  • miss the old two strokes though, i read they are making a super dream again and what have you, so we will see loads of hooligans flying about again like the good old days of the eighties.

  • Good job on the rebuild, great to hear that engine brings back lots of good memories.

  • I found and bought back my Canadian spec 1986 RZ350, im so glad i found it. It needs a lot of work tho to restore as it was stored outside exposed to the elements. The engine is almost finished rebuilding, working on the frame soon. I have a problem with sourcing parts tho, i will need all new plastics, any advice where i can get these? Greetings from sunny Jamaica.

  • Hi, I lke the expansion chamber JL, where can I find them?

    thanks

  • current setup .. stock air box .. tony dukas reeds .. single petal mains 200 needle on the 2nd notch from the top .. stock idle jets and air screw 1 and half turns out from seat ..

  • 31k carbs Yboot .. 410s .. 1Ua powerjet carbs Yboot 300s .. but could be less .. it likes it if you "chase the needle rather than bangin it .. more jetting ideas .. contact me .. Randy

  • soon to be installed spec II 30mm carbs and the Yboot intake .. ill let you know how that works out

  • Just put my Jim Lomas pipes on this Monday and a set of Tony Dukas reeds .. sounds so nice and runs like a champ .. I love the way these pipes come on late .. it lets the power valves to thier job .makes it nice to rida around town . nice bike man .. Randy

  • currently rebuilding engine 4 mm stroker 115 mm rods billet powervalves, reed spacers and all blasted and some other tasty bits and pieces should be ready soon !!!!! hopefully

  • @aaronmvrider How's the rebuild? Finished yet? Mine is still not running, need more parts, but hopefully this year i will be riding my beloved RZ again. Greetings from sunny Jamaica.

  • Lanny,

What parts do you need? Give me a list and I will see what I can come up with for you. Plastics are going to be difficult to come by and you may have to run it without the fairing, until you can assemble them.

If you have rebuilt the crank, you will recognize that one half was from an RD350B (air cooled). The balance therefore will be out. I gave the parts to the then owner just so he could get it on the road.

    Francis

  • Hello, mate! Congrat... good work, that nice machine your Rz 350! The ypvs sound is very much cool... I love it, when function on. ha ha ha...

here in Brazil, this BIKe is called RD 350, the Black Widow, due it wild-power... LoL..but we havn´t the Rz/d 500...! Somebody sell it to me... payment in cash...or gold if you prefer...

Excuse me by English writing, with the dictionary support!! [ ]s...

  • Buena preparacion, manos de un maestro, felicidades!

  • Great rebuild, brilliant bike. Congrats !

  • This was my dream bike back in '85. Still love it to this day. Too bad manufacturers are doing away with 2 strokes but if it's for the environment, then I guess it's okay.

  • thanks for your comments, i am currently doing a 500 restoration, so i have been busy on that for a year or so, will post videos of both riding very soon

  • Nice job. Looks great. Why did you keep the grab rail, and pillion pegs, if it;'s got the cafe seat? You could have shed a kilo or two off the little darlin'.

  • still have the original seat and have kids who love coming for a ride, have plans next year for a rebuild engine freshen up ......cant wait -_-

  • Uhu.... That'll explain it. Good luck with the rebuild. I used to race one of these in the 80's. A little porting, some boysen reeds, and a set of wiseco's will bring her to a whole new level. Also, the later RZ 350

(85-86) had a different shaped combustion chamber.... Worth a look, if you're serious about getting all the ponies going.

  • Nice job with the rebuild and the tasteful modifications. :) This is the first RZ350 I've seen with the Jim Lomas pipes.

  • Excellent choice of music! Thought i was the only one who knew who Hotchip was!

    Oh , nice RZ too!

  • Nice Job! I used to have a RZ 350, looked just like this (wanted a 500 but EPA laws would not let them import 500's into the US. Wish I still had it! I would crank my 350 with my hand just to show how easy it would start. I put racing airbox, clutch & exhaust (neighbors hated me,lol) and made it very quick, could go 1st to 6th on back wheel, out ran many 750's of the day(early, mid 1980's) on curvy roads. Had several bigger bikes, 650 with turbo, 750's, 1200, but none any more fun than the RZ!!!

  • old 2 stokes so good. they should still do 350cc 500c 2 strokes :)

  • put a video on of that thing being put through the gears!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • am building a rz500 right now should be finished soon will put a video on of both being put through the gears

    thanks for comments

  • very nice job on the restoration, did i see a lil mini moto in the garage around 2:45?

btw nice kenny roberts decals-i actually own a motocross helmet that used to belong to kenny roberts-my uncle used to work for him and kenny gave him the helm when it was to small. it's a Nolon NR and very nice it is too!

  • WOW, congratulations from brazil, very nice Job,oh yeah...

  • You have an RZ500 too? Wow, thats going to be fun, I love the smell of two stroke fumes on the back of my jacket, you are going to get plenty on the 500. I also have a Suzuki RG500 Gamma which needs restored, I think I better get it done before the bloody EU bans them completely.

  • Nice rebuild on a bike which deserves preservation. So we can see the bike was in the house and the wife did not kill you for all the oil on the carpet before you got it back together, well done. I hate that seat though, if it were mine I would be tempted to get the original restored. My wife says we need a new carpet in the bedroom so I am going to follow the trend and restore my RD350 in there. I will post pics of the rebuild soon. (posthumously)

  • thanks for your comments i have the original seat also in excellent condition for when i take a pillion i am currently rebuilding a rz 500 will post a video soon check out my othewr videos

  • Great rebuild, sounds great.

  • great job on the rebuild man. sounds great too.

  • rebuilding a rz 500 right now check out other videos search with my user name

long live a well tuned 2 stroke

  • subscribed. get those rz 500 video online !

  • guess who just bought a rz 500 1984 pick it up next week with jim lomas pipes in very nice condition will post a video soon of all of my bikes

    see you soon

  • Nice set of rotors and I loved the tail saddle, a truly genuine modern cafe racer!

did you felt any difference after the front fork bracing?

  • rotors are from rz unlimited, tail saddle off ebay, handles great now but i also put fresh fork oil in so i am not sure of the comparism will need better tyres to handle the corner speed i have a few more things to do but bike is really quick wheelstands under power without the use of clutch fanning also sounds really crisp with lomas pipes sounds old school (gp), i wish it was a gp racer but this is close enough

    2 strokes forever cheers

  • great work bro the rz looks and sounds great on the web, but nothing beats seeing for real in the shed. have a ball doing the photo shoot and video. ill be checking it at out as well. WELL DONE.

  • This is the fastest bike ever!

Mine had urine stains from pissing myself.

  • ok i have a few complaints lol. i had an original when i was 18. back in the day. the original pipes sound awesome, the dropped bars are shit to ride with, i raced one too. but apart from that quality job mate. oh and their called rd in ireland.

  • fantastic rebuild. love that seat (how much did cost ya) and OMG it sounds sooooo good. I need a fork brace for my RZ, speeds above 80mph get a little "twitchy". Check out "bansheehq dotcom" sometime, its a banshee forum, but the guys there are great and there's ton of rz engine info there.

Looking forward to your riding video. I won't have any more riding videos for a while, as I burnt a hole in the top of one of my pistons. Im rebuilding it right now, hope to be back on the road soon.
