukikon 1 year ago
@cloudvszell p3

@cloudvszell p4
Ryukikon 1 year ago
@Ryukikon please elaborate on p3 as im not sure exactly what part of my response you are refereeing to. as for p4 i agree its foolish to put them together as the tax system is all different but i was just trying to make a point that the people making over 200k a year is quite wide and not limited to a select few people like the higher brackets are for example those making 500k+ bracket is a select group of people with few exceptions and so on.
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@Ryukikon as for a smaller govt it has its pros and cons bigger govt means more services but also more taxes, while a small govt meant little in the way of services and lower taxes whats needed is a balance between the two extremes just like anything a the way to solve the problem is to find a balance i agree the govt need to cut back or at least become more efficient to reduce wasted money
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@Ryukikon but i also see that it needs to redistribute the money directions to save money the govt is spending 600billion a year on a war with no end in sight while spending i believe 60 billion on health care (i looked it up a while ago i could be wrong on the exact#) the priorities of the country need to change right now they say we care about the economy while throwing money into the toilet but now that taxes are cut any cuts tot he budget will just offset the tax breaks
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@Ryukikon i honestly believe that instead of lowering the taxes they should have raised it not a lot 1-2% now i cant say i know all the taxes in the us but at that its not going to cause a huge strain on a small company or a corporation or the middle class but it would give that little extra needed with a mighty cut in wasteful spending ie from defense, added with the extra tax money would help pay off the deficit slowly but surely
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@Chaaarge so with 170k a year how badly are you going to be affected by losing 10k extra hmm? the average person can live a very comfortable life with 100k but in this case you have 70k extra not to mention if you have a spouse say making 100k minus the 15k so 85k a year so a combined wealth of 255k a year and in taxes they contributed 45k so i ask again who can afford it more to help make the country better the family making 60k a year or the family making 300k???
cloudvszell 1 year ago
@Chaaarge and this is with only low numbers lets get into a millionaire shall we if you make 2mill you still have 1.7mill seriously how much are you going to be affected by that extra 100k? none or how about billionaires having the equivalent of 1000millions only loses 150mill left with 850million dollars now please tell we with a straight face if that extra 50 million is going to effect them in the slightest when they are making money daily??? the answer surprise surprise is no

The problem is saying "yes all citizens need to help" but then saying "well only this one group should be forced to".
matrixfs 1 year ago
Basically, people will start voting more 'honestly' if they're not allowed to vote to spend someone else's money. It's pretty easy for someone to say "yes we need healthcare" when they're told it won't affect their tax bill next year. Would the same people hold to their opinion if they were the ones who had to help pay for it too?
matrixfs 1 year ago
@matrixfs We all help equally? That doesn't make sense. We don't have equal amounts of money.
The rich should help the poor, and the strong should help the weak, not prey on them. Your solution is like asking a paraplegic person to help Mr. Universe lift a refrigerator. "Here, you get one end..."
Zomnificent 1 year ago
@Zomnificent When you get to the real world, let me know - and by the way equally means % here, so it doesn't matter who makes what. I've had crackheads try sell me $100 in food stamps for $20 to buy drugs. My fiance's friend nearly got raped a few weeks ago. I had some 'poor' people in my apartment stealing the birthday presents my family got me. And you want me to give up more and more money to help 'fix' these people? They're NEVER going to change.
matrixfs 1 year ago
@matrixfs It does matter who makes what, because it means a lot more for a very poor person to give up, say, 10% of their income in taxes, than it does for a very rich person. The poor person is left much worse off, and is much closer to having no money. Why should they be forced to pay the same rate as a millionaire? It's completely unfair. They can't afford it.
Crack is an addiction that requires treatment. Not all poor people are crackheads, either. Not even most of them are.
Zomnificent 1 year ago
Anyone can be a rapist, including rich people. How do you know anything about the rapist? You're also way more likely to get raped by someone you know.
Why'd you put poor in quotation marks on that last anecdote?
And anecdotes is what they are. They don't prove your grand political point - that all poor people are immoral criminals.
Zomnificent 1 year ago
It's nothing more than a stereotype, and it's the same thing a racist does. You have a preconceived notion, and everything that confirms that notion you trumpet as evidence. Everything that disconfirms it, you ignore. I could get the same argument from a chain email.
Are you a millionaire? If so, then yes, I want you to give up "more and more money," because you can afford it, and I'm sick of your whining. But I'm not very concerned about you...you sound like a selfish asshole and a bigot.
Zomnificent 1 year ago
We have a serious problem with poverty, and poverty leads to several other problems. We need to fix it, and to fix it, it will take a massive investment of money into our society. Thankfully, there is an over-privileged class of people that own 85% of all the wealth in our society, and they make up a very small portion of the population. And their tax rates have been going down since the 80's, from around 80% to 35%.
I say we put it to a vote.
Zomnificent 1 year ago
@Zomnificent Your big plan isn't going to work, people are never going to be equal, and people are never going to like each other, even if they law says they have to.
Since you're living in fantasy land, here's whats going to happen in the real world. Obama is going to 'stand strong' on the taxes right up to the deadline. But did you notice the house voted down the unemployment benefit extension? If it's not obvious, this is clearly a warning - "don't bite the hand that feeds you."
matrixfs 1 year ago
@Zomnificent Over-privileged by whose judgement? If you think someone stole money, sue them - we already have laws for that. Being rich while following the law, by definition isn't illegal. Or are you proposing a new civil court route to prosecuting people who are being 'hated on' until they're fined into poverty and the angry mob finds a new target?
matrixfs 1 year ago
@Zomnificent The guy who nearly raped her took her credit card and spent $17 on it at to buy perfume TJ Max or KMart. I'm pretty sure that confirms the poverty thing. Some thug buying his girlfriend a gift by beating up the white girls he thinks will be carrying the most cash.
And I put "poor" in quotes because they're not really poor. They are clothed, fed, and have a home, but they want the fancy stuff they see on TV. The burglar was white. I held him at gunpoint until cops arrested.
matrixfs 1 year ago
@matrixfs With the unemployment benefits extension, they decided not to vote on it in the House because Republicans won't cooperate and don't give a fuck about unemployed Americans in the middle of a recession. In order to pass it in the Senate, they need to get three Republicans to vote for it. Not fucking likely.
That's the Republican Christmas present to all the struggling families of America - throwing them out on the street or cutting off their heat.
Zomnificent 1 year ago
Republicans don't want the economy to recover before 2012, because the worse the economy is, the better they do against Obama. That's all they care about now. They don't care what happens to the country, as long as Obama doesn't get re-elected.
The rest of my response will be sent in a private message. I just hate the 500 character limit.

