@TakenbyForce78 This song is actually a cover of a Fleetwood Mac song back when Peter Green was in the band. I can't remember of the top of my head, but I think what happened was that Green struggled with this sudden fame and fortune and after a bad trip, he wrote this song relating to what he thought it meant. So "Green Manalishi" might refer to money.
i really really dont like fags, but this is my favorite band ever, rob being a queer does take him down a notch, but queen is still popular, why should priest be different?
@gunman848 Yeah, hes gay but he always wore it well. Kinda like that "Wez" character from Road Warrior. Rob has alot of manly qualities, and a real man just does whatever he wants to do, fuck what other people think. I can respect that.
@gunman848 'i dont fight,i shoot'-there's a man's man...putrid,i weigh 90 lbs. and would put more balls into a conflict than just twitchin a finger, domestication is a sickly sweet bane-it takes the man out of mankind-it took more balls to sing that song than you have
homo band??? hmm these kids dont even know what they did in this world... fucking dumb asses dont know shit these days . im 20 now but i know ppl back then will knock them bitches out cold fucking fags
This is the first concert I ever saw. I think I was a whole 15 years old at the time. It is also the only concert I ever got tooooo fuckered up at. Damn, the good ol' days. =)
that guy on the cover listened to painkiller and tried to hold his head together with that belt and his eyes exploded. sorry green manalishi wont do that for you
Am I the only person who thinks the opening riff to this song sounds similiar to Iron Maiden's riff on Satellite 15...The Final Frontier when it transitions from the first half of the song to the second half. It's the 4:38 mark in Iron Maiden's song. I know this was written first, I just noticed they're similiar.
@xXSavageSn1per12Xx Haha, I totally realized the same thing today. I happen to have both The Final Frontier and Judas Priest's Greatest Hits CD's in my car disc changer at the moment, and so recently hearing both songs, it suddenly hit me when Final Frontier came on today, "Hey, this sounds like Green Manalishi!" So here on youtube I listened to both opening riffs back to back, and they are defintely very similar.
@yourmusekelly fucking right it was sexually charged. Rob was about the coolest gay dude ever... I knew he was gay even back in the day but I didnt give a fuck. To me, it just ment he was man enough to be whomever he wanted to be.
@sabbathfreak1 Rob is a Leather Daddy, like that guy dude from Road Warrior, "Wez".. and what you gonna do? You gonna accuse a guy like that of not "being a man"? ha ha
I'm 47 yrs old and listening to this again has resurrected a part of me that has been dead. I grew up to this stuff. I feel young again.Long live Judas Priest.
Hell yea! I'm days away from the big 40. I first got into Defenders of the Faith. I was 12 when it was released. From there I went backwards. I got into every album back to Rocka Rolla!

I knew Mac made this but Judas Priest made it so much better than Mac's. Mac made it so depressing. Judas Priest made this into an awesome rockin' song.
@Metalrocker12384 Well that was the point of the song. Its about the corrupting power of money, so it would sound depressing. I love both versions honestly.

I'm an American and I'm apologizing for all my fellow Americans. I really don't want to respond to wat Sam12202 said because there are too many things wrong wiht it, but not all Americnas are self centered, brainless, douchebags. IMHO this turns the Peter Green original into a sterile and soulless ghost of itself, almost like a parody. And that's coming from a bigger metal fan than you. Perhaps not hair metal though. Boke.
I love this song! I love both versions and they each play a different emotive role in my life. This version is amazing, I love priest and this is one of my favourites. Sorry, but I have heard the Peter Green original, and - turned it off. I heard this one first and could never make the switch. If I had heard the original first, maybe... nah!
I wager that most of the negative comments about this great cover of a great song are by non musicians that have no clue to as what they are even talking about..
I love Priest , since childhood. My older brother had some records of them. They are an amazing band with Rob , an awesome vocalist. I met Rob in Phoenix in my 20's , and they guy that does /did his tattoos did mine, kewl memories. I love this song, reminds me of hanging out with my brother as a kid.
JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN, TESLA, BLACK SABBATH, TWISTED SISTER, MOTLEY CRUE......ALL MY FAVS FROM 80'S BACK IN HIGH SCHOOL!! AND THEY STILL ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@covinafalconer None of those bands will ever reach the level that KISS has. No band ever has and no band ever will. KISS is unique and their staying power is eternal thanks to the loyal and original KISS fan such as myself and others like me.
@HeavensDemon966 Never said Kiss wasen't great, they just weren't first on my mind when I wrote my comment. Kiss is GREAT yet I don't consider myself a "loyal kiss fan" I have much respect for them and their music. I had several of their albums and even supported them when they took off the makeup : ) They are legends and Beth is one of my all time favs...
@HeavensDemon966 kiss blow they are nothing but commercial sell out scum bags that stupid 70s teenagers like because of there sell out image the only reason they stayed so long cus those same stupid 70s teenagers r still alive but i cnt wait till they all die so i cnt stop hearing about this below mediocore band stay out of real metal videos for gods sakes
@lethalweaponization Yeh your right..Twisted Sister was ok..but not a favorite. I do like the song called "THE PRICE" and Tesla had alot of good songs like Modern Cowvoy and Love song?(think its the name) BUT HATED SONG "SIGNS " WAS CRAP! I feel that the band didn't get the recognnition they deserved though...But gotta agree with your comment.. Now MOTORHEAD was the shit! Ace of Spades is SICK!
Stop arguing in the comments of such a great song ...
You're being immature little shitheads, and if Halford saw this ...he would run you over with a motorcycle made with the crushed corpses of the 15 jackasses that disliked this video. So please, grow a pair of testiclites, hit the replay button on this song ...and just shut the hell up!
Oh look, the cops are here....they must love this song as much as i do!

@covinafalconer agree with all of yours except Tesla and Twisted Sister
lethalweaponization 1 year ago