I think Glenn Beck is missing the point. Rich people have always been taxed, obviously we're not going to 'tax them all of their money'. And what would be the point of increasing the tax on the middle class or poor? You're not going to get anymore money from us. We don't have 'all the money'.

EsClayWilson 1 year ago
I am certainly no wealthy person, so I have no dog in this fight, but I hate the class warfare thing. To tax the "rich" at any rate above the rate everyone else pays is morally wrong. The "Turk" lies when when he talks about it being "one or two percent" higher tax. The highest federal income tax rate in 1980 under Jimmy Carter was 70%. The only fair tax is a flat tax.
phatgeezer1955 1 year ago
@phatgeezer1955 Class warfare, like Soviet Union. actually in the 1950s under Ike the top was almost 90%. But the rich all have tax lawyers & accountants
EsClayWilson 1 year ago
@EsClayWilson Under a flat tax system, the tax lawyers are irrelevant. When you lower the tax rate, people are actually more compliant--paying the tax becomes more attractive than paying the lawyer. The top rate ever was 94% under FDR. If I was a rich guy, why would I build a new factory and pull in an additional $1,000,000 a year when I'd have to give $900,000 of it to the government? Better to have more time off than to be a government serf. So jobs not created--little guy hurt.
phatgeezer1955 1 year ago
@phatgeezer1955 They would still have some sort of personal deduction, one can simplify stuff a lot without going to a flat tax
EsClayWilson 1 year ago
@EsClayWilson Flat tax is the only fair tax:
-- progressive taxes are Marxism and have no place in a free society,
-- they punish achievement
-- they cost jobs for all of us by draining off capital from the economy into the government sinkhole
The original idea of the personal exemption was that "subsistence" income was not to be taxed. Let's set the exemption at a bare subsistence level again and tax everything above that at a flat 15%. That's all govt gets to take.
phatgeezer1955 1 year ago
@phatgeezer1955 Progressive taxes aren't Marxist, I am sick of all these braindead right wingers who are so simple minded they call everyone else a Commie. Also, the government does create some jobs as well as provide transportation systems and other infrastructures that businesses need, like water, power, sewer, police, fire protection etc. You also confuse making a lot of money with some sort of moral purity, when in reality it's quite the opposite.
EsClayWilson 1 year ago
@EsClayWilson The Communist Manifesto, Chapter 2: "...in most advanced countries, the following will be pretty generally applicable... 2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax."
There are certain policies that are part of Marxism that some in the US have advocated. It doesn't make the advocate a Marxist, just misguided. Some people, however, are Marxist by declaration: Van Jones, Ayers Dohrn, BHO's parents, Frank Marshall Davis, etc. I reserve the right to refer to them as such.
